  1. Past hour
  2. He changes his mind all the time. Still waiting for that Star Trek movie for instance. I think he’ll still stick to his retirement plan though. One of his few consistencies.
  3. I actually think if one of the two late picks hit-- Miami will get re-graded and had the best draft of 2025! Kenneth Grant will be great. I like Jason Marshall Jr. and Ollie Gordon II and Quinn at the back end of the draft have higher upsides than anyone taken that late (or in the middle rounds IMO).
  4. Cinnamon in the chili doesn't bother me. In fact, a good pot of ol' Texas Red is made better with the addition of some good cinnamon flavored Mexican chocolate. The problem with Cincinnati chili is serving it over spaghetti with a pile of unmelted cheese on top. It's just plain worse than regular spaghetti and meat/tomato sauce.
  5. Is that a second time? IIRC UH threatened to sue her.
  6. I started a separate thread for the Kentucky game so as not to clutter this one. (I know, not the Surly way.)
  7. shocker. History is going to look back on this as a horrifying ethnic cleansing genocide and America just sat there and watched.
  8. Tech has gobs of money as well, and it's not going to run out of money any time soon. Cody Campbell et all aren't dumb, they know the spending will have to continue ad infinitum, it's not about blowing a bunch of money on one single football season, they'll have to keep doing this year after year and the results fans want probably won't come as quickly as they want. And yeah, we're pretty much trying to follow Texas' model. It's a good model. The product on the field is proof of that, and it took some time for Texas as well. Either way it'll be a much more interesting ride than it was before.
  9. Starting a thread for game in Lexington October 18th. A few of us mentioned going on the main Surly Tailgate thread. Assuming there is no official Surly tailgate, we may do something smallish if enough people are interested. Still working through logistics. FYI - UK made the Texas game Parents' Weekend and Homecoming. I guess because it overlaps with the horse races. Hotels are in short supply. Fun things to do Friday or Saturday before game: Keeneland Fall Meet - https://www.keeneland.com/ Beautiful horse race track that the locals really get into. Great tailgating outside the track. You'll probably find more students here than a UK football game. The races sell out. Tickets go on sale August 19. Kentucky Bourbon Trail - https://kybourbontrail.com/ Enough said. Visit a Horse Farm - https://www.visitlex.com/listing/gainesway-farm/7896/ https://www.visitlex.com/listing/visit-horse-country/7324/ There are several to choose from, but not all are open to the public. Link is to Gainsway which is spectacular. If nothing else, drive through horse country. If you're flying into SDF (Louisville) exit onto Old Frankfort Pike Road from I64. Horse Auctions - https://www.fasigtipton.com/locations/kentucky If you are around on Monday after the game, the Fasig-Tipton Sales start. Always fun to watch someone spend $1M on a one year old horse. If you are flying into Louisville (Southwest added non-stop flights from AUS) visit Muhammad Ali or Louisville Slugger museums. Numerous breweries, golf courses, and hiking trails if that's your thing.
  10. Look, I am no ardent Chuy's defender, but there are over 100 locations in 15 states. Some of them new. I ate at the brand new location in Austin near South Congress/IH35 a couple of weeks ago. Bright and shiny with outstanding service, albeit nothing spectacular on the menu.
  11. Go take a shower now.
  12. - [Sam Wallace]: Manchester United have told Alejandro Garnacho that Chelsea will have to meet their £50m valuation if he is to leave Old Trafford for west London. - Craig Hope: Chelsea would deal with Newcastle on Jackson for £60m, but a deal will only be pursued if Newcastle cannot land their other options. - Bobby Vincent: 🤕 Benoit Badiashile has been doing individual work at Cobham this week as he steps up recovery from injury. 24yo left Bank of America Stadium on crutches after win vs Benfica in June and is targeting early September return.
  13. I mean, we probably all have a Baby A's story which is best forgotten to time.
  14. Because of the implication
  15. I think you may have stumbled upon a genius new branding and marketing campaign for Chuy's.
  16. '23 BIG 12 CHAMPIONS 🤘 Week Before in Austin 🤘
  17. Damn....now you're making me all nostalgic.
  18. Agreed. Still want them to be good enough to beat aggy, though.
  19. Whether it is true or not, some folks I know who've seen Clark at practice seem to think he looks good and healthy. Achilles injuries, similar to but not on the same scale as UCL injuries, are becoming more common. I think the NBA saw more this year than something like the last 5 seasons combined or something. As those injuries become more frequent, repair approaches should improve recovery as well. What I'd like to understand is how both types of injures can also be better prevented.
  20. That's how I feel about the F50 and Enzo. But I love me some F40.
  21. Less about the food (which, to be clear, is a factor of it being crappy. But like Brisket said they have some things that are edible/good). More about the lack of maintenance and investment into the brand and restaurants. It's working class families and people who want a break from their usual breastraunt in a very dingy, dirty, old dining area. The kitsch and decor is falling apart where it's not rusted and dusty. Everything is chipped and in need of fresh paint. The tiles are cracked and the tables wobble. The whole place (not just the bar) smells like stale Natural Light that spilled on the floors and were never mopped up. That's what I mean about it becoming the new Baby A's. A one-time restaurant turned dingy flophouse where the darker, more troubled souls go to drink industrial grade booze to kill the feelings they have.
  22. Always hard to use average recoveries with individuals. There will always be good and bad exceptions. All we know is he has moved up the depth chart and according to recent reports getting carries ahead of Gibson. I had written him off as an early contributor, but this seems be a positive data point that indicates his recovery is coming along much faster than most expected.
