Selling public lands is back in the Senate version of the bill and it impacts 11 states (excluding Montana).

Sack got them to exclude Montana because he likes to hike in Glacier NP.

Basically all of Telluride, except the city, is avaiable sale. Much of the San Juans are for sale. A shitton of Colorado is for sale.

Fuck this administration.

It's even worse up in Grand, Summit, Eagle and Pitkin counties.

Yeah, this is far, far worse than the House version. Check out the map and article.  Basically all of the public lands in those 11 states will be up for sale.

And the map: https://www.arcgis.com/apps/instant/basic/index.html?appid=821970f0212d46d7aa854718aac42310

Nope.  This cannot stand.

I’ll try Cornyn, but the times I’ve tried to call Cruz’s office, it just goes to voicemail.

Well, yeah. It's hard to forward calls to Cancun, what with all the international charges and whatnot.

Oh, and the story here ain't just the selling of the land.  It's the buying, and who the buyers will be.  They'll get them for ass-cheap prices, and every buyer will be someone who previously outright purchased favor/status with the Regime.  It's the autocracy/oligarchy playbook.  All assets of the people will be transferred to the allies of the Regime.

Cruz doesn't have to do shit. As long as he tweets a few magat talking points, his dipshit base will vote for him. They may even give him money.

Also, I don’t think the senators of a state with like 1% public lands give a shit about public lands to begin with.

I honestly don’t know how we stop this.

Short answer: you don't.

The reality is that it is always the case that incredible things that take decades, even centuries to build, can be destroyed in minutes.  Building takes effort.  Destroying just takes one well-placed explosive charge.

We are going to lose public lands that took better than a century to accumulate.  Getting them back/replaced will take another century.  The damage being done by this Regime will not be repaired even by our great grandchildren's lifetime.

Cruz’s office doesn’t answer the phone.

Cruz was not elected to provide constituent services or listen to Texans.

Cornyn is still old-school enough to do both, and that is why he is going to be primaried by a felon

This.  There is no such thing as a statewide office any longer.  Just offices in service to Trump and Fox News.

You could be the Senior Senator from Texas, and vote to nuke Texas at he behest of Trump on the basis that it would "own the libs," and you'd win the vote of the surviving Texans by a 10 point margin.

Some of y'all are more defeatist than an alcoholic, suicidal Eeyore.

The actual answer, other than "Ohhh, Pooh, it's helpless. Just lay down and die" is to get off your ass and make some noise. Send it to people you know. It's called a groundswell for a reason. From multiple personal experiences, it does make a difference.

So here's the direct take action, followed from the link above. Takes 15 seconds.

https://act.wilderness.org/a/may25budgetbill-web

As for calls, @Biff Tannen and @Chewbacca, correct those work well.

In my personal experience from past lobbying and legislative efforts, calls are great. The last info I had was that emails had to be printed and put on desks. In the dark ages, it used to be faxes were king because of piling them up. The email thing may no longer be true, since I haven't worked legislative efforts in a while.

But hell you can also do both -- email and call.

Send it out to some family, friends. Find organizations that would push back and call and ask what they need help with. Volunteer, etc.

I agree and I’ve done these things. The link you provided is for the house, not the senate, but still good since they have to pass whatever version gets sent back to them from the senate.

But living in Texas, it is very easy to be defeatist when my senators could give two fucks what their democratic constituents want. They only care what they can lie to the magats about so they stay in power.

I don't disagree it sucks to be at the (seeming) whim of the political winds, whatever way they may be blowing.

I've been on the side of "insurmountable odds," specifically as it relates to legislation and the powers that be.

Getting individuals organized and coordinated in action does work though.

The "powers that be" love people in apathy. They essentially work for them.

As the saying goes, if you don't want people walking all over you, get off the floor.

I’m curious if any of the MAGA skiing enthusiasts on this board have considered how many ski resorts are located on public lands?

Telluride is absolutely beautiful. The mountain slopes directly bordering the town of Telluride would be for sale.

Same for basically every ski resort in CO (and probably Utah, but I haven't looked).  They're all federal land.

I love seeing all the redacted ignored posts from you dorks. I see nothing you post and it’s glorious knowing that given all the real estate I occupy in your defective brains. Now furiously type up another angry response I’ll never see.
