This. There’s a pro wrestling school in Austin that puts on shows every two weeks or so, and the style reminds me of the old territories.

Gotta say I'm impressed w/ Lando. He seems to be maturing and able to deal w/ setbacks so much better than even earlier in this season. Wouldn't have thought he had the fortitude. How different would the driver narrative be if Oscar had crashed them both out on 69?

There is no chance Trump knew who Charlamagne Tha God was before that.

The backstory. https://nypost.com/2025/08/03/us-news/trump-rips-lara-trump-guest-charlamagne-tha-god-after-epstein-claim/ Apologies for the NYP link, but Charlamagne apparently went on Lara's show on Fox and ripped Trump over Epstein. Provoking the latest insane screed.

I enjoyed it, and echo what many others have said that the retro future aesthetic is one of the biggest appeals. The suspension of disbelief didn’t bug me… the pacing did though. Just never really had a beat to process anything in the story.

I've asked why we should expect Dante Moore to be much improved now that he's at Oregon and no one has been able to provide any real sort of reasoning. Most just back it up with saying "well, he was really highly rated coming out of HS!" We've seen him actually play college ball, and it wasn't pretty. I'm sure Will Stein is telling all the 9.95ers that Moore is much improved though. -
I have the dvd of that Houston show in my stack of pre streaming concert dvds. Yea they could really play and had great songs up through Escape. Stoned in Love is as good as it gets from that era imo. Then they went the way of a lot of bands back then when the David Fosters of the world showed up and ruined it all. Pretty good run for what maybe 8-10 years of that kind of awesome fm album rock… And I would have been so into a Journey, Sammy Hagar, Judas Priest bill. Weird af but my 12yo self would not have known the difference.

That feels about right at this moment, but I think there’s a real risk that politics and the Fed losing credibility spooks the bond market. -

So the interviewer is the Black Rifle Coffee guy? I am aware, peripherally, of the Montana Knife guy. That is a surprisingly nuanced discussion from them. And this underscores something. In addition to a goodly number of manufacturing-type jobs we really don't want back because they're menial and hazardous, there are certain industries/manufacturers where it just doesn't make any sense to try to compete domestically with them. Germans and Swiss, for example, have always been good at precision specialty machine tools. Like the blade-grinding machine where they make a dozen a year in Germany. Neither the world nor the US needs another blade grinding machine manufacturer. Those things are kind of like coffee and bananas: it don't make no sense to have a domestic industry. I'm relatively certain there are dozens upon dozens of examples of this that are being tariffed for no good reason at all. ETA: that derek guy makes these points, especially the garment industry. I had to find a thread reader to read the thread. -
Not yet. USL won’t implement promotion and relegation until 2027 or 2028.

Agreed, but Baptist should be the more immediate concern. -
We don't even really talk about it here anymore when the President sends out messages to the world that are 100% nonsense. Forget actual news outlets treating them as if they are real stories they need to be covering. Just, "Yep, the president is insane alright. Nothing new there. So, wrestling talk?"
