Dude-

Most people are thankful for Quinn because we remember what we had for the last decade or so(besides Sam). No one thinks Quinn did anything by himself, but we just ran the SEC with two 190lb, 3rd down backs, Juan Davis playing significant minutes, and one good wide receiver(Bond was hurt all year). Our roster isn't the monster you think it is. If you don't think so look at our roster vs Ohio State's. We ran back the same level of success after losing Worthy, Mitchell, Sanders, Brooks, Jones, Baxter, Whitt, Sweat, Murphy, Ford, and Williams.....AND transitioning to the SEC. Stability at quarterback has something to do with that.

Nah dude. This ain't it. Fucking drafted 12. That's more than 50% of the starters.

Juan would have started nearly everywhere fucking else too, the fuck is this sideswipe about?

Yes, we've had talent.  Lots of it.  We had the 3rd most players drafted in 2024, and 2nd in 2025.  Tops overall for those two years.  The point is, we're not the only team with elite talent.  Two of them knocked us out of the playoffs.  (We should also note that Brooks missed the final 4 games of his career.)

I don't really understand why so many of you struggle with shades of grey.  It's quite astonishing.

I won't stand for the Sam Ehlinger blasphemy. Sam was universally loved except for some brain broken idiots who just hate him for no reason. He was an OU CCG game away from making the CFP in 2018 and there's a real chance they win the whole thing if they go. They absolutely fucking murdered Georgia.

Sam actually played for a dogshit team with a dogshit coach and still came out with the "decent" reviews because he way overperformed and is still on a roster now (Denver). He doesn't suck and has outlasted a lot of other people who were drafted and are just not on rosters.

Ehlinger played with a lot of heart, we all saw it. Ewers didn't quite have that.

Your Ohio State example is ass. They had 14 players drafted in 2025 and won the title. Nobody is saying they won because Will Howard came. Yet you keep saying Texas got to the semis because of Quinn.

“Stability at quarterback” is horseshit when you have over a dozen players drafted. OSU had a different QB last year, had only 4 players drafted, and didn’t even make the CFP in 2024. All the talent around Will Howard made a difference to win a title in 2025.

I think when you think I am explaining things I am talking to you. I am not. There are 1000's of lurkers on this thread that I am talking to. Some of those people don't understand the game and those are the people I am talking to. Take @Derka for example. He was bashing Quinn on a vertical route because he had no idea how a fade route is supposed to be run or thrown until another poster corrected him. Those are the people that need direction and explaining. You would never do that because you understand the nuances of the game. I respect that about you. I also respect that about @BurntOrange&White, and many other posters that I don't always see eye to eye with. You guys generally make this place a fun place to be and I commend you for that. So don't ever think I don't respect your knowledge because I am talking to the audience. It's a hangover from some professional roles.

Damn.  Harsh.

And just when I think I couldn’t you love you guys anymore you go and warm my heart.

It’s like family.  You piss me off then some stupid comment shows that redeeming quality in some of you.  I am genuinely curious about peoples experiences and how it ties into their understanding of the game and try to dig it out but people like their anonymity.  We need @WinningIsHard back.

Does anyone think Arch Manning would have come to Texas if we had some other golden boy with years of eligibility at QB? Or if Quinn was a jackass? People don't give Ewers the credit he deserves for handling that with such grace and relaxation.

From what I understood, Arch did want to sit and not be rushed on to the field so it was helpful to not have uncertainty to get him here.  From all I gather, team is important so anyone above that is just biding their time.  So I’d give them all credit.  Meaning the team not just the QBs.

Personally, I find it difficult to single any player out for recruiting.  I’d assume our culture is a big part of the draw.  I’d also assume there were a number of guys that were at the forefront of that culture.  And it can’t just be one guy.

From a distance, this is the type of guy that commands respect.  Nose down.  Stick with it.  And finish the job. No extra fandom.  Limited play time til this year.  That’s kicking ass.

Quinn may have had some help in those efforts.

Quinn might also have greatly contributed to ending the run to a championship both those years.

when that dude posted an expert who corrected me i said, “well he would know better than me” and i conceded the point, something you are literally incapable of. watching you dunk on yourself while trying to dunk on me is hilarious. here’s you hitting ‘send’ on that post:

also, as i said in that very post, it’s impossible to give QE the benefit of the doubt considering his comically terrible footwork and consistently inaccurate throws. but don’t let that stop you from fellating the most underachieving qb we’ve ever had while patting yourself on the back for doing so.

Ohio State has been winning consistently for seemingly ever. What in the fuck are you even talking about? We haven't been this good since 2009. Ohio State has more than 60 players in the league. They've had one losing season since 1988. 19 fucking 88. Meanwhile we just came off a stretch where we were irrelevant for 14 years Big. Let's not try to make it like the two things are ever comparable.

I told you the same thing the expert did but the difference is you cannot allow yourself to be schooled by someone you feel you are superior than. Even now. Even though you don't even know what you don't know, you are still being dismissive of someone even though you are being outclassed in the conversation.

you’re the only one of us who sees this as a competition. your desire to “win” is a big part of what makes you so unable to be objective or admit that you’re ever wrong.

Its actually hilarious that there's so much film on this guy and you guys have seen most if not all of it repeatedly and you still haven't come to a consensus because of emotional garbage or who knows what.

Quinn Ewers was painfully adequate. That's the enigma here.

He was obviously an elite talent, who has head scratching mediocre film for a substantial amount of his career.

He also has a pretty crazy highlight reel that is easily top 5 every season he played. Dude makes insane throws and had incredible touch.

He also had complete shitfest games that are inexcusable at his level or for an NFL caliber player. Think OK State + Georgia reg season

Everyone has arguments that are correct on aspects or portions of his body of work, but Quinn as the complete body of work is just Painfully Adequate.

Agreed, but it is extremely unfair & out of line (IMO) to call him a “bum” like some have here.
He’s been a damn good representative for the Texas Longhorn program and does not deserve such vitriol.
Save that crap for the Johnny Foosballs.

You made a comment about Quin's completion percentage. I cornered you on it and you continued to duck the question. I am not the receipts guy. That is JimmyJazz. You argue with so many people you can't even keep your opponents straight. Again, only one of us has had timeouts(multiple) for lighting the forum on fire, and that person is not me. see above. i have no problem discussing QE or dealing with someone with a differing opinion, or even changing my mind or conceding that i’m wrong. but you’re just so often insulting with the very first line of so many of your posts that i just skip that shit and move on. i’m not going to read the next 500 words of your post when the first two words are, “listen dumbass.” but uh, keep on convincing yourself that you’re not at all combative and are totally above the fray. can’t wait for you to quote this post, claim victory, and then still be like, “derka is so combative but i’m totally not.” lol

Hahah, did you not notice in the last page Sam was discussed and that Vince, Colt, Major and Simms have been steady components of this thread.

This is primarily a University of Texas forum and this is the Texas Football sub. Quinn is going to continue to be compared to how other Texas QBs performed in the NFL, how he performed compared to Manning and other aspects of former Texas QBs. If you want discussion content that is purely Quinn's performance while in the NFL at Miami with no historical Texas QB references, you might want to TRY Here
