Didn't happen and the crowd was still so well-behaved. Bunch of bitches. My kids had fun at least.

I'm the biggest Mavs fan I know outside of my son, and I don't feel anything at all anymore. Good ride.

Anyone yapping about getting a better "return" can get fucked. You don't trade a player like that. Ever. You fire the coach and everyone in the front office first.
I know these people probably only travel by private jet or helicopter and those don't seem to have many issues, so all I can do is hope and pray that the next time they have to slum it in a caravan of Escalades, maybe the right one gets hit by a city bus.

If you can’t make it work with a player like Luka it’s a failure of management, not the player.

You guys see Cuban wearing a Davis #3 shirsey after he gave Luka love last night post game? lol

Honestly thought mavs fans did well last night. Wasn’t a trade anybody who’s followed that team for years or decade would’ve asked for in a million years…even the player traded didn’t ask for it. Still makes no sense and you’re paying for it heavily, that’s if you’re even a fan still.

It’ll be something to tell your grand kids about tho.

If Luka goes undefeated against Dallas for the rest of his career would be the dot in the ! after it’s all said and done.

I could totally believe this.  I think this was driven by Nico

It absolutely was Nico-driven. I'm on the record that I think he's gone this summer after the financial fallout becomes much more apparent. You cannot make a move that loses the franchise "...over 9 figures" (according to MacMahon) and keep your job.

I know this is a bit of backtracking and probably unpopular, but I do think, years from now, I could forgive Dumont if he actually came out and said he was a basketball idiot and made a mistake leaving all the basketball decisions to Nico. Of course, this would be after he made the right call and fired Nico and Kidd. There's a path where the Mavs could be a really good team 4-5 years from now, but they need to hit the restart button now to make that happen.

Nico seems to be a narcissist who tries to outsmart the room.   Maybe Luka is a jerk behind the scenes and this was personal?  You cost the guy over 100m and I think you likely knew he was closing on a house

I definitely think there was mutual dislike between Luka and Nico and it was personal.  But if you have any basketball/business sense at all as the owner or just any basic idea of what franchise you bought and what the fanbase (your customer) values, you choose Luka over the GM all day every day.    It's a big reason why, Nico aside, I can never respect Dumont in any way as an owner.  It's gross negligence to be this clueless about such a massive investment and to not seek out multiple opinions before trading your most valuable asset.  Forget basketball - I don't know how anyone can respect him as a businessman after this.   For all of Cuban's faults (and yes there were many) he built a massive brand in Dallas and significantly increased the value of the franchise during his tenure in the process.  He built fanbase loyalty even in down years.  My friend that just opted out of renewal after 25 years (his first purchase after getting a real job was season tickets) could not have fathomed a scenario he wouldn't renew 6 months ago.   How does Dumont not float this by Cuban?  There is no doubt in my mind Cuban would have strongly advised him that it would be the dumbest thing he could ever do and laid out all of the reasons why.  So unlike someone mentioned above, there really isn't a scenario where I could forgive or in any way respect Dumont.

No it was the old cunt Adelson. Tank the franchise and move to Vegas. Fuck Nico for being her yes man and following such a stupid order. There is no other logical explanation for this bullshit. The tribute and their social media posts were pathetic. You literally told him to get fucked. Did the same to the fans. I can't really comprehend why anyone is still attending these games. Must be corporate types who don't really care about the game and are just schmoozing and boozing with business partners.

Sure. Rich dipshits are known for their humility in their own abilities and letting other people make franchise altering decisions.

Cuban is douchebag, jackass owner that makes Jerry Jones look competent. He meddled in team affairs and caused Stern and the NBA to have a vendetta against Dallas that came to fruition against Miami 2006. He was a lightning in a bottle 2011 run to wasting Dirk's career here. And overall, he did waste his career here. Dallas should have been a lot better in his 20 year or so tenure. But they never put together consistent rosters around him. His antics were never 'cool'. And how we went after the 2011 title was terrible. He disbanded that team and went all in on D.Williams and D Howard. Struck out on both and we never won another playoff series for a decade. The end of Dirk's time here was a sad sight to watch with the teams we rolled out. Similar to Kobe's end but the Lakers got 5 titles, Dirk had the one.

You can see it...he never wanted to leave. This isn't Wade leaving cause he was at the end and coming back for a tribute...this just made him even more distraught and he took it out on the Mavs.

If you want to make a point don't start off with absurd hyperbole. Cowboys fans would sell their souls for a run like the Mavs have had over the last 25 years.

I've said it here recently, I've been a Cuban supporter since even before he bought the team, but I'm done. He destroyed his legacy by selling to those pieces of shit and leaving us all at their mercy.

And he's still better than Jerry in every way.

Might have been discussion on prior pages but from a 3rd person account of someone purportedly in the room (so take it for what it's worth which isn't much), but the story is there actually was some push back as it related to the terms of the deal (i.e., if we're going to do this we should go to market and get a better return either from Lakers or others as this isn't enough) and Nico just said, no, this is what we are doing and shut down any dissent.   I'm just choosing to believe that is accurate so I can focus my disdain on Nico and the fat moron that signed off on it.

We traded Luka Doncic and Quinton Grimes for an aging, fragile big man, a defensive 6th man, a guy who will be out of the league by the 26-27 season, and someone in middle school. I’ve got plenty of disdain for everyone.

