We may not land them, but recruiting under Miller reminds me of the early Barnes years.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but man Miller sure seems like a home run hire to me.

Texas Hoops Report: Staff likes the roster

The Texas Longhorns basketball team has completed summer workouts, and is set to return to the court August 25 when the fall semester begins.

After the summer workouts, one thing is clear. Sean Miller and staff like the roster they have put together. Some would say, of course they do. But I can just tell the fans that the staff really likes what they have to build in year one. The question is the why? OTF has that answer.

Dailyn Swain ...
The junior 6-foot-8 versatile forward is a pro, without question. The future NBA Draft questions will be determined by how much he improves his perimeter (three-point and one dribble) shot making in 2025-26. If he makes good enough gains, he will play his way into late first round/early second round contention after the season. His understanding of the game, offensive feel and playmaking and versatility on offense and defense are all high-end and that of a first round pick level prospect per a source close to the program.

Simeon Wilcher ...
Of all the players that have worked out throughout the summer, the 6-foot-4 junior guard may be getting the best reviews. His shot making is expected to make a jump this season. Not a single person in the program sees a sub-30% three-point shooter. Assuming what Wilcher has shown this summer carries over to games, expect a big jump as a senior. Part of that is expected to be Sean Miller's offense is going to be a very good fit for a player that Miller offered coming out of high school and coached against the last two seasons when at Xavier.

Matas Vokietaitas ...
The 7-foot sophomore has been a very consistent performer all summer. Strong and sure hands, increased playing strength through contact on both ends, runs floor with consistent and max effort, plays over either shoulder and has good offensive pace to his game in the half court. He's seen as future pro on some level after two seasons at Texas.

Nic Codie ...
Codie has taken some important and needed steps under Miller and staff this summer. The 6-foot-9 forward is seen as a very good fit in Miller's offense, and a player that can ascend in the SEC in year two and three. His ability to play facing up from a shot making and making the correct play making standpoint is key here.

Returning guards ...
Tramon Mark has not been released for full contact following a shoulder surgery. Miller and staff love his fit in what they do.

Chendall Weaver is looked upon as an improved player offensively headed into his final year. If he just becomes a more consistent threat, he takes the team to another level due to being the ultimate glue player and special athlete.

Jordan Pope will be a floor stretching three-point shot maker off the bench for this team. Pope was No. 40 in scoring average in the SEC last season, 25th in three-pointers made and top 25 in 3-point % a year ago.

Wildcards ...
Freshman PF John Clark impressed this summer to the point of the staff believing he has the chance to help the team this season. How much will be determined in the fall. He's reshaped his body quickly, and seen as a skilled and physical four-man.

If 6-foot-8 forward Declan Duru had been on campus all summer, he would be seen as a key piece to the 2025-26 puzzle. But that's not the case. He will report for fall camp, so he is well behind Cam Heide and Nic Codie. Duru's upside is that of a pro after two or three years in college, but how quickly he makes gains with Miller and staff in the fall will tell the story of his first season at Texas. He's seen as a top five most gifted player on this roster.

Texas current 2025-26 roster...
Tramon Mark, CG, 6-6, Gr. (10.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists)
