So, you didn't see the clear knee down and you didn't see the facemask before it? Nice work, Ref.

easy to ignore penatlies on the Giants.

ha. Mingo sighting....

Mafah looks strong. RB situation gonna be interesting next year.

There MIGHT be three players on the Dallas defense worthy of keeping . The rest need to be gone next year

Probably 7. And that's being kind with Overshown, who looked like he was recovering from injury. All the rest of them are on the DL and we still desperately need an alpha edge rusher. The back 7, they probably need to replace the entire 2 deep. There's not a guy in the secondary I would care if they cut. I'd like to see Revel in TC a full year and removed from injury, but his biggest problem is he can't tackle.

And nowhere near enough draft capital or cap space to address all that.

If they do it right, they need to trade down the Packers first round pick to pick up some extra picks in rounds 2,3,4 ish range where they have decent chance to get safeties, LBs that can start and improve the roster. Biggest problem is they also need a good left tackle because they fucking blew it with Guyton.

Sure Jerry Jones the owner will fire the incompetent gm Jerry Jones for his failures . As long as money keeps rolling in no change in Dallas

Missed most of second half so far, but yeah, this team really sucks. It sucks so bad that people are going to start lying to others about their deep-seated love for the 'Boys. They'll burn their memorabilia. Sell their blue cars. This team is the pit of hell. Rooting for them is like dying from the slowest spreading disease on known to science.

Gotta believe that hundreds of people in the crowd try putting paper bags over their heads but are met by Gestapo like assholes who make them take them off. Don't give up the battle.

OK...

That's one small step backward for season.

One giant leap for draft time.

Let's goooo!!!

Giants could go from 2 to about 6 or 7. Nicely played.

Atlanta winning would help pick up one more tick. Other than that not much else to effect the Cowboys first pick.

Green Bay mainly matters if they get knocked out in the first round of playoffs. If they somehow get a win that cost several spots

update:

Falcons win, so Cowboys currently have the 12th overall pick.

Miami would have to beat New England to improve one more spot.

So where does this defense rank all time?

There were at 473 total points given up coming into this game, now at 507. That puts them at 6th all time worst. I think the Bengals loss today was already factored in.

Thankfully putting the bullet in the brain of this festering turd of a season. 31 years of futility upcoming.

I preface my comment with the fact that I am a Steelers fan and I do not like the Cowboys.

Never have, never will but, it’s a shame the franchise doesn’t have an Owner with the balls to fire the incompetent General Manager.

But hey, that Netflix series is really awesome.

Yes but you have to want to change if you're Jerry. He doesn't. He knows better than everyone else and he's a "football man". He'll die without this team reaching another Super Bowl.

quite telling none of these guys showed much interest or were contenders to become Coach of this team. but Jerry Jones can continue to tell himself he has the most desirable franchise, based of Forbes' ratings.

Agreed. Nowhere near the draft capital which means they'll have to go into free agency to address at leasts 3 spots and the Cowboys brainless trust has shown no effectiveness nor understanding of the free agent market so they'll either select bad players or overpay for mediocre ones.

Guyton's issue isn't his progress, he was getting better. His issue is he's always hurt and can't continue the momentum he's making. Still, it's only 2 years and he had gotten much better with his base and not overreaching as much. I wouldn't have an issue if he came back at LT or RT, but he's put so much time trying to learn LT, if he can show he's healthy and continues his ascension, then you have a good, not great LT. The major issue is RT, where Steels is just terrible. He's been a sieve for a few years but even his run blocking became inconsistent. At his price, he needs to be let go or demoted to swing. So yea, they do another OT, but IMO, it's because of Steele and Guyton's inability to stay healthy, not his play this year.

If you're trying to rebuild the team, you probably need (not want) these positions:

Defense:

Edge rusher (we couldn't get any pressure in crunch time)

3 LBs

3 CBs (and that's assuming Brand is coming back and healthy which is probably a bad assumption)

3 safeties

All of this is based on assumption you bring back a guy like Houston to be a situational pass rusher and hopefully Clowney to be a strongside rotational DE along with re-negotiating with Kenny Clark to bring his cap number down. Then you have Overshown and Revel, who I wouldn't count on and are just question marks at this point. Bland comes back, but frankly I wouldn't consider him anything but a CB3 and that's because you paid him and Jerrah hates looking like an asshole on these contracts.

