Human trafficking

Not a huge fan of Trump but he's doing a few things that I can appreciate and one of them is cracking down on human trafficking, specifically child sex trafficking.  Not looking to start any sort of Trump debate, just want to focus more on trafficking in general.  The arrest of Keith Raniere and Allison Mack was huge, hopefully they'll tell all and name names as this stuff goes way higher than them.

And then this just happened a few days ago: https://www.wsbtv.com/news/local/north-fulton-county/metro-sex-trafficking-sting-rescues-nearly-160-children-authorities-say/764243882

It's so prevalent that all pilots and flight attendants are trained to look for the signs on their flights.

Yeah and when they do question someone, it turns into a race issue. Like what recently happened with SWA.

Lindsay Gottlieb, the University of California’s women’s basketball coach, says she’s “appalled” with Southwest after one of the airline’s employees allegedly asked her to prove she was the mother of her biracial son before getting on a flight.

“I’m appalled that after approx 50 times flying with my 1-year-old son[,] ticket counter personnel told me that I had to ‘prove’ that he was my son despite having his passport,” Gottlieb, who is white, wrote on Twitter, according to KPIX. “She said we have a different last name. My guess is because he has a different skin color.”

Fair enough, will happily stick solely to the topic at hand

Respectfully, it's unrealistic to post about human trafficking on a political board, give Trump accolades, then expect the discussion to remain apolitical.
Human trafficking bad, really bad.
Trump bad, really bad.
It remains to be seen where exactly those two things intersect.

You want to give this pile of dog shit accolades while his administration is openly committing human rights violations by forcibly removing immigrant children from their parents? FUCK no. I don't care where you stand on the immigration issue, this is human trafficking at a governmental level. How anyone in the republican party can be complicit in this is beyond me and can not be allowed to stand.

Human trafficking has been a federal law enforcement priority for several years now.

While it is a real problem and a serious problem, the "prioritizing" it is mostly political theater.

Pay attention, every hooker/john bust has turned into "SEX TRAFFICKING!1!!11"

I guess you were screaming this SAME thing when the BHO Administration did it.  When you are ARRESTED you are separated in custody. If someone legally in this country with children were arrested and booked for violating the law the same thing happens.

Your fake outrage is fake.

The case uncovers the brutal methods used to snare young women - some as young as 15 - into a call-girl agency specialising in wealthy, high- profile clients. It also exposes attempts by the French government machine to block an investigation which might embarrass senior politicians and damage French interests abroad.

Six people are charged with the running of an international prostitution ring, whose call-girls entertained the actor Robert de Niro, the former tennis player, Wojtek Fibak, two senior (but unnamed) French politicians and several Gulf princes. The agency specialised in tricking, or trapping, star-struck teenage girls into selling their bodies with the promise of careers as models or actresses.

Just pointing out your hypocrisy and those other people on the left.

BTW mature response which seems to be SOP from those who have little to nothing to say.

Remember, Hollywood gave a standing ovation to a convicted pedophile who fled the country. He went over to his buddy de Niro's house right after drugging and raping a 13 year old.

Quote

Polanski dropped Samantha off at her home a few hours later and went about his business. He met with Robert De Niro that evening to discuss making a movie based on a William Goldman novel, “Magic.

You seem to think I'm a Democrat for some reason... or that I am politically left leaning in some way. You know literally NOTHING about me except that I don't support that puppet. You would be gravely mistaken to make such bold assumptions about anyone, most especially me.

Nope, you fit right in with those with feigned outrage about DJT and everything he does.  Don’t resist it, embrace it.

Surprised at HookemHooah. He's one of my favorite posters because of he is usually super intelligent and calm and kept together; this is out of character from what I've seen.

Anyways, my only contribution is that I was at a business event and one of the key stakeholders in IT for this company went off on a sort of HookemHooah rant about human trafficking. I'm guessing it's something that people can get passionate about once they get informed, as I'm yet to really be to be honest, but he went off talking about it germane to nothing in IT or business.

