Money was clearly the reason why he left. Can't afford to keep him around when he's gonna be struggling for snaps next year.

If he's worried about opportunity after as many snaps as he got this year, then he's a loser. It's about getting paid first and foremost. Nothing wrong with that.

And this right here is exactly what the program wants you to think, and how they want people to respond. Shame.

I don’t see you making a funk about DMo leaving for more money.

I think we all know why…

And look at that! The play right after the Wingo play is Cam Williams being bull-rushed back into the QB for a sack. Couldn't have scripted it better if I tried. Meanwhile soon to be 1st round tackle Trevor Gooseby is sitting on the bench.

That was a Flood issue, not a Cam issue. Cam was being a player and played through injury. FLood should have been the adult and put in Goosby. Cam didn’t participate in most of the pre-daft events due to the injury. I’ll never understand your fascination with Cam.

Just simply because they stopped throwing him the ball. He just isn't the kind of receiver Sark likes. Sark wants everybody to be Devonta Smith. He has a type. Worthy, Bond, Golden, Wingo, only one of these dudes has hands but all are shifty and fast.

Yes, Sark is weird like that. He has this crazy fascination with WR that can turn 5 yard passes into 60 yard TDs and have NFL talent.

Yeah, just crazy to want players with elite talents. I really liked Livingstone, but it is plain to see that he doesn't have any elite physical traits. He has ok, but inconsistent hands. An average catch radius. Some speed, but not a burner. He doesn't have elite quickness. His best attributes are that he runs pretty good routes and knows where to be. Don't get me wrong, it is good to have those sorts of players around. But they shouldn't be a top 3 receiver on a national title contending team. The bigger issue is Sark's refusal to play more receivers. It is why we don't have any development from our young recruits and instead constantly have to portal in experienced receivers. He desperately needs to expand his rotation. One of the things I very much liked from PK was how much we subbed in young players on defense. Sometimes he got a bit too aggressive with it on key downs, but for the most part it was a huge positive for his defenses over the course of a season.

Because he was pretty trash. And it was all season. Injuries dont make you the most penalized lineman in the country. He was busted protections early in the season.

Indiana is whipping everyone's ass with zero homrerun hitters anywhere. There is something to be said for experience. But keep telling us different though. Cig is showing you why you are wrong.

That is great example. Let’s follow the exception to the rule and recruit 3 stars.

I really don’t have much respect for posters that call Texas players trash, especially one that limped through a playoff game. Maybe step away from the board a little while and try to gain some perspective

Indiana is a very well coached team with an elite QB. Omar Cooper JR and Elijah Sarratt are very good receivers with NFL futures. Livingstone's questionable hands are going to be a limiter for him if he ends up at Indiana. That's something they'll have to work on.

I keep hearing about how Wingo is elite in space. I have yet to see him be elite with the ball in space vs Ohio State and Georgia. You know, when we need him to be. What I saw was a guy who couldn't win against physical defense, falling with the slightest contact, dropping balls, and tripping on his own feet. I see a guy with a shit ton of potential but very little productivity. I'm mad at Wingo because he doesn't do anything we can rely on against quality competition.

Again, we lost 3 WR's and 3 RB's. The powers that be would like you to believe it's a money thing. Meanwhile we run the same two back and 3-4 receivers all season barring injury. If you are outside of that you don't play. But yeah, it's about the money.

We spent a lot of money on French, Terry, and Lockett. And wingo. And Mosely. It might actually be about the money. Especially when the guy you recruited to be the low dollar depth piece who loves Texas and wants to be here asks for WR1 money. Dante Moore also asked for WR1 money, and we paid for it last year but noped out of doing it again after we saw what it got us.

Just my opinion Parker had good hands and route running, just not elite speed or much ability to break tackles needed for better YAC.

Parker should help move the chains at INDY on 3rd downs...

There's obvious framing that comes out of these situations now. It's not, "hey I wanted to keep my same NIL amount and they told me they would pay me a lot less because I was being demoted for a new portal WR". There's no loyalty from both ends. This is the way of the world now. I wish the kid would've stayed given what he would do when Arch needed a bail out WR but I don't blame him for leaving nor do I blame Sark for being honest or moving him on for something possibly a lot better. It's all a numbers/dollars game now.

I mean, I think he is correct. We look to be spending big the portal on at least one receiver. We have a multiple young, talented players at receiver. There just isn't room for everyone. I personally wished we focused more on developing our recruits rather than getting splash portal hires. But so far during Sark's tenure I haven't seen much evidence that we 1) can develop receivers or 2) put any real emphasis or effort into it.

But they also have Charlie Becker, a sophomore, 2-star receiver who makes amazing catch after catch. He’s a tall, skinny white dude who’s not terribly fast but gets open and hangs on to the ball. Watch his catches vs Penn State, which were incredible, and he made the late catch against Ohio State that allowed them to run to run the clock down.

Could Cignetti think that Livingstone can perform that role for him? We shall see.

If Parker had elite hands, that would make sense. He doesn't. At all. That's not his strength. Maybe someone thinks they can teach him.

