Why would the head of CBS News need 6 bodyguards?

Well, she’s worth a shit-ton of cash now that she sold her BS website to CBS/Paramount. I’d say if you are the CBS News head and you need armed protection like that, you’re probably doing things wrong — or a total asshole (or both).

John Oliver’s profile of Weis on his most recent show is worth watching.

Oh man, I’m gonna send it to my FIL. Blow up his whole world.

It still boggles my mind that a person in the news business (and i use that term very loosely when talking about Weiss) can look at CBS and think its abjectly biased.

We live in a world where Fox/OAN/Newsmax are the gold standard for news by almost a majority people.  Ugh.

She fired John Dickinson and rumors are that FOX’s Bret Baier will take his place. Show everybody what objective journalist you are, Bari.

Weiss now wants to gut, or even get rid of, CBS News' Standards & Practices unit for "having too much power"

Said one staffer, "They literally uphold journalistic standards,” one CBS News reporter said, adding that it would be “crazy” for the network to dissolve Standards and Practices.

So dumb. Not a single conservative was going to watch the episode or believe a single word that they hear secondhand. Forgotten the second credits rolled. Like always. So instead she shines a giant light on it.

Exactly what I thought, no one would have watched it now it's getting attention.

Which is exactly what Weiss wants so she can restock with people who will run the conservative slanted news she craves for "balance".

The creep of the conservative media apparatus is ramping up.  Nothing to worry about I’m sure.

That's fine, let her have it.  No one would watch Bari's vision of 60 Minutes, it would effectively kill off the show.

This is a line in the sand moment.

You can't "fight the good fight" as a CBS journalist in this situation. Ellison gave Bari the keys to create a "palatable" pro-Trump and pro-Israel news division. The goal is to manipulate and further shift the Overton window right with middle of the road viewers.

If the key staff members all leave, that will get tons of coverage and longtime 60 Minutes viewers will walk away from the show. In the end, ratings are all that matter. If people stop watching, then Bari Weiss fails.

Not necessarily related to this exact situation but Trump's lawsuits and withholding of mergers does create an atmosphere where news orgs have to take his response into account. News orgs can defy him but they run the risks to do so.

It's very likely that Netflix won't be able to buy Warner Bros/Discovery because they don't want CNN but Paramount does. And Trump would love to make CNN and revamping of its coverage as part of his approval of an acquisition.

60 Minutes asked the Trump administration to comment/participate, and they refused to do so.

Most likely after seeing the questions from CBS,  the Trump administration called David Ellison the owner of Paramount/CBS. They would have asked him how badly does he want HBO. Ellison then called Weiss to bury the story. She's being paid by him to take the abuse. Weiss wouldn't bat an eye if the entire 60 minutes staff quit.

If Weiss is going to set the bar that only new stories about the Trump administration are allowed, then they're basically not going to cover Trump and the white house.

That's not the bar they're trying to set. You're buying her bullshit. The whole point of Ellison and Weiss taking over CBS News is to normalize pro-Trump and pro-Israel "policies" and rhetoric. They will enthusiastically rehash "old" stories if it paints Trump and/or Israel in a positive light.

I'm buying any of her bs. It's the opposite. She is going to kill any story. Weiss is being paid to not care about what anything thinks except for Ellison and Trump, and Ellison believes whatever Trump wants. Her one hour special with Erika Kirk was laughed at by everyone in the media, no advertiser would pay normal ad rates, and no one watched. Weiss didn't care. It probably made Trump happy and that was the only thing that mattered.

This is no different than other Trump plays. Kill something from the inside. Have people quit due to outrage. Water down the organization until it is a shell of its former self. Then the organization dies which was entirely what he wanted.
