I would say skill set is pretty close to skills comp. But it really doesn't matter, I'm not a coach, and I sure as hell haven't watched his games, so maybe they are close, I dunno. All I care about is he's in our class.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2026: Boulevard of Broken Bagmen

I know many, having lived in the Atlanta region since 1984. When I moved here, they were coming off their Herschel high. Then a very long stretch of meh set in, and Saban pretty much broke their will. So in my time here, it's only since they finally escaped Bama's stranglehold that they've become very cocky. Before then, they were basically Auburn. The fact they had a fairly flawed team in 2024 and yet still beat us twice has them thinking we're not too special. And based on how we played against them, that's not an unreasonable conclusion. On their way to a title, they also somewhat recently destroyed a TCU team that spanked us. So UGA fans really do think they're much better at player development than we are, and they're convinced Texas is only returning to relevance because of money. Any other possibility would wreck their worldview. I don't think they ever even wonder if they rebuilt their own program illegally. As a group, they really aren't deep thinkers about such things. -

Great episode. I think 3 good ones a season is the new norm.
-
His father said they (Texas) talked about his skill set AND compared his build to Robinson, so a body comparison, not skills comp.
-
well that and the fact Jack was hitting close to 2 clubs less that almost everyone else on tour for about 6 years. but yeah to your point, he had great hands as well. it wasnt all about power. you got 2 minutes Scottie better get to work.

Is she going to pretend that WNBA salaries haven't increased since 1997? A quick google search shows that the average salary has increased from $28K in the first year to $125K in 2025, so I'm not sure what her point is with that comment. Another interesting data point is that google tells me the NBA first turned a profit in 1971. In 1970 the average NBA salary (35K) was 4X the average salary for the US worker. In 2025 the average WNBA salary is $125K which is about 2X the average US salary. BUT the men were playing 82 games a season and the women are only playing half of that. those extra 40+ games translates into more revenue. Its likely they are gonna have to up the workload. I don't know if that is a sticking point for them or not. Do the networks want 2X the inventory? Everyone knows the women are going to get a raise with the next CBA agreement, the only question is how much. The shirts are simply a ploy to get attention and try and win the public favor on their side. Because we all know a raise is coming, and nobody has any clue about the league financials( how much is lost, if any, AND who is actually losing the money) its near impossible to know if the players are too far out over their skis in negotiations. As far as I can tell neither side has leaked specific data points, only that they aren't close. I'm in it for the trainwreck at this point, so I can only hope they have a walkout, just for the lulz. But eventually all the leverage is with the owners(it always is), so a deal will get done before the players starve to death.

Fleshing out the point for clarity: For various reasons the Federal government wanted to build bases in the south. Politicians wanted to name those southern bases after confederates to garner support from southern people, who had been lied to systematically about the past. Part of the “lost cause” myth involved rehabbing some pretty terrible officers like Bragg and Hood (who were reviled in their own time and survived the war to die in or near poverty) into heroes. So, when the politicians told the war department and the army to name bases after traitors, the army gave them bases named after the men whose mistakes and failures were key moments in losing the war. Good bull. -
I'm a little skeptical of the same skill set as Bijan, but whatever gets this kid to campus.

When the army does it, it’s irony. When the local school board does it, it’s ignorance. -

Multiple can be true at the same time. It’s widely understood why they named the bases after confederate generals. But naming them after two southern generals who were both famous and had been reconned by tradition into something other than the failures both on and off the battlefield they weee understood to be in their own lives is exactly the kind of ironic genius that institutional bureaucracy produces when politicians force it to something repellent and contrary to its mission. Are you honestly saying that naming bases after John Bell Hood and Braxton fucking Bragg were good faith attempts to honor the gallant conduct of the confederate forces? Come on man. That’s Lost Cause bullshit. -

Not really. The questions were from the media. He just refused to get defensive to the media in front of the high school coaches. I don't have access to any personal conversations with coaches. -
So he’s had his ass handed to him 40 times? No wonder he’s such a bitter little wanker.

You're too biased. We're talking power and ego. For those two people politics takes a back seat. You can't see it, but I'm not suprised.