This, although the new owner and her lackeys are far, far worse than Jerry. They are intentionally tanking the franchise. Jerry has at least tried to win he's just not smart enough to do much better than .500 most years.

Jerry's failures are a unique combination of putting $$ and publicity as priority #1 with winning a distant 2nd while also being both extremely arrogant and incompetent when it comes to managing a roster.  Completely different, and far worse, than Cuban.   I think Cuban put fans first to the detriment of year in and year out bottom line and genuinely tried his best to help make Dallas a winner despite plenty of mistakes in hindsight.  As noted above, it was a hell of a 25 year run.  I also absolutely blame him for hanging us out to dry selling to someone that is incompetent and only bought the team for a casino play.

Edit:  I know you are taking the position that this is an intentional tank for a franchise move.   I was open to that in the initial days but feel pretty comfortable siding with incompetence at this point for a lot of reasons that have been outlined in the weeks following not worth rehashing.

I agree re Cuban, he made plenty of mistakes, but also hit on some decisions, and always wanted to win. I also don't blame him necessarily for selling out either but to choose a despicable cunt like Adelson whose primary business interests are in Vegas, a newly opened pro sports market that now lacks only an NBA franchise, is just unforgivable. He can go to hell with the rest of those shitheads.

And they thought the little video would appease fans and allow us to get over it and move on.

All it did was illustrate how callous, clueless and incompetent they are. Another swift kick in the nuts for Mavs fans.

It is funny that Nico won't do any interviews.  If Dumont wasn't a pussy he should just come out and say "I made the call to do the trade that Nico brought, Nico traded him because I told him to do it and keep it quiet."

Dumont is a pussy bitch that he won't cover for his employee.  Nico is still an idiot but Dumont is worse, IMO.

I mentioned as it was happening, but that “tribute” video was fucking ridiculous.

It was a horrible time to do it.  It felt like they were mocking everybody.  So ill- timed and seemed disingenuous.
It made me sad then it made me pissed off all over again.

It was Nico’s all the way. It wasn’t orchestrated by him or his mother in law because they cannot and had no intention of moving the team. The conspiracy theory there is retarded.

Really?  That’s what you got out of that?  I’ll never pay to go to another game again as long as they own the team.  And, I was as pro gaming as the next Texan, but I am anti gaming in Texas if Sands gets the green light.

I’m just stating the obvious: Dumont is too stupid to have the basketball brains to tell Nico to pound sand. And tanking the team to move it to Vegas is an insane thought process. The NBA would never let them leave Dallas. So I guess me calling them incompetent, stating I will never support them, and calling stache an idiot is me taking a bullet for them.

The dumbest person to ever exist would know that was a stupid trade, it was intentional, but no surprise to see you stan for that wretched old bitch.

If the Adelsons truly were trying to recreate the movie Major League, did Clay Bennett ever intentionally tank the Sonics?

You’re the dumbest person discussing this so I’ll ignore you, but I’m not stan’ing for anyone, you disingenuous, overly political fuck.

I think Clay was always going to move the Sonics to okc

how much do we pin on Kidd?  Tim McMahon said he had no objection to the trade

A press conference without cameras or recording devices?  I honestly don't think I've ever heard of such a thing.

Just heard about this.  Hilarious.  It's amazing how much they continue to fuck up the PR aspect.   Instead of just doing the fucking press conference and giving non-answers to any Luka questions, these idiots once again highlighted their incompetence and it will be all anyone talks about locally on a slow sports day.

Hahahahaha what a fucking clownshow this franchise has become. He stands by his decision but won't allow this to be recorded/taped and only select media? Sounds like someone who knows he made a terrible decision. Even Jerry Jones faces the media after 30 years of bullshit.

This delusional motherfucker

"And to be honest with you, every trade I've made since I've been here has not been regarded as a good trade, and so sometimes it takes time. When I traded for Kyrie, it was met with a lot of skepticism and it was graded as a terrible trade and you didn't see it right away, but eventually everyone agreed that that was a great trade. When I traded for [Gafford] and [Washington], again, it was like, 'Oh, he gave up way too much. These guys aren't going to help us."

Posted

I just don't get how they keep making it fucking worse

If he had just had the damn media availability shortly after the trade, it wouldn't have died down, but it sure as fuck wouldn't be worse.

How TF does this pathetic coward get off having a hand picked media round table with NO recording or Video?!?

Actually, he's not delusional, he's a straight-up con man.

The Mavs were in a different space when those trades happened.  After we lost Brunson, we welcomed Kyrie.  Everyone knew we needed size, we welcomed Gafford and PJ coming here.

To compare those where you are filling holes to gutting the core of this franchise and this city.  You know what, fuck you Nico all over again.

Just shut the fuck up, and go away.

Who is he saying thought those were bad trades? Most Mavericks fans were pretty stoked about those moves. More revisionist history..

Posted

I didn't like the Kyrie trade because I thought he was a legit psychopath. He did fine here, kept most of his crazy under wraps, and contributed to last year's Finals run, so it turned out okay. Any comparison to the Luka trade is completely asinine. There is no legitimate basis for it which is why I know with 100% certainty that it was intentional to harm the franchise.
