Wtf? Ford is going to be good. Yes he's behind Cal, but still.

Traded my boy Harry Ford for a spare AND they threw in another prospect?  Don't like it.

So Juan how’s that move over to Flushing working out for you? Enjoying playing for one of the worst run franchises in pro sports in America?

Yeah I can't see that passing league muster.

In other news, sure, why not. We'll find a spot for him.

The Mets spend a fuck ton of money. They are nowhere near the bottom of that list. You are talking about a league with the Marlins, Pirates and As in it.

Not sure amounts of money they spend doesn’t mean they aren’t poorly run as well.

Not sure why people think what the Dodgers are doing is bad. I'd be more pissed if they were just pocketing the money

Alonso, sounds Spanish.  Did he count towards the Mets' Hispanic percentage or not?

His grandfather was an immigrant from Spain.

The New York Mets and infielder Jorge Polanco are in agreement on a two-year, $40 million contract, sources told ESPN on Saturday, as the club pivots away from a transformational week following the losses of Edwin Diaz and Pete Alonso in free agency.

Polanco's deal, which is pending a physical, does not include an opt-out or deferred money, according to a source. The 12-year veteran sought a three-year deal in free agency but couldn't find one, settling for a two-year pact with a high annual average value.

Polanco, 32, is expected to primarily play first base, replacing Alonso, and also serve as designated hitter, though he gives New York infield insurance around the diamond. Polanco was a shortstop to begin his major league career with the Minnesota Twins before transitioning to mainly second base and designated hitter with the Seattle Mariners over the past two seasons. Polanco has yet to log an inning at first base at the major league level.

Bet the fanbase loves that move.

Man the A's have a really good core group of young players it's a shame they have to play in a minor league market/stadium and won't buy a few pitchers to compete and all those guys will be on different teams long before the franchise situation improves

The Athletics have acquired utilityman Jeff McNeil from the Mets in a trade that continues New York's offseason roster overhaul and adds a veteran presence to the Athletics' deep lineup.

The Mets, who will receive minor-league right-hander Yordan Rodríguez in the trade, are also sending $5.75 million to the Athletics to help cover McNeil's $15.75 million salary for the 2026 season. New York also agreed to pay McNeil's $2 million buyout if the A's don't exercise his $15.75 million club option for 2027.

Another Cali team trading away a low minor leaguer named Yordan?  They never learn.

The Pittsburgh Pirates took another step toward being a contender in 2026, agreeing to terms with All-Star first baseman/outfielder Ryan O'Hearn on a two-year, $29 million deal, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan on Tuesday.

It is the first multiple-year free agent deal that the Pirates have put together since 2016 as they look to give a boost to one of the worst offenses in the majors.

Holy shit. First multi-year FA deal since 2016?!

Who’s laughing now, kid that found that Skenes MLB debut patch card and didn’t take the pirates 30 years of home plate season tickets?! Huh? Huh!

Imagine telling local media that you’ve signed Ryan O’Hearn to help solve your offensive woes, then waiting for reporters to google who the hell Ryan O’Hearn is.

Tor gets the other Jap 3B.

Japanese third baseman Kazuma Okamoto and the Toronto Blue Jays are in agreement on a free agent contract, sources told ESPN.

The deal is worth $60 million over four years with a $5 million signing bonus, a source told ESPN, confirming multiple reports. Okamoto will have a $7 million salary this year and $16 million in each of the following three seasons, according to the Associated Press.

Okamoto, 29, has hit a league-best 248 home runs -- one more than Munetaka Murakami, who signed with the Chicago White Sox in December -- since entering Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball in 2015 with the Yomiuri Giants.

Entering 2025, Okamoto had hit 27 or more homers every season since 2018, but he tallied only 15 last season after missing roughly half of the season with an elbow injury from a collision at first base.

Okamoto is more than three years older than Murakami and doesn't have the peaks in homer total or high-end exit velocities, but he offers a much higher floor as a player. While Okamoto's homer totals dropped to 27 in 2024 and 15 in 2025, his batting average spiked to .280 and .327, along with his strikeout rate dropping to 16% then 11% in 2025.
