If the OL hadn't been a complete floating dumpster fire from day 1, he'd have improved a lot quicker, too.

so close to having beaten OSU

no you just said that he should be benched. but keep doubling and tripling down on it, that’s a great plan. 👌🏼

Yes back before OU when he was not playing well. Or do you not understand context?  I never said he sucked. He wasn’t improving.

Yep. It's almost like he's improving by leaps & bounds and the game is slowing down for him with all these game reps.

Who could have possibly seen that coming?

Imagine giving someone more than 12 starts before we start shitting on him?   Brand new OL as well

This guy is going to be really awesome next year if we can upgrade the talent around him. Props to Arch and the coaching staff for his improvement throughout the year.

See that shot of Arch right now after the TD looking at the ipad? My kid's friend on the training staff says every time they see him, he has his nose in that thing, totally locked in. In the training room, everywhere.

He's not nearly as good as he's gonna get. Fuck the non-believers.

Not me. I never said he sucked. I said he was missing the simple throws and he was. He still is today.  But it’s better.  He still needs to improve. .

Huh?  Was it in a game thread when they were destroying him and everyone said the teals sucked?  Yeah I probably said it might be best for him to transfer.

that's not “arch sucks”.  Nice try asshole.

How does he improve from the bench?

Before the OU game?  When they still had the season ahead of them? I through him being on the bench and watching some would help.

he got better.  Like this revisionist history shit is for the birds.  Yall are still blind if you’re acting like my criticism is not valid.  He will have to be better even next week to beat Aggy. And next year to win a title.

no you’re right, we should have benched him back before the ou game. that would have been a good idea. lol.

i was wrong.

feel free to copy/paste that ^^^ if you’re still having trouble typing it out yourself.

if we had benched arch he would have left the program. how does that help?

your idea to bench him was a stupid idea, and it matters not one iota *when* you posited said stupid idea. the fact that you’re quintupling down on it several weeks after the fact, on a day where arch currently has 6 td’s, is hilarious.

Once again he was NOT good at Florida.  It was a legitimate thogut. leave it to you to act like this has been cannonball year.

BTW he wasn’t good against Georgia after the 1st quarter either.

Exactly! I want arch here. I want him to be the guy.  Saying he doesn’t hit easy throws well enough is not hate. It’s literally factual. We all watch these damn gsmes.

i’m bending reality by quoting you? lmao, i guess its hard for some people to just say, “yeah i was wrong.”

wrong about what? On the "Caldwell should starts" thread, my literal response was "it's not happening, and it shouldn't happen"

should I look for other threads where I've said he needed time and isn't the problem on the team?

like this

"this is where I'm at. strangely, I think he had some areas of improvement today. you just have to hope he keeps improving on the situational awareness side, because the change people want isn't coming. can only hope this is the true growth year"

or this

"There is no way Arch is a 2-star or 3-star QB who got boosted to 5-star simply because of his name. All the premier programs didn't want him just because of his name. Sometimes 5-stars don't make it. It happens. His story isn't done yet. And I'm a critic"

I mean, I know you don't have a full deck on the best of days, so whatever helps you feel better about yourself.

lol ok, i now understand what you meant by “selective quoting”. like im just fully versed in your entire posting catalogue and i went out of my way to choose to quote the post you made from this thread, instead of finding and quoting something neutral that you’ve said about arch from some random other thread. yeah, that’s a rational reaction. and im not playing with a full deck? lol.

you gave up on Arch and then posited that Sark wouldn’t even have an honest qb battle next year (spoiler alert: he won’t, Arch is our starter), and now you’re all in your feels because you got quoted on it.

everyone who gave up on arch after half a season as our starter is a moron for doing so, and if me quoting you on that hurts your feelings then i couldn’t possibly care less. hilarious how bad everyone is at owning the things they’ve posted.

i remember when @gurt said that there was literally no downside to benching arch, and that we were tanking our season by not benching him and moving on. i wonder if he’ll just say, “yeah i was wrong” or if he wants to join to chorus of people who wanted to bench arch and now refuse to admit that that was a bad idea.

Derka, we got absolutely smoked last week vs Georgia. If you didn't come here swinging your dick around then you shouldn't do it now. Everyone can see Arch is playing better.

First, some people just want to be miserable, even when things are good

Second, fighting about who is fighting or isn't fighting (I'm not fighting, you're fighting) reminds me of my two sons.  Bickering like old ladies.  Annoying as Pete Thamel.

I’ll give the two who are still bitching credit.   Never giving up.  Everyone else hiding like the nazis in Argentina

i’m not swinging my dick- that would be me touting my own posts. i’m shaming the absolute morons who thought that it would be a good idea for Sark to blow up our entire football program after 7 total starts under Arch Manning. benching Arch was such an incomprehensibly stupid idea (it essentially guarantees that not only arch but sark would be done at Texas) that anyone who publicly advocated for it deserves all of the shame that comes their way. that some of them are *still* defending their moronic takes is hilarious.

The problems are and have been what we are and have been asking players to do. Early in the season it was clear Arch was overwhelmed and didn't have command of the offense. I was under the impression Sark needed to change the offense to fit what Arch was good at. Most of the people thinking Arch should sit were doing so on the basis that Sark wasn't going to adjust since he hadn't up until now. So under those thoughts I can see why they were concerned. However, Sark actually has changed his offense quite considerably and Arch has responded positively. That said unless you had Sark completely changing up his offensive philosophy, something he hadn't done in 5 years here, all of us missed the mark.

Well, he doesn't always stick to the change and the offense suffers, but otherwise agreed.

The argument a couple weeks ago was we went to the dunk and dunk because that’s all arch can handle. Today not so much

Arkansas is not a good measuring stick. Georgia is.

What makes you conclude that? He only averaged nearly 13 yards per catch. That’s horrible!!!

He can make the throws if given the time and pocket. He didn't have those vs Georgia, that's not on Arch.

True, but Arch has gotten a lot better since we finally have a functioning OL and Sark started running plays more suited to his skillset.

Arch is saving his best football for the end of the season. He was awesome against Arky today.
Bring on aggy!
We won't have wide open receivers every play against aggy, but I do like our chances more than I did this morning.

aggy is better on both sides of the ball than they were last year, that's not debatable. That said, they don't look like some sort of once in a generation unbeatable team either. We can and should beat them at home, but we'll see which Longhorn team shows up for that one.

Arch didn’t play bad at Georgia.  They were a better team at every position with better coaches. Swap QBs and Arch crushes us.

Something tells me this was the Arch that Sark saw preseason. He just didn’t realize that part of the reason was our awful defense.

Sark wasn't running this offense at the beginning of the season. Just ask @Thatguy or watch his film studies.

Aggies will another test for him.   I thought he was decent against UGA until Kirby rawdogged us with the punt.

They will be pressuring him like crazy so we shall see

I didn't say anything about the offense changes.  The reports coming out of camp were that Arch looked great.  That is what Sark saw and why he had confidence in Arch. Unfortunately Arch was practicing against an awful defense.

In shells, no less, bc Sark didn't wanna run too many full-contact practices.