I'm interested in learning more because from what I understand it's a huge issue and I'm not really sure how it is an issue. It's fascinating in that way, as you'd think it would be difficult to do this on a large scale. I'm curious to learn more. That said, his big citations were Ashton Kutcher's talks/works on the matter and a Vice article, so I'm not sure how legitimate?

Okay but that doesn't change the fact that you and your ilk still are hypocrites when it comes to bashing DJT but giving BHO a pass.

The biggest critics of Obama's human rights record came from the left.

Oh, and forcibly removing immigrant children from their parents is new. That's a Trump policy.

Stop lumping me in with anyone. You dont get to strawman anything or use any form of equivocation fallacy because I disagree with you. You dont know shit about me, so stop pushing your bullshit idea that you do or have any idea about where I stand with any of Obama's policies.

Obama was a war criminal and an ideological coward. He was nearly as cruel as Trump in his treatment of immigrant populations.

He was still 20x the president and 1000x the human being Trump is.

Gotta love how the Trumptards who a few months ago were crowing over Sessions implementing a new policy of separating immigrants from their children, a policy that Sessions loudly and publicly gloated about implementing with the most shit-eating grin I've ever seen, are now pretending that it's just a continuation of Obama era policies.

Eastern European models?

And with whom do underage Eastern European aspiring models and NYC have something in common ?

Recall this from last summer: Dozens of Suspected Human Traffickers Arrested in Europe - The European Union's police agency says it helped coordinate a continent-wide operation .

The timing seemed significant as it aligned with things ramping up stateside with the Mueller OSC appointment.  Also last summer there were a couple significant round-ups in NYC of mafia types affiliated with Russian mob and Italian mob.

The international human trafficking profits are large scale - and with that goes money laundering.  It's the domain of mafia with international reach.  This is something to keep an eye on in parallel with the Russia investigation as Mueller advances.

* there is a political side to this and for a variety of reasons, now, and the short to medium term future, may represent a window of heavy hitting prosecutorial opportunity for some major strides at squelching networks.  Per usual, it will necessarily involve following the money.

I haven't paid too much to it either because, deep down, I really can't believe that it could be really widespread. However just as you have,  I have been reading a lot of crazy stuff lately too.

God help us if it is as widespread as some say.

It is hard to believe the sheer scope of what some people are claiming it to be but when you have Bill Clinton taking the "Lolita Express" to Epstein Island 26 times and Tony Podesta openly having pics of nude kids in his house, not to mention the statue of one of Jeffrey Dahmers victims I think those could be indicators of how high it goes and how sick and twisted it could end up being.  It'll be interesting though, I just hope Allison Mack and the Raniere guy start naming names.

Lulz at the retards trying to make sex trafficking a left vs right issue. It's a power and wealth issue. Get enough of either, and sick fuckers will do what sick fuckers do.

I live in North Fulton so I’m at once grateful for the law enforcement agencies who did the work and horrified at the scale in my backyard. For reference it would be like this happening in Allen or McKinney.

I was once waiting for a flight and there was an older man and a teenage girl at the gate waiting too. I was really unsettled by them. She looked kind of rough and she was sitting stroking the hair of a really ratty looking doll, and she looked too old to have a doll. And she was dressed too old for her age. I moved to where I could kind of keep an eye on them, and I was feeling really conflicted about what to do. Just when I was about to try to find someone to alert to the situation, a bunch of other family members showed up.

It was really, really disconcerting and I always wonder what would have happened if I had said something.

On May 29, 2015, after Hastert had been indicted for illicitly "structuring" financial transactions (see below), two people briefed on the evidence from the case stated that "Individual A"—the man to whom Hastert was making payments—had been sexually abused by Hastert during Hastert's time as a teacher and coach at Yorkville High School, and that Hastert had paid $1.7 million out of the total $3.5 million in promised payment. On the same day, the Los Angeles Times reported that investigators had spoken with a second former student (not the person who was receiving payments from Hastert), who made similar allegations that corroborated what the first student said. He admitted to sexual abuse during sentencing on unrelated crimes.

REP. JOHN YOUNG (D-Tex.):
Colleen Gardner, a former staff secretary to Young, told the New York Times that Young increased her salary after she gave in to his sexual advances. In November, Young, who had run unopposed in the safe Democratic district five consecutive times, w More..as reelected with just 61 percent of the vote. The scandal wouldn't go away, and in 1978 Young was defeated in a Democratic primary runoff.

