What the hell? This seems like a terrible move.

Lagway fucked the dog this year and I don’t think he had the options people were expecting.

IT with some current roster updates:

-Watching Christian Clark. Other teams are circling the waters. Things were trending well yesterday but nothing is officially signed.

-Hearing rumblings about McCutcheon not being happy

-Zina Umeozulu has one foot in the portal

-Filsaime and Kobe Black remained unsigned for 2026

Unsprurpsing that Clark would try to maximize his earning potential between his bowl game performance and our RB depth. I can't imagine they let him walk unless it's truly stupid money.

Whatever. I don't want to have to give up on him just yet but of the three 2025 wideouts, he's the least valuable. Not worth overextending for. Lucas Lovejoy has produced some bangers for us.

Also unsurprising since his brother left and we're linked to portal edges. The Florida kid was one thing - if you can stack the two deep with NFL talent and move Spence primarially off ball, you do it - but bringing in a JAG from Oklahoma State is another. I assume he is gone. That stings.

Thought Black might be squeezed out with the Rutgers CB coming in. Not a great loss for depth but if he wants a bigger role at this stage of his career it probably won't be here, so I get it. Saftey room is a little light, would like to keep Filsaime even though he looked iffy this year. Get the Akina off him for a year.

Then Baylor sounds like the spot for him.

Besides the fact that our offer was higher, maybe chip in for NIL moneybags. At least Burnt Ends, broke boy.

You may have better or any insight into this but is the lack of WR guys signed a Texas thing or a P4 wide thing? Assuming that the lack of clarity on WR coach impacts this timeline too, which also should have been clarified pre bowl no matter what IMO

Like how do you not know what you need to be looking for or have your guys locked down halfway through the portal window?

One would think that would change how you handle both internal guys and portal guys.

From my end it appears to be monumental mismanagement that would get you fired from any company that's even halfway decently run, no matter what the business may be.

This had been posted over and over again - but every team is dealing with this. Ohio St just had two 5 star WRs enter the portal.

Also, the WR coach isn’t making the decision on which WRs we go after.

There are better options than this but Flood is a size queen.

Also his Oregon State bio says he's an ag major, enjoys hiking, camping, and fishing, and wants to be a cattle rancher after football. Something tells me Austin's not a great fit.

Although I have to say, starting six games and not giving up a sack with Maalik Murphy back there is an accomplishment.

Former Oregon State OG Dylan Sikorski is visiting #Texas today,

@ontexasfootball

has learned. Started six games, saw 444 snaps.

Coming off of visits to Arkansas and Tennessee. 63.2 PFF grade last year, three years of eligibility remaining. Should be interesting

He only started a handful of games for a G5 school. Hopefully we have a fighting chance with this one!

Yeah, Sumrall told him goodbye immediately after he got hired and Florida managed to keep all of their other big names. I don't think teams were beating down his door at all.

Needs to be more like South Austin's mom and not discriminate on size

RS Freshman last season, I would have assumed they were looking for a little more ‘experience’.

if this is true our “gm” needs to be fired today. how can he say stuff like that. wtf

also i would be rather pissed if we lose clark

Clark has pulled the D'andre Moore Maneuver. He agreed to terms before the bowl and was set to return. He's now asking for something north of 3x the prior agreed amount and trending towards RB1 money. Signing Brown helps in that it takes some leverage away from Clark's end. While he played well in the Citrus Bowl, that doesn't mean anyone is ready to assume he's a 1200 yard back in 2026. I hope Texas gets the deal done, but these haven't gone our way during this portal period, for the most part.

Thinking about this further and I believe it has been mentioned by a couple of 9.95 sites that Filsaime played through a shoulder injury that could require offseason surgery that causes him to miss spring practice time.

The market can't be booming for him as is and that would just be another negative for whoever takes him in if he left.

I assume Filsaime resigns simply because there just can't be much of a market for him. Sure, he has the 5 star pedigree, but that's it. He's been limited in his snaps for 2 years and, this year when he played more, he didn't light the tape up. There simply can't be a big gap in a Texas offer and someone else's in the portal.

Agreed - pretty cringe for a player who got paid a shit ton of money for not doing a god damn thing to criticize the people signing off on the checks.

