Blaming S&C is an easy talking point when you don’t actually know what the problem is.

This, also it’s an area where Scipio feels he has some expertise…

If PK really did want to head back west would Texas “firing” him be doing him a favor? I am assuming he is owed his full contract and now he has no buyout allowing him to pick whichever job he wants.

Be prepared for more volatility. Even if Texas gives up the same pts per game. MUschamp is very aggressive. He will bury bad offense, but also get lit up occasionally by good offenses due to his aggression

Counter--Texas got lit up by bad offenses due to non aggression...see Florida, and several others that Texas won late.  The Georgia game was downright awful since Texas D seemingly conceded every 4th and whatever.

I feel like Sark wants a more suffocating style of defense to increase offensive possessions. The bend but don’t break is great until it breaks and the pass portion has been broken 4/5 years.

The bigger disappointments were on offense this past season, especially early--offensive line, and run game, with a young qb.  However, the shit show began in the offseason when we decided to cancel the spring game.  There were many awful decisions being made that had nothing to do with defense.  While the defense wasn't always aggressive, it did shut down the run, which is always the most basic step.  The offense flat out stunk for much of the season.

I just ventured over there and it took them 8 pages to figure out that Sark probably didn’t “fire” PK. Also, since Will was hired, Flood is definitely coming back.

I mean, I like Mischamp and he has a better understanding of the SEC than most, but PK did fine. He can't control the offendive ineptitude. Fire Akina and find someone else. Why fire PK + Akina, but Orphey is cool? I mean, he did show improvement during the season progression, but this totally sounds like desperation mode for Sark. I think CDC didn't just explain why we didn't make it, but after the last 2 seasons and being wingless against the two warm bodies on the schedule, he was forced to make the change.

I guess the good thing about Mischamp is he wants his players to kill everyone. He's the most passionate DC I've ever seen. He's still the only DC I've ever seen who almost ripped his own face off to get to the ears. At least I'll always have the memory of Sergio Kindle sending Taylor Potts to an uncharted dimension, so he knows when to send the dogs. Georgia's defense was much, much better with Mischamp advising.

What's wrong with Texas' S&C program? This sounds like one of those things 9.95ers say to sound like they aren't making shit up. Most issues Texas players and coaches faced were between the ears. There were too many penalties, drops, passes in the dirt, coverage busts, etc. A ton of guys have been drafted the last couple of years and there don't seem to be systemic injury issues.

IT has been pushing that Texas is not a very strong team. Waddlington has been saying that for a while. He believes they do not do enough heavy lifting. Lot of that is based on the OL. I have no opinion or knowledge on the veracity of that

Ian also mentioned within the last month that he felt UT would be better off if Sark had retained Tom Herman's S&C coach after he was hired as head coach. Boyd seems to really love the Urban Meyer/tOSU S&C program coaching tree. He discussed how Tom Herman tried to replicate at it UT. Hence why he feels Sark should've kept Yancy McKnight.

Speaking of which, multiple times during the breaking news afternoon OTF livestream Gerry & others mentioned they felt Sark partially made this move at DC becuz of Lane Kiffen becoming the head coach at LSU. Supposedly Muschamp being great at in-game adjustments is going to be need against a Lane Kiffen offense with LSU resources.

I love Freshwater, but fuck he's going to be a nightmare to recruit against. At least it's usually LSU/AGGY battling for certain players, and we usually have about 3-4 we all three go after (not even mentioning Bama, Ore, USC, Michigan, Ohio State, etc.) but with Mischamp at DC, he's a willing recruiter, loves Austin (he still has a house here after all of those years, and I doubt he ever thought he would be back).  I Do know he and his wife spend time in Austin  a few times a few a year for vacation, so he's very well acquainted with the schools, staff, players all over Texas.

I will bet Bo Barnes, Lefau, Ty Smith, Atkinson, Brad Spence, Hero Kanu, Justus Terry, Myron Charles, Sharma, Colin Simmons, Maraad Watson, Johnathan Cunningham. Zina Umeozulu, Richard Wesley and Smith Orogbo will be dogs coming inside or off edge. PK was quiet, Mischamp is not. Practices just got bumped to 11. I wish the best for Vasek, but it's time we let that dream go. He cannot stay healthy, and that's not his fault it's his body telling him it's time to hang it up before anything worse happens.

Does that mean Mischamp is a better DC? It's hard to tell, but what he does have going for him is he's been in this league and with Georgia in particular since 2021, and they won the title in 2022 and 2023, and have made the playoffs 5 times. He's been part of their CFP run in 4/5 times  they reached it. They made it once in 2017 before he arrived in 2021, and then made them in 2021, 2022, 2024, 2025. Dude has helped win them 2 titles in the last 4 years.

I'll hold out hope that he does a better job recruiting defensively, but also helps the defense grow first before actually sending the dogs to kill the opposite team. I think it's great we got him so we can concentrate on shoving Day and co heads in a locker, and since Hartline is gone, their WR recruiting may go down. He was elite-elite at recruiting WRs. So glad that mf'er is gone. Now all we need to do is convince him that to branch out and make more connections he needs to try his hand in an equally tough conference to see how well  he can recruit against the likes of Bama, Auburn, Florida, Miami, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Aggy, LSU (Who is arguably 1b to Ohio State WR recruiting), Ole Miss, etc. See what he can do there and help us out since Jackson doesn't seem to be developing WR's, he just takes a portal guy or two who have already been developed and it makes him look more competent than he is.