There’s really two philosophies and both have pros and cons. One is the Texas one where you go pay the elite athlete and hope he contributes for the one or two years he is here and the other is the Indiana one to pursue older, less-accomplished players who are coachable and highly motivated. Butler, of course, was able to compete at the top level in basketball w teams laden with homegrown seniors.

I find the scramble over the Auburn WR to be slightly concerning, and it may be more disruptive to your team than providing value.

I think the comparison for Texas fans is Lockett vs Livingstone. I think both are outside WRs who will make their living based on their ability to win 50/50 balls. LIvingstone displayed inconsistent hands this year. I loved the Lockett TD. The thing that stood out to as the not so subtle push off to gain some space. THat is something that is rarely called and has been generally missing with Texas WRs

As I said upthread the narrative being pushed by the admin is that these kids are leaving because "they are asking for too much money and we can't do that so..". This is untrue, and this is Parker and his rep's way of telling us and prospective teams that he was pushed out. I told you guys I had people behind the scenes. I tried to toss you guys a bone but you guys are just buying that 20 or so Longhorns are all just leaving because they are greedy. No! There are a couple but we are pushing most of them out.

Eh, fuck that guy.

It sucks that it's now part of modern college football that there's no real loyalty either way. Oh well. I have no issue with Sark pushing out guys if he can actually get better ones in there. We will see.

The talent is has the higher floor and ceiling. I think a lot of people are making a mistake on Cignetti. The guy is a black swan. One of the best coaches with your later model was the Purple Wizard. He never sniffed a NC. That is hard way to compete for titles, you have to shoot like 90-95% on your evaluations.

The problem that I am concerned about that @Dahobbs and @Codaxx aren't hearing is that a large reason we've been losing games is because we've had to grow up during the season due to a lack of experience. At the end of 2024 everyone said how Arch was going to come right in and be an immediate upgrade. I was screaming from the mountain top about some of the things I saw him struggling with and sure as shit he did struggle early on.

Sark has a bad habit of of not getting backups reps and keeping his rotations small. That hurt us when receivers went down. That hurt us with running backs. That hurt us on the line. That hurt us even with Arch Manning. If every season 50% of your team is learning on the job you are going to take some lumps that have you on the outside looking in.

Now it's going to be 2026. We are going to be breaking in new backs, receivers, and linemen. On D all 3 levels too. That may cost us a game or two before we get settled in just like it did this year. Then 2027 we break in another new QB and 15 more players from the portal.

See where I am going?

Sometimes you just have to coach up your roster and quit looking for shiny new objects everywhere else. Brennan Thompson just caught over 1000 yards this year. We could've used that. Sometimes the answer to your struggles is already on the bench.

Here’s the thing, you’re not the only poster here with access to inside information. Maybe some of us know exactly what Livingstone’s ask was for NIL. I didn’t want to lose the guy. But I also don’t want to pay him 800k. I didn’t want to pay Moore his absurd ask either. To be frank, I also am unconvinced Wingo is worth his fucking money either, but I don’t make those decisions.

Didn’t they say that Becker has been clocked in the 4.3s?

Some of you guys are arguing the same point from different angles. Money vs playing time.. it's the same thing.

The money goes to those expected to have the most playing time and most impact on the game. If he's likely to move down the depth chart then it doesn't make sense to pay him starter money. Being a starter somewhere else gets him starter money. It's all tied together. Saying he's leaving for the money or he's leaving because his playing time is about to take a hit are the same thing.

If you were told that the reason they let Parker go is because he asked for 800k then you had 9.95 information and not someone on the inside speaking their mind. There are levels. Parker is clearly telling the Longhorn faithful in so many words, they are lying about it. From the horses mouth.

9.95ers. Talking heads for the admin. 16-17 kids in the portal is not good. We were just making fun of aggy for this not too long ago.

The craziest part about all this is that it was Livingstone, he is even less of a value add than DMo. He wasn't making much this year, and he thought it was his time to cash in. Maybe it is, but not on this team.

For such a big time Longhorn, he apparently preferred OU through much of his recruitment. It wouldn't shock me at all if he ended up there.

He's not worth whatever PR scheme you think is being played against him. He's a JAG, with limited upside. Good luck to him, unless he goes to OU.

In that case, fuck him.

Please don’t speculate what I was told or by who. You’re insisting on the finality of your narrative without knowing jack shit about who I know and who I speak with, and you got upset with another poster about making assumptions about what you know. Now you’re doing the same thing.

Lol. You claimed the kid asked for 800k even after he is posting HIMSELF to say he was pushed out. So who looks to have the correct information here mr check writer?

So you are saying the kid comes to you, the check writer, to ask for a particular amount and then you go to the coach to see if that amount is in line with what they mentally allocated to said player?

There’s some truth to this. Sark does limit playing time for backups, and it’s having ramifications down the road. And it’s been shown multiple times in the playoffs that more mature teams do win more.

The issue I can’t reconcile is that the guys just won’t stay anymore as backups. They want to play a lot early, and by doing so they also get paid more when they portal.

So I can’t figure out how Sark fixes that. If he gives guys more minutes, he does jeopardize a few games, and he creates a situation where he helps those backups get bigger offers elsewhere in the portal.