Pretty sure Wisner had 36 of those 37 forced missed tackles. I don't remember Baxter making anyone miss last season, but I assume he had 1 to be included in the stat.

UT does not have an ag program and Austin might as well be NYC compared ro Corvallis, Knoxville, or Fayettenam. We do like to play dress up in cowboy hats though and of course we have Bevo, so we've got that going for us.

Just saying there's an obvious potential culture fit issue if money/oportunity is similar across other suitors. I'm just speculating of course, maybe a fat bag cures all.

This is going to make me sound old, but I wish these guys like Lockett, Clark and Black would adopt the mindset of Brady. You may not be guaranteed a starting spot, but you will be paid well to play here. Come up through the system, compete and better yourself.

Also add in the fact that Wisners longest career run was 48 yards. Brown had an 88 and 75 yard TD run this year.

Brown will finish the runs that Wisner often got caught on.

I went to Texas and currently have a working cow calf operation, and I did not have the help of NIL money to do so. Jordan Shipley went to Texas and was working on a ranch when his accident happened. The easiest way to get into the cattle business is to have money. He said he wanted to be a cattle rancher not a vet.

Bro, our mascot is a cow. Not a fucking pig or some asshole that signed up to be blown apart by muskets defending the dream that his ancestors should one day be able to own other humans as property. Don't overthink this

This shit is going to be fucking wild. And of course Lane Kiffin is involved. I think this kid is probably going to be proper fucked, particularly if his NIL deal came from the athletic department funds. Which I'm guessing it did, hence the Big 10 contract.

I'm not getting into Burton's relationships with anyone on the Texas staff. That said, he's a smart guy in an information business. Running over the Texas program and its staff repeatedly probably isn't helpful for what he's building. As to wondering if I'm listening, don't. I don't listen to their stuff for many reasons, but mainly because that's not my media of preference. I read their stuff more or less each day, however.

Bizarre post in the way you hedge some things that we know are occurring or have occurred, and then take a face value other shit that hasn't been confirmed anywhere.

-Cam Coleman - Texas is 100% not the highest bidder and it isn't close. I guess you'd need to physically see the offer sheets to believe it?

-Richardson - Texas does not believe that he and his agent are serious and his agent has used Texas in a non-serious way before. They leaked visiting Texas to the media before Texas had spoken to the guy, allegedly.

-Zion Williams and Miami guy play different spots, with ZW being a NT and the other being a 3, I think. If ZW doesn't announce for Texas today, I'll be both surprised and dismayed. That one was done before he finished his paperwork. The Miami dude is making like 4 more visits, so if he leaves without shutting it down, I assume we can write him off.

-The Okie State guy thinks he's worth about 5x what Texas or likely anyone would pay him. I have zero expectations that they'll talk him down, but, hey, they're bringing him in, so we'll see.

-There's no "smoke" trying to retain Barnes. Muschamp is being forced to actively recruit the guy back to the team and that might not be enough. When Harris offered the guy new terms, he basically told him they were bringing in other guys more valuable than him and his snaps in 2026 wouldn't look any different than this year. Bear in mind, Muschamp never said that. Nansen never said that. It's become evident to Muschamp that Texas is being shockingly mismanaged. I don't know why he's surprised. He worked there before. There's always some massive and inexplicable dysfunction happening inside that organization.

-It's not certain that Texas and Black are parting ways. There's a lot of risk there, but they'd prefer to keep him. They're just not guaranteeing a starting spot. This is true for multiple players still unsigned right now.

-Texas still wants, and believe they lead for, the FSU Safety.

Who is yall's pick to replace Harris?

Cant understand how he survives the chaos of this portal period. This ass retarded conversation with Barnes and only lining up 3 guys at OL in the pre-portal period is asinine

You could hire a GA who could do better than that

This sucks. And to be honest, I don't get it. I mean, I get it for Zina. He's been patient, he's shown flashes in limited time, and we go out and chase an Edge in the portal, which is the LAST position we need. We need a fucking QB more than we need another edge. And here we have a relatively cheap player who we have developed, ready to take the next step, and we go after portal guys. At some point, fuck, play the guys you've recruited and developed who seem fucking good.

LSU writing checks to Lane for each Ole Miss win and now sending buyout money to Washington to break Williams contract may be the funniest part of this madness.
