Arch Manning: Doing his best JAG impression to fool scouts

Sark can help him but he is going to have to do a little hand holding. Give him some stationary stuff. Give him some comebacks. Those are throws that even if they are off, the receiver can adjust to. Right now we are just letting him dangle. Sark can do it we watched him do that very thing with Jake Locker. He just needs to blow the dust off those old pages.

Which leads me to…what’s going on with Sark? With the play calling? With the sloppiness on his side of the ball over which he has control? I get helping arch along and the missed throws but the play calls are vanilla and defenses are ready for them. A concern? Or am I just not seeing it right?

you are a class act, That Guy. People on this forum were buttass wrong and assholes to you all last year and you still all class man! 🫡

What was he right about? Ewers held the team back from reaching its ultimate goal. Now we see why he wasn't replaced by Manning when it was beyond obvious a better option was needed.

If there are guys open on (most) every play, passing scheme by Sark is not the problem. But when you get your pick of elite QBs and none of them can hit guys the way you draw it up, that's also on Sark

Issue is with execution, assignments, discipline

I think CEO Sark (ie program building, talent acquisition, culture, messaging) is so much more developed than Sark the Coach. We are consistently ridiculously penalized and assignment un-sound despite retaining the entire coaching staff year after year

The team takes after the head coach and all this soft ass messaging bleeds over into how you hold your team accountable and coddle the QB position. Hearing "we'll get em next time" >>> "do your job" because I just don't think he's good at coaching guys HOW to do their job

Who is the better option?

there is a Grand Canyon sized chasm between God of Football and where he is now.  He is likely the worst starter on the roster right now.

Not between where God of Football was at the same point in his career and where Arch is now. Go look up VY's passing stats his RS Sophomore year (2004), especially in the first few games. People were calling for VY to be moved to WR, convinced he'd never be able to play the position.

Are you saying that 2004 North Texas is not a cream puff?

The game Texas scored 65 points, Vince completed 66% of his passes, and Nordgren was running the offense by the 2nd drive of the 2nd half? Do you really think those are similar, like at all?

Garrett Gilbert made bad decisions. He could throw a slant. He could hit a receiver standing still 7 yards away. Arch can't. We beat Ohio State with GG level QB play.

GG threw 10 TDs and 17 INTs. This is so fucking dumb. Just stop

Yes, he was. GG made bad decisions (under duress). Manning is making bad decisions and VERY bad throws. He's missing the easy read and he's throwing at the feet of open receivers. He looks like he has a rotator cuff / impingement issue...

This is currently very bad QB play. He should be in a position battle.

Convince yourself this is better execution than Swoopes, then tell me you're convinced and how you got there.

I still think something is broken. Arch has a very inconsistent throwing motion. Maybe he always has and I just haven't see enough of him. I don't know if he's watching Mahommes and trying to emulate that, but every pass looks different and so many passes are thrown late and low.

When he sets his feet and throws the way he's been trained, you can tell. The rest are random as hell and off target.

Something is... Off.

I wish I knew him so I could talk to him.

You too. Holy shit get ahold of yourselves. More TOs than TDs.

I mean we are 2-1

i see some teams in real trouble (some bc of being left behind in the realignment like Oregon State and Washington state and many others due to NIL stuff) we don’t have that issue. We have an elite defense. A tough one that is built to play all 60 minutes. We don’t know yet what will happen, the SEC looks a LOT softer this and last year. I don’t think it’s press the eject button time or bench time unless Arch regresses from today for the next game. I don’t have a clue what’s going on but the vibe is great on defense. I felt like even with the mistakes that last week offense seemed to gel somewhat. What happened all fucking week in practice man?

Yes. That is how bad Arch has been.  GG completed 66% of his passes for over 260 yards, 1 TD and 1 int, against UCLA in an absolutely terrible game. Arch completed 44% of his passes for under 120 yards and 1 TD and 1 int against fucking UTEP. Arch is objectively worse. What we saw today would have easily been 5 picks against middling Big 12 Teams of yesteryears.

I will have what you are having. We look terrible and our defense needs breaks and Arch cant even give them that. They will wear down.