Offense:

OT. Pick. Ty Smith had told you he doesn't want to be an OT and doesn't want to play the position. Martin said the same thing so they probably have to roll with Guyton as a starter and hope he can remain healthy. Which side are you going to put him on? It's probably easier to get a RT rather than a LT, so I probably go there, but the strength of this coaching staff is Klayton Adams and crew, so I'll defer to them.

WR. If the re-sign Pickens, then the strength of the team is probably the first 3 WRs, but questions abound after. Quit with the fucking Turpin experiment as anything but a situational player. He's not a WR, he's a gadget guy. Get a 4th WR. They're all over the place and not that hard to find. Probably want a true speed guy to. I think you need 2 WRs but you can probably get away with just getting 1.

TE. Need another one. Ferg is looking like Witten at 35 and Schoonmaker is a never was. You can probably get by with Ferg and BSF and then a FA TE. Be great to get someone who can truly test safeties with their speed but probably just get another blocking surface who can catch in a pinch.

RB. Today proved to me I don't want to overpay Javonte Williams. He was great this year but so was Rico Dowdle the year before/this year and today, we really didn't miss a beat with Mafah and Blue. If he wants to come back on a multi-year for under 5m with a few bonuses to get it to 5ish/year then cool, but otherwise, I let him go and get a UFA guy and rid with the young guys in Davis, Mafah, and Dim Blue plus Luebke as the FB. I think Williams, Blue, Davis/Mafah + FB would be great. We need to start carrying 4 RBs, which means Turpin is probably squeezed.

iOL - Have to figure out how to keep our depth at this position. Might have to give up 1 to get depth at OT.

It's a ton of work, even with 2 firsts, this team is so talentless especially on defense. Go back and look at the last 10 first two day draft picks on defense. Other than Micah, who they decided not to pay, it's fucking embarrassing. All of that written, if Jerrah goes away this offseason, then there is hope. Maybe. If he's back at the trigger, then it's another year and season of pain and delusion.

Worse defense in the history of organized sports

First back to back losing seasons since 2002. Definitely don't change anything, Jerry. You're doing great.

I just don't think Guyton is a left tackle, and probably a marginal right tackle. Might even be a better guard than tackle. They may have to take an LT with an early pick, unfortunately, despite all the major needs on D.

I think Steele is gone, despite the dead cap it will cost them. His contract was a disaster. Maybe they pick up an older tackle in free agency at a modest salary that still has something left in the tank.

At RB I don't want to overpay Javonte, either, but he is the only real veteran presence that is a do it all kind of guy they need, including pass protection, which is a huge deal. It's hard to trust young guys. We'll have to see what the market is on him, but it may very well be too high.

They need to get a pick for Turpin, who is a luxury guy that doesn't deliver enough for his salary. But there should be teams that feel they need guy like that. If Blue is on the roster, he probably takes the KR role.

It's just a shame how many middle round picks the shit away for basically nothing in return for most of them.

that’s a tricky thing. he legitimately had a pretty good season to warrant that contract. unfortunately he hasn’t played that well again.

Cowboys are trash.

for over 30 years now.

Thankfully this season can put to bed. Another failure that was doomed before it began due to front office incompetence. Dallas was riding high as the 2 seed going into the GB playoff game January 2024. They have never been the same since then. Mainly due to the front office thinking no changes needed to be made after that embarrassing beatdown. They will fire Eberflus and some other defensive coaches but the personnel won't change much and therefore, nothing will change on that side of the ball.

None

24% of the cap is just from Dak.

maybe the biggest mistake the jones dipshits have ever made. astronomical money for an average piece of shit with zero spine and a pea-sized brain.

It was a shitass season, but when you put it in the perspective of the first year of a new regime, really about what one should expect.

They weren't gonna win shit.

Pretty much as the same for the last 20 years or so. Somewhere around the middle, maybe in a fluke year stumble into a first round playoff loss

I mean people acting like this was the Titanic of Cowboys seasons compared to...?

Just a shit-ton of LOL at that.

nobody is saying that. everyone is saying it's fucking shit. par for the course. not some titanic-level disaster. those are your words.

I will say this - losing that game was, shockingly, a strategically competent move that I didn't expect.
