*Looked it up, and Wilford Brimley was 49 when they fucking made that movie….I’m gonna go sob in a corner somewhere.

And Brando was 47 when he made The Godfather

Will these boys be taking a trip to the titter this evening?

Probably not. They got enough of that in B/CS (the ones that have visited there)IMG_2274.thumb.png.7d7a67f380e40bde50ca492765d48ef3.png

We’re going to line up him and Heze next to each other and alternate who runs routes and who stays in to block. Shit is going to be unstoppable.

Heze vs. Keawe: Best on best.

In all seriousness, he looks much more like a TE than Kent.

Given the week we’ve had, a couple public commitments would be great.

Honestly, this might be one of our "worst" weeks in recruiting this year or last year.  And you know what, I give zero fucks.  We are in on lots of big names.  We get some.   Some chose to go elsewhere for various reasons.  The NIL rules this year is going to result in even more fuckery right now than there has been in prior years.

I have faith that Sark and his support staff and the alumni who are contributing to NIL will do just fine by the end of the year.  I have faith they will close just fine come December.

This isn't Mack Brown where we "need a win" in recruiting because he is working so hard on the trail and we don't have a big name recruit on board yet.

Would I prefer some of the promising football players commit here instead of other schools?  Sure.  Do I care because Aggie got a player or two ?  Or (in my best coke head Luicci) Fat Elko won head to head against Sark for the two bestest high school players in the history of ever these last few weeks sending shockwaves through the entire universe that Aggie football is back to where it never left.

Win some lose some.  We will be just fine.

I'd say last year's bonfire of the DT board was a worse week. We can't really be stressed over RB and edge, and Bell winning the Elite 11 was a nice day.

Love seeing that X from pops. Good god, that was a helluva greeting, great logistical planning to have most (if not all):the staff there for JTIII’s arrival. The kid has to see himself as a priority.

Here is a thought- all recruitniks get excited about the blue chips, because great teams are built with blue chips, and we want great teams.

I was remembering a couple of big blue chips from 15 years ago, DTs. Malcom Brown and Taylor Bible. I remember Brown being more sought after, but that could be my memory exercising a bias because Brown panned out big time and Bible didn’t. They were both major blue chips (google tells me that Bible was the #26 Texas schoolboy, all positions).

In today’s environment, how much would Brown be worth to sign? Low seven figures? High six? How about Bible? Because the “market” of 15 years ago had them valued similarly out of HS.

What happens when a big amount of money is allotted to a HS signee, and he busts? That has to be a miserable conversation with the player and parents, but it has to be had, because it’s worse to have dead money in the locker room.

How to play it? I think that to pay big money to a HS kid to sign, you better be damned sure he’s worth it, and that you are ready to manage it if he busts. If Texas is using the senior year to gain data on the kid and make a better evaluation, that’s probably the right way to play it.

I wonder if sark and co. talk to recruits about making real money at the retention part of roster building. Competitive offer as a high schooler but real money if you put in work and develop into a contributor, we pay well. Either way recruiting will be fine.

Sark doesn't want to lead a recruitment with money talk. He's going to focus on fit - for both sides - talk about development (keeping the main thing the main thing to maximize a player's long term financial success), 40 year decision not a 3-4 year one (4ever Texas, TexasExes), yet still highlight commercial NIL deals his players have sealed, talk about the way NFL teams have cap slot values for each position and how Texas is no different, etc.

Brandon Harris and his team probably delves deeper into how they see a particular recruit slotting in with NIL and get even more in the weeds with any player agent later if everything else seems like a mutual fit.

Finally, existing players themselves are made available to discuss with parents and recruits how the program really works, so the recruits are going to see and hear for themselves how Texas is doing with respect to setting the players up for success on and off the field and how well they are following through on any promises/deals negotiated from their recruiting process.
