I would  say Jeff traylor but after whiffing on a guy that was an alleged recruiting guru, they might try to find a guy that can actually . You know.. coach.  Whoever, hope it isn't a old retread trying to relight the magic.  Would rather take a chance on a young guy trying to work his way up.

Fedora would be a good hire

I have seen The Major mentioned and a new one is Nutter

https://thespun.com/college-football/houston-nutt-interested-in-coaching-job

I think Nutt would be a good hire too provided they made sure he hired top level recruiters and stayed on top of that

what he did taking over for Eddie O at Ole' Miss was pretty impressive, but once Eddie's recruits started to run out it was clear that Nutt did not have the heart or effort to recruit and he had just taken that job to get paid and have a chance at taking shots at Arkansas

he is tanned, rested, ready, probably spent a lot of time in one of those casistas with Mack and he might be ready to get back in the game and put in full effort.....it is clear he still likes breaking down the game and gets excited about it, but the recruiting will be an issue

the Nutt story and the Eddie O story show really dramatic differences when you look at them.....one guy that can recruit really well, but that is not a great game day coach, but when he turns that shit over to others and does the rawrawrwa rawrawrawa stuff and smashing beer cans on his head and recruits well he is playing for a NC probably

another guy that can coach, but is not good with the ra ra and smooching with the common folk and that runs a tight ship with coordinators and does not work well with coordinators that need some freedom and that probably needs others to really hit the trail recruiting

if Nutt can get some guys that recruit Texas well and he still has some contacts in SEC SEC SEC country to pick up a few guys (and take them from LaTech, UAB, USM and similar) he could kill it at UTSA

I think Major could do well there, but he needs to have the right coordinators and he needs to have his shit together and get UTSA into a bowl game probably his first season or shit might not go well

UTSA probably has some good players waiting for a good coach so there is potential there

I imagine San Antonio has a certain “appeal” for Major and Seamus.

Vic Mackey sending in his resume as coed coordinator already

No nutts.

Some other names thrown out, including Mike Riley and our very own Graham Harrell,

https://www.expressnews.com/sports/college_sports/utsa/amp/Former-San-Antonio-Commanders-coach-Mike-Riley-14882832.php

"Multiple candidates have been connected to the UTSA program, with Football Scoop reporting Wednesday morning that Alabama defensive coordinator Pete Golding, former Arkansas head coach Chad Morris and former Houston head coach Major Applewhite are in the mix. A report from Horns247 said USC offensive coordinator Graham Harrell interviewed for the UTSA opening Monday."

wow I had completely forgotten Riley coached at Nebraska....I was always thinking the Pelini years were just not long ago

he is 66 and worn out that would be a mistake

there is not a chance in hell Harrell is ready to be a head coach

If chad Morris wants The job, you hire him ASAP

he left SMU in a shit position and it looks like he went to Arkansas for the check and not much else

I don't think his son has what it takes to be a top D1-A QB either and if you get Chad you get the son and the son starting

I would let someone else take that chance I would take a chance on Major first even though I think he could have done better at UH (though I thought it was a fucked up job for him from the start and it was never going to work long term)

Pete golding is the guy bama stole from UTSA a season ago.  Very young at only 35.  Also I'm pretty sure Texas can pay Harrell more as a coordinator than UTSA would as a HC.  He's be better off turning the UT offense around and getting a bigger HC job a few years down the line.

Morris would be huge for them.
Nutt has some baggage. Remember he sued Ole Miss after they tried to link him to the NCAA investigation, so then he went cowboy and FOIA and got the call records where Freeze called the escort and then leaked them. And that same call records thing happened to Nutt when he was at Arkansas and banging a reporter. Ole Miss ended up settling with Nutt , but any school is going to take a look at his past and consider the ending at both schools and how he interacted with them.

top D1-A QBs don't go to UTSA.

You stop that right now! I fully support Houston Dale Nutt getting another head coaching gig. The world of college football needs HDN back in the game, heppin people.

Looks like Traylor it is.  He should hire Chris ash as his DC.  😂

Coach Traylor had his team ready on offense. McCormick  (Judson) had 197 yards running was a beast. Glad for coach Traylor

This is true - Runners win, but 2-0 against TX State and a “rebuilding” FCS school. Still need a little more sample to the schedule. CUSA is no joke, so we’ll see real soon!

I live in SA, so go Runners and no ill will meant. Just stating the obvious.

Their star RB’s name is Sincere which is fucking awesome.

Coach Traylor is doing great so far and is committed to finding TX, and mainly CenTex talent, to boost the roster/fan support.

i hope he can do some good at utsa. it's a solid school, great city that's starved for a winning program

As far as recruiting goes I like his philosophy of trying to lock down San Antonio first. Traylor should do a good job recruiting East Texas as well. Just having those two areas is a nice boost to getting talent.

If UTSA ever turns into a good winning program the sky is the limit just because of how people are of San Antonio.

They are all of a piece.

Runners get another win.  Although they sort of struggled against sub par competition.

I prefer "Roadies". Or "SAs" (pronounced halfway between "Es-says" and "Es-sehs"), ese.

I like his commitment to recruiting a lot of local kids from SA and central Texas

They're on TV again this Friday night in the PAC 12 Friday Night time slot.

They are doing their damndest to let it be known that they have a program.

C-USA after dark

Traylor has UTSA playing better, but they are playing the “adults” from BYU! I expect “woodshed” on the Roadrunners!

Traylor has UTSA looking very good. It's a shame that Harris has been hurt, but the team still playing well, across the board. What's really a shame is that #MensaTom didn't keep Traylor at Texas when he had the chance.

Dare I say it, UTSA had a better showing than UT today...

UTSA has a better coach for sure and his players ball for him.

They might get to a bowl game assuming we have 40 of them like usual  while we sit at home.
