I think the finding out process has started already. Running off world class professors and researchers means you will now see students look elsewhere to go to school. Really sad time for the United States and schools like UT that are seeing a brain drain because 80 million clowns decided to elect one.

World class professors and researchers are overrated. We got Arch. /DT

Great Sports has left the chat

The bar was "good" sports, and Illinois has a fighting chance of winning the B1G in football this year (if you don't mind the lardass coach).

Woah, woah, woah!  Slow down, let's double back.  More detail.  Talk slowly.

Our youngest is comfortably auto-admit and is looking for a big prestigious state university with good sports, but probably won’t even apply to (and certainly will not enroll at) UT.

It’s crazy because so much of our family graduated from UT and loved it so much that being a Longhorn is part of our identity. But in talking through school options, I just keep finding myself saying “Fuck UT. It’s becoming a fascist shithole. Go somewhere else.”

It’s really depressing.

Boulder is nice...

Outside of the blatant extortion, what is it you can't believe?

That Columbia didn’t even put up a fight. They folded like a cheap suit.

As the father of a soon-to-be sophomore at UT, who is firmly in the moderate-liberal camp, not much as far as I can tell.  Not yet.  In 10 years, who knows?  But in 10 years, who knows anything?

Great point here. No one can, with any degree of accuracy, say how America and the world will look in a decade. Too many unknowns. The best you can do is attempt to use history as a guideline for what can possibly happen and how we all should react to the changes we will have to deal with. If you told Hitler in the summer of '33 that by the summer of '43 his cities would be getting bombed day and night he would not have believed it. Americans especially would not have believed their boys were the ones doing much of the heavy lifting of sending bombers over the Reich.

Again all you can do is prepare and attempt to anticipate changes. The only thing I know for sure is that fascism does not work in the long haul. How long that is I do not know, but I do know it will fail. You just hope that America and the rest of the countries on this planet haven't all gone to war again by the time it does fail.
