I definitely believe the NFL interest. I do not think Texas not suing a journalist is indicative of anything at all.

Try using that logic with your wife.

I saw an 8-4/9-3 type season as possible, but as more of a floor type outcome. Thinking being that there was a lot to be excited about, but we were replacing a ton of talent, so any step back on the DL, young QB struggles from Manning, and maybe a bad bounce or two could lead a few tough losses the likes of which we'd managed to avoid in 2023-24.

I did not expect to be sitting here at the end of October thinking 9-3 is the hard ceiling if absolutely everything goes right. Young and/or inexperienced players having upsand downs is one thing. The OL being the worst in P4 and the QB flirting with that level at times is another thing entirely. Spectacular failure of evaluation and development that can only be laid at the feet of the coaching staff.

I’m not a trust the coaches guy but how do they teach experience. We have a bunch of young new starters and older new starters that still need experience. We may not be the best at certain positions but we are definitely not the worst. If you want to say our coaches are shit for development and evaluation because we’re only 6-2 and not undefeated that’s cool. A lot of coaching staffs around the country are much worse if that’s the baseline.

our hiring process for football is all kinds of fucked up.

Maybe but not because of Sark. How many teams wouldn't swap HCs/staffs with Texas? tOSU, UGA.... then who? Probably ND and Bama? Aggy? It's like 5 teams.

The issue is that Sark has a history of conflicting statements regarding his NFL coaching prospects.

In 2007, ESPN reported Sark was offered the Oakland Raiders job but turned them down to remain at USC. The Raiders then issued a statement in response to the ESPN story saying they never offered Sark the job as they were still doing their due diligence on him.

After the Raiders issued the statement, Sark publicly confirmed the ESPN story was incorrect and he would remain at USC. Fast forward to a video of 2020 of Sark at a coaching clinic saying how he was offered the Raiders job but turned it down because it wasn’t the right fit for him. So which is it Sark? Were you offered the job or not?

Who fucking gives a fuck. What does that have to do with any of this?

Man, I gotta say.  While relapses happen and are more part of the process of recovery than not part of it, a guy that's a chronic relapser doesn't generally recover from them in a week or a month and certainly not by returning to the lifestyle that seemingly provoked the relapse.

For those poor souls, things tend to go off the rails and stay that way for long stretches of time.  Think Darryl Strawberry.

And why are we upset that he’s drinking?? Is it a thing since we’re not number 1 in the country or best offense and defense in country. We’re just good not great. I feel like if we were wasting all opponents and not allowing a point and best team in the country nobody would give a shit.

True twice but if true here it’s probably somewhat inevitable and you can establish 2 high profile crash and burns, possible one leave before at bama and now Texas isn’t exactly a rose garden right now. Who knows but perpetual drama filled disasters or leave just before could easily be explained here.

I had the same thought. My other thought was if he really has been drinking the entire past 5 years it hasn't kept him from being successful.

I don't think he's regularly drinking. He doesn't look like it or act like it. If he took a month off for some reason last winter well I'm just now hearing about it. He didn't punch some dude on 6th or get a dui or get caught fucking a trainer.

That was the question bro.  You’re saying his drinking is fucking up his job because we’re not the best team in the country. But if we were, would you give a shit about his drinking? Most coaches are all lying sacks of shit. They have to recruit for gods sake.

If drinking got him to the point he could elevate this program from the bottom of college football to being the only school with the chance to make the playoffs 3 straight years(not likely) then have your drink Sark.

After the success of the last couple years this team was going to eventually take a step back. I think everyone’s expectations of Arch blew expectations through the roof but he isn’t what we thought he’d be and that is exacerbated by how bad the OL is. Most of that does land at Sark’s feet but not all of it. If the playoffs every year are the expectation some of you have for Sark or any coach with the upcoming schedules then be prepared to be severely disappointed. Just because some of you think this team would be a lot better based on what you believe did or didn’t happen in the offseason doesn’t make it true.

It’s possible he’s a specific kind of alcoholic. One of my grandfathers could have a beer with anyone but that’d be about it. Almost. About every 2-3 years something would trigger him and he’d disappear for a 6-20 day bender that involved who the hell knows what. I was 6 when he died, so I’ve only heard the stories. They’re pretty wild. My grandmother would act like nothing happened.

The Sarkisian stories kind of remind of these.

It proves Sark has a proven history of lying about what transpires behind the scenes regarding his pursuit of NFL coaching jobs. The exact thing we’re fucking talking about right now.

Sark 2007: I was not offered the Oakland Raiders job.

Sark 2020: I was offered the Oakland Raiders job and I turned it down.

You say something like this, with appropriate caveats like “it’s possible” “kind of remind me,” and people without any reading comprehension are going be arguing “well CTJ said Sark goes on 20 day benders!” Im not blaming you but that’s how this shit gets started.

And then we have 40 pages of this absolutely embarrassing bickering.

The point I'm making isn't that he might be lying. It's that he might be telling the truth. People here don't see to understand that. Now whether he's drinking or not is something else.

I have a colleague that will promise his wife he’s close and leaving the airport about to meet her at their rendezvous spot for a nice weekend away. She’s already there, waiting at a restaurant, sorry honey baggage claim is slow I’ll be right there. Sorry honey rental car line was unbelievable. Sorry honey I’m 10 mins away.

he never left the house to go catch the flight. Why? You guessed it. On a bender.

other than these about twice a year he’s a 2-4 drinks a night functional alcoholic and he makes so much money, CEO, just rakes in the cash and leads a dedicated top notch team.

if he was sober he could lead a public company he’s that talented.

Well truth be told, he actually is

I don't know if Sark is cool to party with but my wife's close friend use to date him and said that he is very giving in bed. I'm paraphrasing a bit but she said that he has a magic tongue and after her second date with him, she threw away her rabbit. Further, she said, he is even better when he's had a few drinks.
