Texas Football 2025 Fall Camp - Kicking the Sonofabitch In
Fondren & Main replied to closetojumping's topic in Football
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Akina pretty heavily involved with our punt blocking during his time here with Mack? I remember we would constantly go back and forth for the lead in punt blocks with Va Tech and Beamer Ball. -
It is possible that a media source with an agenda remains factual. Who'da thunk it?

I think the idea is that this year we can send waves upon waves of fresh pass rushers. Bet the rotation is tighter in the big games. But there are a lot of options of getting to the QB, proven and unproven but with talent. We should get a lot of sacks and put a lot of pressure on QBs this year. -

I can’t be the only one that noticed that for the first year, maybe longer, that new Audi was open they had everything on their lot but Audi’s. The musical buildings the dealerships are playing on FW Hwy in Hudson Oaks is fascinating too.

I find that oakley lenses scratch way too easily. I switched to Costas and love the 580G lenses, but the rubber trim on the frames themselves starts to come off after a year or 2 Fantail, Fantail Pro and Corbinas all had the rubber come off

Paredes can play 2nd base. That isn't an issue.

I have nothing against Florida and like watching talented QBs who have the potential to be great. Sure seems like Lagway has it all except durability. His deep ball passes last year when healthy were absolute dimes.

Yup, but 8/8 is the date when the average high starts to drop which is always something to look forward to, but right now I'm not bothered by summer. We'll see if I feel that way on 8/30.

That's my first instinct. I think they're monkeying with a few veteran player's positions to see what kind of looks they can put together. They already know their base positions well enough to be able to rep someplace else and not get over-extended. -
Thanks for the feedback. I’m a big believer that some pieces of wood come together better than others, and this bass is one of those. So I’m not super concerned about cost, but I will happily keep it as is, instead of buying a new neck, if this turns out to be some quixotic project.

Having traveled around Europe for the last month, I have to observe that Israel really has no international sympathy at this point. They had everyone's support after October 7. Now, they have none. It's far worse than how the United States frittered away the international support we had afer September 11, which is really kind of hard to imagine. As an aside, it's kind of weird how the only foreign-language television programs most international hotels show are news channels. But there you have it. So as an English-speaker in a European hotel, your television options are typically limited to BBC, CNN International, and Sky News. Fortunately, I speak German. So I could watch ARD and ZDF. I also understand enough French that I could watch France24. And let me tell you--every one of those news stations are wall-to-wall coverage of the genocide in Gaza. And that's how they' style it: "genocide." And the video--and there's a lot of video of starving children and Isreali-blocked food aid--support that characterization. Bevo and Magic can bloviate all they want here on a college-football message board. It doesn't matter. Israel has turned itself into an international outcast. And the diplomatic consequences are starting to be felt. France and the UK will recognize Palestinian soveignty. Those are the two big European players in the diplomatic sphere. And that's the first step; it won't be the last. International pressure akin to what South Africa experienced is coming. And as was the case with South Africa, the United States is going to be late to the party. But it'll eventually get on board. Israel is absolutely killing itself here.

I’m not saying that ”drown” in a post is like a bat signal for Nicole to show up, but…

Correa makes no sense except to fanboys like Schwab. He’s diminished, he’s expensive, has no place to play next year, he’s injury prone and he’s not left handed.

I wish I could help. I did fall asleep during a CT in the 1990s. My sinus surgeon said it was the best image he had ever seen due to the limited movement during the scan. I’m not sure if there is a limited image with a standup MRI, but it seems if you are paying for it then your physician should let you pick the MRI you want as long as it’s within your coverage and will do the job, diagnostically. Your doctor of course, wants to have you use the MRI that’s financially associated with his or her institution, but that doesn’t mean it’s the only choice available. I imagine it would be on you to look up which imaging services are covered by your insurance, and have your physician order it be done at the place of your choice. But keep in mind the purpose of an MRI is to give your physician the best idea of what is going on. When MDA was still looking for metastasized cancer in me, my physician specifically asked that I be scanned with the brand new Siemens MRI, which he said gave a better image then the slightly older MRIs that was the backbone of scanning at MDA. In my case, the scan was to find small cancers that chemo hadn’t killed, and so I had no problem with a longer wait until that particular machine was available. That is my long-winded way of saying that you need to pick the MRI alternative that gives you the best image. Period. So gummy up if you have to.

Currently making our way through Maine. Couple of days in Portland. Heading to Bangor today for a show, then driving down to Acadia for a couple of days. It’s been unseasonably hot, finally cooling off a bit today. Yesterday, we went out to the Two Lights area and hiked around. Took a boat out in the morning looking for whales. Didn’t see any, but did come across a school of stripers hammering pogies….killed me not to have a rod. Got a great view of the lighthouse, though. And, will update more on the entertaining part of the evening…had dinner at the bar at Blythe and Burrows. The attractive curvy brunette next to my wife struck up a convo, and they became fast friends. Like…even a bit handsy. Wanted to connect on Instagram, we did so. As we left, I told my wife that I thought there was an 80% chance she was trying to pick her/us up. Got back to the hotel, sleuthed on her a bit, found out more about her. Revised my assessment: it was a 100% chance she was trying to pick her up. Nice.