REP. ALLAN HOWE (D-Utah):
Howe was arrested in Salt Lake City on charges of soliciting two policewomen posing as prostitutes. Howe insisted he was set up and refused to resign. But the Democratic Party distanced itself from his candidacy and he was trounced by his Republican opponent in the November election.

REP. FRED RICHMOND (D-N.Y.):
Richmond was arrested in Washington for soliciting sex from a 16-year-old boy. Richmond apologized for his actions, conceding he "made bad judgments involving my private life." In spite of a Democratic primary opponent's attempts to cash in on the headlines, Richmond easily won renomination and reelection. But his career came to an end four years later when, after pleading guilty to possession of marijuana and tax evasion - and amid allegations that he had his staff procure cocaine for him -- he resigned his seat.

REP. JOHN HINSON (D-Miss.):
During his first reelection bid, Hinson stunned everyone by announcing that in 1976 he had been accused of committing an obscene act at a gay haunt in Virginia. Hinson, married and a strong conservative, added that in 1977 he had survived a fire in a gay D.C. movie theater. He was making the disclosure, he said, because he needed to clear his conscience. But he denied he was a homosexual and refused GOP demands that he resign. Hinson won reelection in a three-way race, with 39 percent of the vote. But three months later, he was arrested on charges of attempted oral sodomy in the restroom of a House office building. He resigned his seat on April 13, 1981.

REP. ROBERT BAUMAN (D-Md.):
Bauman, a leading "pro-family" conservative, pleaded innocent to a charge that he committed oral sodomy on a teenage boy in Washington. Married and the father of four, Bauman conceded that he had been an alcoholic but had been seeking treatment. The news came as a shock to voters of the rural, conservative district, and he lost to a Democrat in November.

REP. DAN CRANE (R-Ill.) and REP. GERRY STUDDS (D-Mass.):
The House ethics committee on July 14, 1983, announced that Crane and Studds had sexual relationships with teenage congressional pages -- Crane with a 17-year-old female in 1980, Studds with a 17-year-old male in 1973. Both admitted the charges that same day, and Studds acknowledged he was gay. The committee voted to reprimand the two, but a back-bench Georgia Republican named Newt Gingrich argued that they should be expelled. The full House voted on July 20 instead to censure the two, the first time that ever happened for sexual misconduct. Crane, married and the father of six, was tearful in his apology to the House, while Studds refused to apologize. Crane's conservative district voted him out in 1984, while the voters in Studds's more liberal district were more forgiving. Studds won reelection in 1984 with 56 percent of the vote, and continued to win until he retired in 1996.

SEN. BROCK ADAMS (D-Wash.):
Seattle newspapers reported that Kari Tupper, the daughter of Adams's longtime friends, filed a complaint against the Washington Democrat in July of 1987, charging sexual assault. She claimed she went to Adams's house in March 1987 to get him to end a pattern of harassment, but that he drugged her and assaulted her. Adams denied any sexual assault, saying they only talked about her employment opportunities. Adams continued raising campaign funds and declared for a second term in February of 1992. But two weeks later the Seattle Times reported that eight other women were accusing Adams of sexual molestation over the past 20 years, describing a history of drugging and subsequent rape. Later that day, while still proclaiming his innocence, Adams ended his campaign.

REP. JIM BATES (D-Calif.):
Roll Call quoted former Bates aides in October 1988 saying that the San Diego Democrat made sexual advances toward female staffers. Bates called it a GOP-inspired smear campaign, but also apologized for anything he did that might have seemed inappropriate. The story came too close to Election Day to damage Bates, who won easily. However, the following October the ethics committee sent Bates a "letter of reproval" directing him to make a formal apology to the women who filed the complaint. Although the district was not thought to be hospitable to the GOP, Randy "Duke" Cunningham, a former Navy pilot who was once shot down over North Vietnam, ousted Bates in 1990 by fewer than 2,000 votes.