Garrett Gilbert had more picks in one game than arch has in his career. Garrett Gilbert literally never had a game as good as Arch’s game last week. And I’m not saying Arch was impressive last week.

Honestly, for as bad as Arch has been, yall clearly do not remember what GG was. He never a single time  accounted for more than 2 TDs in a game. He averaged 6 yards an attempt. He only had 3 TOs free games.
This is wild shit you’re on.

Dude. Arch is going to throw those picks if he plays like this. I agree, GG had more opportunities to suck on a bad team. And he never sucked this hard. Arch will have those bad stats you want given time unless something drastic changes with him.

Bro. This is making my point.

GG made bad decisions. Arch is throwing the ball in the dirt on accident.

Trust me, I used to hammer GG for all kinds of craziness. I started the "what is he looking at? Why is he watching the ball?" talk.

But he was not doing this.

But he hasn’t. GG did. It’s ridiculous to say Arch has been at that level and Arch has been bad.

GG had 3 TDS, 3 INTs and a fumble lost 3 games into his starting season.

Enough with the comparisons to VY and how there were call for him to move to WR early in his time.

Arch doesn’t have the hands to be a WR.

Yes. You can conceivably coach someone to read defenses better. I don't know how you help someone who cant throw the ball accurately 7 yards.

Are you high? How is Arch the third on this list? Why isn’t Sark on your list? The wheels are falling off. Mike fucking Leach could have put 70 on this utep squad.

You clearly aren’t remembering the GG years well if you think reading defenses was his only issue. Hes one of the most inaccurate QBs we’ve ever had and could barely complete any forward pass until he had June Jones

He completed over 60% of his passes regularly. Manning missed everything today. Arch would not have hit 60% going against air. You're just ignoring the flashing red signs.

Vince never redshirted chief, G2 in his 3rd year was a W in the shoe en route to the natty. Hell, even G2 his true sophomore year was a comeback win @ Arkansas

Where is the game where GG played this poorly against this level of competition?

Where’s the game where GG played as well as Arch last week, or last year, against any competition?

Arch will not finish the season with more INTs than TDs. Let alone 1.5 times more INTs.
Just insane

This is stupid. Fine you win. Arch is maybe better than the worst QB over the last 20 years. What do you think that gets us? He is fucking atrocious.

Comparisons to VY need to stop in general, as a true freshman Vince was flashing potential like this vs a team that played for the national title. Arch is nowhere near that level of athlete, and if you took away Vince's running ability he likely wouldn't have even been a D1 QB

There would be less gripes about the play calling if the QB play was better. The kid is missing throws he could make in the 8th grade. He needs to stop pressing and relax. I hope his dad and uncles get in his ear about that. And I hope he is throwing to his WRs everyday after practice.

I hope you're right and only see two ways for it to happen: Either he gets a lot better very soon or he gets benched by Florida.

Look at the stats. Those points were almost entirely on the back of Cedric Benson.

And last week, Arch completed 66% of his passes... and also scored 5 touchdowns all by himself. VY only had one, passing or rushing.

VY sucked ass that game. And then the Mizzou game was even worse. Everyone and their dog was convinced that VY was never going to amount to shit, aggys were laughing at us, OU blanked us...

and then ... well...

lololololol BZZZZZT! Wrong!

VY was part of the 2002 class, and redshirted in 2002. Played a few downs in 2003. 2004 was his Redshirt Sophomore season.

Come on, man. At least get your facts right before you start barfing out internet stupidity.

Dude, he didn't suck ass that game. He just didn't have to do a lot. Had he played the whole game (like Arch has) he would have had 300 yards passing. These aren't comparable performances, like at all. Y'all are fucking insane for making this comparison.

There isn’t a playcaller in the world who could work with what Arch is offering right now and make it look good.

-Simple swing passes to RBs? Overthrown.

-Quick hitches to the perimeter? 2 feet out of bounds.

-1 v 1 with a receiver having 3 steps on a safety? Overthrown.

We had to take the ball out of our own QB’s hands in the second half and spam 4 yard runs against UTEP over and over. That was the most depressing moment for a Texas offense since we started a right tackle in the Strong era who had a nickname from the coaches about being afraid of contact.
