Mac is a weird school. The only 5A NEISD school (the rest are 6A). It’s not particularly hood or low performing test score wise or anything like that. They just somehow lost a massive number of students in recent years, more than neighboring schools. They used to be solid in football too but they have like 9 total wins over the last 8 seasons or so.

This ^ These are the same out of touch, overly compensated, good ole boys who are using GenAI as an excuse to RIF/offshore FTE, cut benefits, steal your data, heavy hand RTO to sweatshop offices, lobby reduced regulation for shit like asbestos, and beat the tech workforce into submission. This dude in particular was seemingly a professional snake oil salesman with a list of shattered startups trailing him and a few anecdotal comments saying he’s an ass to work for. He’s the poster child for rich egomaniacs who are completely out of touch with the world 99% live in and are currently riding the oligarchy wave of ‘fuck you, I’m rich and I’m right and I’m untouchable…do as I say or spend six months looking for a job’ enabled by our current Pay To Play government…see Bezos, Musk, Zuck during the inauguration. Same reason diversity initiatives vanished. I just wish it’d been that smarmy fuck Jamie Dimon who’d been busted.

explosion at L.A. Sheriff's facility. At least 3 cops dead
BabaYaga replied to Gil Bang's topic in Daily Texan
It depends. If they "can" blow in place, they often will, but that's not a given. Especially if it's a part of an investigation. Components of the explosive, compounds, etc. Certain compounds are extremely hard to procure. Are the military-grade? Are certain types of explosives missing? Etc. In this case, it was powerful enough to kill three people. Was it an IED? If it was LEO training - they'd be using det cord and/or door breaching charges. And if this is the case, why was the plastique and the blasting caps in close proximity to each other??? -

Ordinance. Always the dumbest people on the aircraft carrier. -
I knew it was gonna be a Q episode as soon as I saw the person's outline outside the window of Spock's room.

The NYT Daily podcast earlier this week had a good deep dive on this issue explaining who would see the most significant impact and how.

I'm about 20 minutes into the Rogan/Talarico interview. Impossible not to like Talarico. Question: I'm also about 20 minutes into the first Rogan interview I've ever listened to, and I have to admit that while he doesn't commit any cardinal errors, I'm pretty much surprised by his interviewing technique. I was expecting something in between a Marc Maron let's be buddies and a Peter Attia I'm smarter than you approach. He's kind of sounds like a UNT radio and television communications intern. What is the superpower that got him to having the biggest podcast that anyone's every heard of?

Texas Recruiting Notes 2026: Boulevard of Broken Bagmen
closetojumping replied to texifornia's topic in 🤫$9.95🤫
Fade route is a low percentage play that ignores the "data" that guys like Sarkisian fall back on to justify idiotic decisions in games like taking points off the board to go for it, etc. The fade is nothing but a shitty vanity play for OCs and their hot shot QBs. Sarkisian will likely call it 50 times this year, score on 5 of them, and then be throwing inside the red zone in a tight game in the playoffs as everyone pulls their hair out. It should go the way of the wishbone and the wing-T. -
Should be a fun day/weekend for the Astronomer Board of Directors. They seem pissed…

Point taken. Just meant it’s not necessarily a valid comparison between the average and Arch Manning and a first-round caliber receiver. Who cares if the average combination can only convert x play successfully y% of the time when you have Arch Manning and a receiver he trusts who have been working on the route all offseason? -
Day recruits like Tom Herman?

I think it’s pretty bold to lump Deandre Moore in with guys like Harrison, Wayne, or Calvin Johnson -
I also would love a 4 day work week of 10 per day. 3 day weekends every single week would be game changer. I work from home full time so the extra few hours a day are no biggie. Doubt that ever catches on here in the U.S as a norm. I do know some school districts went to a 4-day school week and many parents upset because now they have to find child care for that 5th day. If I'm a teacher, I tell them tough shit, my job isn't to babysit your kids.

No matter whether you have the board in your back pocket, it shows extremely poor judgment to attended a Coldplay concert. Warren Buffet probably gave a TED talk about firing any executives who you think might attend a Coldplay concert.

We're getting older, so let's reach some conclusions about gin
Sawbonz replied to tantric superman's topic in Food and Travel
A wise old soul on the yard crew I worked one summer in HS had this to say about gin: “it’ll get your dick hard” also told us about the man in the boat and how to find it Also lost his whole paycheck one Friday rolling bones in the shop after work. So maybe not too wise -
Please explain how this would work.

I don’t think this argument applies, unless you’re speaking generally. When you have a QB like Arch Manning and receivers like DeAndre Moore, averages aren’t always relevant. I would bet fades are relatively low-success in the NFL, too, but certain combinations—for obvious reasons Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison or Reggie Wayne comes to mind—can make a play work more often than mediocre players. (Of course the QB and receiver have to “like” the play in the first place, but I think I’m getting the point across.) -
