Tim and the Gators WON a regional tournament in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2023, and 2024.

This is our 17th straight tournament bid. 17th.

We made the championship finals in 2011, 2017, and 2023.

If it’s not coaching, then we are truly lucky as hell.

But better coaching than white, who has made at least the Supers every year he’s been a head coach, as a reason to win?

That's not what i was saying, but way to be insecure about it.  No one is denying Walton is a good coach and has done great things at Florida.

The rationale for picking Florida over Texas *in tomorrow's matchup only* was allegedly about Walton > White in terms of coaching, which has not been the case in 3 of the last 4 matchups, since Texas is 3-1 over the last 4 against Florida - 1 neutral site, 3 games at Florida.

Texas and Mike White have also won the regional in 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.  Every season Mike has been a HC, he has made at least the super regionals, at both Oregon and Texas.  Texas has been to 2 of the last 3 championship finals as well, which you know, and unluckily ran into the OU buzzsaw. As you did in 2023.

Texas is 2-0 all time versus Florida in the WCWS (2013, 2024).  Tim Walton's team hasn't scored a run against Texas in 2 appearances in OKC (0-3, 0-10).

Also fun fact - OU has been in every WCWS final since 2021.  The only other teams to appear during that run? Florida State (2021, 2023) and Texas (2022, 2024)

Unless Florida changed their name to Florida State, you did not make the finals in 2023.

I deleted my post before either of you responded.   I always hate it when work interferes with my shit posting concentration.

I guess while we’re at it, I also have to issue a correction. Last year I said Texas was the best softball program to never win a championship. I recently found out OKST has more World Series appearances than we do, and they haven’t won a title before either. OKST congratulations you’re the best to never win it all….for now

Technically, we are down the line a bit due to being such a latecomer to the sport, but in terms of 21st century recency, yes - it's OKST, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas as the best programs to not win one in this millennium. No offense to those small schools who went a bunch of times in the 70s and 80s.

Last trip in parenthesis

OKST (2024) - 0 titles in 16 trips
Northern Colorado (1979) - 0 titles in 11 trips
South Carolina (1997) - 0 titles in 11 trips
Nebraska (2013), Tennessee (2025), Oregon (2025) - 0 titles in 9 trips
Illinois State (1981), Western Illinois (1982), Texas (2025), - 0 titles in 8 trips
Missouri (2011), Cal Poly Pomona (1989), Kansas (1992) - 0 titles in 7 trips

Texas and Tenn both have 2 appearances in the finals with no titles.  OKST has only been once.  Oregon, Nebraska, South Carolina have never made the finals.

Texas is the best program in recent history without a title - 2 trips in the last 3 years without a title. If it wasn't for 2018, FSU would be up there too.  They went to the finals in 2018, 2021, 2023

Also with Tenn picking up the ASUN POY, look for some of the other Tenn pitchers to transfer, i.e., Peyton Tanner coming back to the Lone Star State.

She was a #4 ranked recruit, threw a perfect game as a freshman and only threw 25 innings this year. Pickens almost 200 IP this year.  She really got no development, since Pickens and Mardjetko got 77% of Tenn's innings.

By contrast, even with how much we leaned on TK (175 IP), Cam the freshman got 2x as many innings as Tanner (59) did.  Pickens was just over 50% of Tenn's innings by herself - TK was only 45% of Texas'

I am really excited to see Cam's development after the offseason - TK, Cit, Cam, Wells and a transfer (Tanner?) is a good staff.  JR, SR, SO, FR, and a younger transfer

I would pitch Kavan game 1 against Florida and get the win. After that, I would pitch by committee for OU/Tenn and see if you can steal that game. If not, we bracket switch and start throwing Kavan for the elimination games and hopefully backdoor our way to the championship.

No doubt. And you win and get a day off until Saturday. Obviously you want to win your bracket games because you get a day off in between. Win Thursday, win Saturday, go straight to Monday.

Freshman All-American Char Lorenz has entered the transfer portal. The Louisville utility player batted .368 with 11 doubles, 9 home runs, 53 RBIs and 13 stolen bases, earning an All-ACC Second Team nod.

If I were a betting man, I would say Kentucky for this one.

I think TK pitches in every game from here on out. Either as the starter or in a relief role.

Shea O'Leary transferred to UT Tyler as a grad student in '23.   Checking stats,  she was 16-4 with a 1.51 era.  Team finished 2nd at the DII CWS.   Hope Shea is now successful in life and her Graves Disease is controlled.   #LifetimeLonghorn

Softball is no different than baseball. As recently as 10 years ago low 90’s was a good fastball. Now every team has at least one guy who can touch 100. Imagine facing Michelle Smith or Monica Abbott from 40 feet, when they were touching 73 MPH. They don’t need to love the mound back, they need to move the fences back to 230’ minimum. That will stop the half swing HR that have become so common.

agree with this big.  you can also have legit hard hit off the wall doubles instead of singles.  extending the bases a bit would also eliminate slap hitters and limit pound the ball into the ground infield hits.

Barbers Hill soph Macie Bryant was named #1 overall recruit by EIS for the 2027 class.

You'd think (hope?) Texas is a frontrunner for her, with TK graduating after the 2027 season.  Wow that also just made me feel sad, even though I know we still have 2 more years of her, and hopefully 2 more trips to OKC with her in the circle.  Can't think of a Texas pitcher besides Cat and Blaire who deserves 4 trips to OKC. And Blaire only got 1 😭

I think Bryant is making her decision in the fall?

I mean, Canady, Pickens, Kenzie Brown of ASU were first team, they’re all better.

Yeah, no issue with her being 2nd Team All American.  Canady and Pickens are ELITE and Brown was very good for ASU

Canady - .89 in 205 innings
Pickens - 1.00 in 204 innings
TK - 2.56 in 175.1 innings

Sam Landry for D1 Softball First Team AA And Brown got 2nd Team.  Jordy Bahl was First Team as a pitcher/utility player since she hits too (and Canady could have also qualified under that).  TK joined by Brown, Maya Johnson (Belmont) and Robyn Herron (Arky) on the 2nd team

They definitely need an Honorable Mention team - someone like Joley or Maloney should have been included on that list.

Barbers Hill plays Melissa tomorrow night. I would love to watch this game between two of the best teams in the nation.

Hope they get Finlee Williams off that team too, she is real good.  Remind you of a Mia with power and speed output.

Pretty whack to not have Kavan as a first team all american. Hope she shuts those clowns up this weekend.

Kavan is legit.  Odd overlook.

Good morning, game fans.   Here’s to a good game with an umpire that is consistent with a narrow zone that makes people get the bat off their damn shoulders.   Let’s both get out of this thing without using a ton of pitchers and with nobody getting injured.

Yeah sure that all sounds great as long as Texas wins 🤘

Wallace? Okay I guess

What did Katie C do to Mike? Besides lay down the most perfect clutch sac bunt in the 10th inning of a super regional game that we had to win

Unless we are going for more speed and create chaos
