The Trump Admin getting upset about Ontario using Reagan footage is quite ironic considering how often they use copyrighted music and video without permission.

Just another series of "Kavanaugh stops."  No worries, the SCOTUS just created two classes in America: (1) white people, who are free to go about their business with no interference from ICE and federal forces, and (2) everyone else, who can be stopped and detained functionally indefinitely whenever, wherever, as many times as ICE feels like it, and detained for as long as ICE feels like it.

My wife (white, born in Colombia to American parents when her dad was stationed there in the Navy) will be putting #1 to the test in January when we travel to Mexico and go through customs upon return.

Having "Place of Birth: Colombia" on her passport, we've already had high level discussions on "what ifs" and those will increase as we get closer to our travel date. Especially with the recent escalation in hostilities the regime has shown toward that nation.

Overreacting? Maybe. But maybe not.

There's a simple path.  Arrest ICE personnel committing illegal acts.  When the feds insist that they be released, do exactly what the feds have done on multiple recent occasions when ordered to release wrongfully detained persons: don't.

If Gavin or JD wants to be Prez…. If we ever do get a new one or are allowed to vote for a new one again… this is the way.

Want to come off like a true alpha? Want the dem brand to matter and not be seen as feckless, weak, racial identity / alphabet soup driven elitists?
Have the LA or Chicago PD arrest ICE officers.

New motto of the dems: Let’em hang.

That shit works on so many levels that just me typing it gave Chuck Schumer a cold shiver down his spine and he immediately called a republican to capitulate something… even if it was just his lunch order for their next meeting.

I keep a copy of my father's DD 214 with me. I was born overseas and yes, it makes me wonder how the typical Customs/Immigration officer will see that. It is a luck of the line I guess on who inspects your documents.

Don't spend the money you make. It's better than not making money to spend.

The problem right now is too many people are continuing to buy shit they don't need and that's propping the people who need to do something up enough for them not to give a fuck about what the admin is doing.

It seems you don't know how qualified immunity works in this country.

It's pretty clear you can't shoot an unarmed mentally handicapped person from 20 feet away, that that is an unconstitutional deprivation of life and liberty and use of excessive force.  But 99/100, that's immune.

Counterpoint.  The Rule of Law is dead.  The new rule is "yeah, I just locked up your piece of shit gestapo troops.  What are you gonna do about it?"

What we need is for Trumpist Federal Forces to open fire on masses of civilians, state officials, or both.  Make them go full fucking Fascist for all the nation and world to see.  Force the issue.  Make them show everyone EXACTLY what they are.  We need to read some Ghandi on non violence.  Make the brutal oppressor be brutal in the light of day.  It works.

Don't do a general strike.  Do a series of one day "boycotts".   No trip to Walmart or Target.  No on-line shopping.  No commerce of any kind.   Sure, people will shop the day before or after.  But one day boycotts like this send a pretty serious message that "we have more control than you fuckers think."

Imagine someone 25 years ago describing an America of roving bands of heavily armed government forces, who regularly and with great force grabbed and detained anyone they wanted to, demanding "papers please," but also even being arbitrary about what "papers" would satisfy them before they'd let you go.  Can you go to the store?  Church?  To visit your friends?  Outside your house on your porch?  Can you do any of those things without the fear of being grabbed and detained by masked men armed to the teeth?  Nope.

Imagine describing that America 25 years ago.  Everyone would have thought you were deranged.  Turns out, you just had a perfectly functioning time machine that let you see the future.

When did “stop and frisk” end?

I disagree with "don't do shit at work".   A fuck ton of corporations would welcome a way to cull their workforces and this would give them a reason.

Go to work and do your job.   But don't spend any money that day.  That's an impact that cost nothing to anyone except the message it sends.

If someone lives paycheck to paycheck and 100% of their paycheck goes toward rent/mortgage, car payments, utilities and food, where is the "disposable" income?