REP. GUS SAVAGE (D-Ill.):
Savage had fondled a Peace Corps volunteer while on an official visit to Zaire. Savage called the story a lie and blamed it on his political enemies and a racist media. (Savage is black.) In January 1990, the House ethics committee decided that the events did occur, but decided against any disciplinary action because Savage wrote a letter to the woman saying he "never intended to offend" her. Savage was reelected in 1990, but finally ousted in the 1992 primary by Mel Reynolds.

REP. BARNEY FRANK (D-Mass.):
In response to a story in the Washington Times, Frank confirmed that he hired Steve Gobie, a male prostitute, in 1985 to live with and work for him in his D.C. apartment. But Frank, who is gay, said he fired Gobie in 1987 when he learned he was using the apartment to run a prostitution service. The Boston Globe, among others, called on Frank to resign, but he refused. On July 19, 1990, the ethics committee recommended Frank be reprimanded because he "reflected discredit upon the House" by using his congressional office to fix 33 of Gobie's parking tickets. Attempts to expel or censure Frank failed; instead the House voted 408-18 to reprimand him. The fury in Washington was not shared in Frank's district, where he won reelection in 1990 with 66 percent of the vote, and has won by larger margins ever since.

SEN. DANIEL INOUYE (D-Hawaii):
In October 1992, Republican Senate nominee Rick Reed began running a campaign commercial that included a surreptitiously taped interview with Lenore Kwock, Inouye's hairdresser. Kwock said Inouye had sexually forced himself on her in 1975 and continued a pattern of sexual harassment, even as Kwock continued to cut his hair over the years. Inouye, seeking a sixth term, denied the charges. And Kwock said that by running the commercial, Reed had caused her more pain than Inouye had. Reed was forced to pull the ad, and while many voters took out their anger on the Republican, Inouye was held to 57 percent of the vote - the lowest total of his career. A week later, a female Democratic state legislator announced that she had heard from nine other women who claimed Inouye had sexually harassed them over the past decade. But the women didn't go public with their claims, the local press didn't pursue the story, and the Senate Ethics Committee decided to drop the investigation because the accusers wouldn't participate in an inquiry.

REP MEL REYNOLDS (D-Ill.):
Freshman Reynolds was indicted on Aug. 19, 1994, on charges of having sex with a 16-year-old campaign worker and then pressuring her to lie about it. Reynolds, who is black, denied the charges and said the investigation was racially motivated. The GOP belatedly put up a write-in candidate for November, but Reynolds dispatched him in the overwhelmingly Democratic district with little effort. Reynolds was convicted on Aug. 22, 1995 of 12 counts of sexual assault, obstruction of justice and solicitation of child pornography, was sentenced to five years in prison, and resigned his seat on October 1.

This.

I heard it involves a pizza place in DC.

p.s. I am not crazy.

I am passionate about human trafficking because I've dealt with it directly. It's among the most horrific aspects of the modern world and something we all need to work together to put an end to. As Blotto succinctly pointed out, it's a power and wealth issue between the haves and havenots; but that also includes the wants and wantnots. I don't aim to disappoint anyone or necessarily impress anyone with my posts. Every human should strive to see human trafficking end and we should demand our governments strive for the same. In all of my time working with the US government, there has always been a long standing policy of catching anyone involved in human trafficking as well as not doing any business with anyone associated with it.

Chilean police raid Catholic Church offices amid abuse probe

SANTIAGO, Chile — Police and prosecutors raided Roman Catholic Church offices in two Chilean cities Wednesday looking for files, investigative reports and documents related to a sex abuse scandal that has damaged the clergy’s reputation in the South American country.

The surprise raids targeted the headquarters of Santiago’s Ecclesiastical Court and the bishop’s office in Rancagua in the O’Higgins region, where 14 priests are accused of having had sexual relations with minors.

“In Chile, we are all subject to common justice,” said prosecutor Emiliano Arias, who led the raid in Santiago.

Cardinal Ricardo Ezzati, the archbishop of Santiago, said church officials “gave the prosecutor all the requested documentation.” He added that they are “available to cooperate with the civilian justice system in all that is required.”

