NC had been flirting with disaster all year. All 3 of their wins were by single digits. 6A playoffs could be really exciting this year, its more open than usual.

Duncanville just lost to Waxahachie 28-27. Like I said, 6A is way more open than usual. Playoffs should be fun.

The KVUE Friday Football Fever people are pretty goofy but I kinda like it.

I remember back in the late 80’s seeing the KVUE highlights for games. The guy who will forever stand out to me was Vic Lombardi. I remember he penned the nickname Pablo “Picasso” Jass for the sophomore QB for Lampasas back in 1994. I believe he gave him that nickname either after Lampasas beat LBJ in the playoff upset or not long before that.

He was the local Austin version of an ESPN caliber guy. Glad to see all the success he has had back home in Denver as well as beating cancer.

El Maton Tidehaven 38 Ganado 12

Matchup of 2A heavyweights goes down with DII Tidehaven taking out defending DI State Champion Indians at Ganado. This leaves Tidehaven 4-0 and hands Ganado their first loss in 17 games going back to East Bernard early last season. Both will almost certainly be contenders in the postseason for 2025.

For the record, Tidehaven is 3A D2 while Ganado is 2A D1.  We went to the game Friday night and Tidehaven is rock solid and should roll through Region IV with ease. Ganado is still very solid and I predict a Region IV final of Ganado vs Refugio.

Good catch.  My reading of  the index on DCTF was faulty.

To your point, ain't nobody with a brain looking at the result and thinking Ganado is ripe for the picking.

This kick would have won it for Boling vs Ganado. Double doink off the post

That show has gone to shit. Jeffrey Jones is a complete goober, constantly getting facts wrong. And three (I think) years in and he still thinks Vandegrift is Vandergriff.

I thought it was entertaining for what it’s supposed to be, it’s not ESPN Texas high school football devision.  I just don’t usually expect personality put into it so I enjoy the quirkiness of it over the old days of so and so beat 24-14.

I’ve read and debated Vandergift vs vandergiff in my head after a gummy, too many times.

Who’s the stud carrying Tidehaven?   The small towns that come competly out of no where it’s usually someone.

The Boys from Blessing are 37 -7 over the past 3 seasons, and are 4-0 in their 2025 campaign.  Paraphrasing from their DCTF excerpt: Tidehaven was supposed to be in a rebuilding year after going to the State Final in 2023, but put together a run to the State Semifinals in 2024. They return 9 offensive and 8 defensive starters.  The do return All=State DB TJ Galvan who is listed at 5'8", 170, 4.5.

Their coach David Lucio has been there 9 seasons.  In the smaller schools that can be as much a barometer as anything else.