I remember being a poor college kid and that being my life.   Going out meant knowing where the cheapest happy hour drinks were and making sure it was a Mexican place so the chips and salsa were free.  And only doing that maybe 2-3 times a month.   Never going on Spring Break during the 5 years I was in school because I couldn't afford it and would work the extra hours that week because I was off from school.   Picking up holiday shifts and working Christmas, Thanksgiving and NY's day because they paid time and half.

That's the reality for most people in this country not the bubble that we live in here.

Not everyone should have disposable income.  Many people should not.   Should work like a bankruptcy case.  If you want to take taxpayer money from Government (loan payoffs, welfare, etc...), disclose to the government your financial situation.  A trustee/receiver should approve all of your spending requests until you no longer need government $$.  No more Starbucks, alcohol, cigarettes, entertainment, hair dos, etc....

The problem is how fascism works, and how we are in the end-game now.  One of the key elements is to (1) create oligopolies that cannot be avoided, and (2) intertwine them with the government.  An super effective tactic would be to boycott all the companies that donated to Trump's vanity project ballroom.  Here they are:

Altria Group

Amazon

Apple

Booz Allen Hamilton

Caterpillar

Coinbase

Comcast

Hard Rock International

Google

HP

Lockheed Martin

Meta

Micron Technology

Microsoft

NextEra Energy

Palantir Technologies

Ripple

Reynolds American

T-Mobile

Tether

Union Pacific Railroad

Good luck boycotting all of them.  I'm typing on a computer with a MS operating system.  My phone is an Apple.  My internet provider at the office is Comcast.  My printer is an HP.  I am consuming electricity generated (in part, because of how ERCOT works) by NextEra.  Half the goods I have in front of me and will buy this week traveled via Union Pacific shipping.   I have no choice.  These massive, functional monopolies/oligopolies completely occupy multiple layers of necessary functions for everyday life and business.

You CAN'T turn away, you CAN'T punish them....because there's nowhere else to turn.  And that is by design.  The fascist machinery has completed their task of creating a system where people do not own these businesses....the businesses own the people.  And Trumpco, at the top, owns the businesses.  He has demonstrated that he can, in an instant, deliver massive profits, or total destruction, to any of these enterprises.

We the people have been delivered to the fascists on a silver platter.

There are homes in Dallas that cost $1000/sf or more so that isn't an immediate red flag to me. But I do wonder a bit about what Jim said above -- Trump thinks the White House is a dump. I'd forgotten he said that. Wouldn't be completely on-brand for him to want to build some kind of presidential palace that would rival those he's no doubt fallen in love with in the Middle East and Russia?

You ignorant piece of shit.  ALL THAT YOU ARE is a consumer of Starbucks, cigs, entertainment, all of it.  It is your sole purpose for existence, and the only value you bring to society.  You are a resource, from which dollars are to be extracted.  That's it, full stop.  You have no rights, you have no independent dignity or value, other than the value you can deliver to the captive corporate machine.  And yes, the irony is that much of that is circular (the government extracts tax dollars, distributes them to people and enterprises, so those people and enterprises can spend them on goods and services to enrich oligarchs).  See any echoes of that in the current AI investment infrastructure, where outfits like Nvidia are financing enterprises that will purchase their chips?  Hmmmmm.....wonder where they got that model?

Stop thinking that we the people have any agency or value in this system.  We are simultaneously the product from which value should be extracted, and cost-centers that should be eliminated.  The irreconcilable tension between those two things has injected insanity into the system, and it's breaking down.  But that doesn't matter.  Profit must be made until the last piece of rubble hits the ground.

And you go along with it.  Because you blame the people who don't have a pot to piss in, instead of the people who built and control the whole fucking system.  You fucking idiot.

Don't forget, the portion of the electorate that would likely participate in a general strike is the portion that is a net positive on the budget and the larger contributors to GDP. The other half is a drain on all things fiscal (of all the ironies.....). It would cripple the country.