In May, all of Chile’s 30-plus active bishops offered to quit over their collective guilt in failing to protect Chile’s children from priests who raped, groped and molested them.

Wednesday’s raids came as two leading Vatican investigators — Archbishop Charles Scicluna and Spanish Monsignor Jordi Bertomeu — are in Chile to investigate the sexual abuse of minors committed by clergy.

Scicluna and Bertomeu earlier put together a 2,300-page report that prompted Pope Francis to realize he had misjudged the Chilean situation.

On Monday, Francis began purging Chile’s Catholic hierarchy over the avalanche of sex abuse and cover-up cases, starting with accepting the resignations of the bishop at the center of the scandal and two others. More heads were expected to roll.

A Vatican statement Monday said Francis had accepted the resignations of Bishop Juan Barros of Osorno, Bishop Gonzalo Duarte of Valparaiso and Bishop Cristian Caro of Puerto Montt. He named a temporary leader for each diocese.

Barros, 61, has been at the center of Chile’s growing scandal ever since Francis appointed him bishop of Osorno in 2015 over the objections of the local faithful, the pope’s own sex abuse prevention advisers and some of Chile’s other bishops.

The report exposed evidence that the Chilean hierarchy systematically covered up and minimized abuse cases, destroying evidence of sex crimes, pressuring church investigators to discredit abuse accusations and showing “grave negligence” in protecting children from pedophile priests.

Those findings opened a Pandora’s Box of new accusations that led Francis to become the first pope to refer to a “culture of abuse and cover-up” in the Catholic Church.

The raids in Chile were reminiscent of the police search carried out in 2010 at the headquarters of the Catholic Church hierarchy in Belgium, which prompted Pope Benedict XVI to intervene and protest the “deplorable” intrusion in the Catholic Church’s legal process.

Belgian police took away computers and hundreds of files amid rumors that church leaders were continuing to cover up abuse cases. The raid prompted a Catholic panel investigating abuse to shut down in protest, saying Belgian authorities had betrayed the trust of nearly 500 victims who made complaints to the panel.

Children being ripped from their families at the border?

1. They are separated to determine if the people taking them across the border illegally are actually their parents or some kind of human trafficker going to sell them as sex slaves to some rich pedophile.

2. No separation occurs if the crossing occurs legally. If they simply present themselves at one of the 18 legal crossing checkpoints, no separation occurs.

Back to point 1, human trafficking and smuggling is a HUGE fucking problem. Many children are kidnapped solely because having a child with you gets you a free pass in to the USA. Whenever someone crosses illegally with a child, there's no way of telling if that child is actually theirs, or if the child was kidnapped for an insurance policy in case they were caught, or if the child was kidnapped and is being smuggled as part of a human trafficking ring to be sold off.

The separation MUST occur to find out because if the child isn't questioned away from the "parent" or "hostage taker" whichever it may be, the child is not going to tell the truth. They will be intimidated by the kidnapper who will have told the child they will be killed or their parents killed if they do not swear that the kidnapper is their legal guardian. Once they are separated and the child can be put at ease, given food, and water, gets to sit and watch cartoons in a comfy processing station, etc. they will be more likely to overcome any fear they may have of the kidnapper and tell the truth. Especially after being questioned multiple times about things like how long they have known the kidnapper, where they were born, how many siblings do they have, etc. They can cross answers with the kidnapper even if the child is too scared to tell the truth and see if the stories and answers match up.

Of course nobody will bring this obvious point up in the seven illegal immigration anti-Trump threads.

So your answer is to treat all parents like they are traffickers without any evidence.

No, thats the law enforcement answer to human trafficking. Illegal border crossings must be treated like this to prevent smugglers from bringing in kids they have kidnapped, for the reasons detailed above.

Im logical. If they bring their family legally across a point of entry claiming asylum they aren't seperated. If they hop the border with children they are apprehended and seperated until it can be figured out who everyone is. They are sent home with thier kids if they entered illegally.

Its the law. Its setup to prevent criminals from taking advantage of children.

You are inhumane for thinking we shouldn't stop coyotes raping women and children, or human traffickers from selling people. Thats what this thread is about.