I'm all for gutting it all and starting over, Flood literally killed this team by himself with his lazy ass recruiting three-star kids and hoping they work OK out, rather than getting higher ranked kids that aren't a total project, use the portal to bring in immediate starters so we aren't having to laugh at the absurdity of seeing Connor Stroh out there moving his knees up and down, standing straight up like he's climbing a latter, and is literally so weak he can't move a DE/3/5-tech. He's just a dummy standing there waiting to get abused. His PFF grade that I last saw had him in the high 40s to mid 50s. Abasement.

I don't know about all of that, but I know Mischamp and Lane are really, really tight outside of football. Like, they take their boys fishing all the time. As far as I know, and this just a guess, but they have been bff for close to 15+ years. You would never know it since Mischamp doesn't get on social media much, but yeah, they're like really tight. I learned that when listening to Lane's interview with Theo Vonn (whatever you think about him, this is a totally different interview, and it's not layered with sexual innuendos. Theo took this interview extremely seriously, and you can tell. It pays off.) They went pretty deep (NTTAWWT) about friendship, trust, how to kill a team when your friend is on the other side (weirdly, they do discuss before the weekend of this or that happens, feel free to make an example out of us to show the players how humiliating it was). Recruiting is off-limits. It's all man for himself, so no Mack Brown queerity. But once the seasons are over, they're over. They spend Christmas together at Saban's house with Sark, Kirby, Mischamp, Lane, and several other friends and family, and a lot of coaches. He said they do not talk about football during the holidays. They all have their kids and families and usually stay with Saban until after the first of January. They're all extremely close from the Saban tree. Which I like a lot. It means they actually care about those people and their well-being, and will help at the drop of a hat. He said it's so crazy seeing a hard ass like

Anyway, the interview was really good, even if you don't care for Theo. He didn't do his usual dirty talk, he actually kept it real and on topic. He asked great questions, he's also very knowledgeable. I'm still floored he graduated college, even if it is LSU. This interview takes place months before the season, so no talk of LSU from Lane.

Muschamp is an upgrade, correct?

I personally think so. We've had some of our best defenses under him when he first coached here. He knows what he's doing, what he wants, he recruits, he's relentless, and he gets to coach a big name, blue blood powerhouse that he knows all about. He's been to the campus since Sark has been coach. There's a video on YouTube of him visiting a few years ago before we were about to leave for the CFP to take on Washington. He's seen talking to Sweat, Murphy, Baxter, Barron, Collins., AD Mitchell, and some other guys I can't remember.

So in the end-of-season program audit, Sark has identified the defense as the failure of this team’s success and the area that needs drastic overhaul?

He might not exactly be the genius some labeled him as.

Dude. I know, right? He was asked about that, and during games it's hard to keep your composure when  you're at a high level, but Kiffin said the moment the game ended and they were back in the locker rooms, win or defeated, Saban always gave him a hug. Saban, once the whistle blows dead is not even remotely the same as game day coach Saban. Lane said seeing him play Legos with his grandkids was the most beautiful thing he has ever seen. People think Tyrant, but  said if people could see who Nick really is as a human being, it would kill all of the mystery around him. He's night and day.

He was just talking about how every assistant that has worked under Nick ALWAYS  takes time to visit for the holidays because there is so much to do, and the house is incredible. It's only used for holidays, nothing else. So many kids and grandkids, and Saban hires a Santa to come over on the 25th to hand out gifts to the kids and grandkids. I really have a new found respect for both Saban and Freshwater. You can tell one is completely dialed in but once the whistle blows he let's it all go. While the other you can tell he has grown up. No more job hopping after a year, he just finally settled, turned down several  jobs, and then LSU opened, and that would be hard to turn down.

They ALL love Saban. The respect he has and the knowledge he has heen given said it made him grow up as a coach and take things more seriously or else every program out there, no matter if they're D1-NAIA will eventually decide  you aren't worth the trouble, so the more narcassism you put out there is just giving people reasons to not hire you. He said he knew he was joking, but schools pay a lot of money to win, and being a clown before you have won anything of notice is fool's gold. If you were hired because you're great as an OC/HC then that's what they expect. And f in 3 years you haven't figured out how to get past 8 wins, you'll be gone.

This seems to be an obvious change in style to me. Former head coach at multiple stops that Sark can trust to take care of more than just coaching the defense. It's like when we brought Patterson in but Will is actually committing to the title.

I really don't give a shit. I'm just sayin' calling it a "rye manhattan" is redundant. I personally prefer bourbon manhattans as well. Never heard anyone call a manhattan made with rye anything other than a manhattan, so it just sounded weird to see someone write "rye manhattan."

I noticed CJ saying the same thing during the OTF livestream. If this is really the case, why didn't anybody speculate about P.K. before the news today?

There were people chatting about it but never a concrete source. I think it got chalked up to internet message board nonsense, if you can even fathom such a thing exists.

Yeah it'd be like saying "Gin martini." Or "Kahlua White Russian." Or "butter pound cake."

Or "good hire" when your HFC hires Will Muschamp as DC.

Just... redundant.

Sadly, it appears that I order way more manhattans and martinis in public than either of you. I’ve ordered both from bartenders all over this country and they will ask for clarity or often just make a manhattan with bourbon. Most default a martini to vodka or ask which way as well. This really isn’t even a discussion. If you think I’m off on it, try ordering from different places than your frequent hangout.
