Colorado Vacation Destinations - Not Quite So Crowded, But Still Cool
LCHorn replied to Dbeasy's topic in Food and Travel
So we’ve hit all of this in week one (besides fly fishing, they wanted $1k for half a day and I don’t think we have sufficient interest to justify that expense). Major Dad fail on the whitewater park-I didn’t do a good safety brief on where to exit and the kids ended up going through the wake boarding section. The 8 year old was fine but the 6 year old was terrified. Lots of great coffee options here and Silver Whisker Bakery is A+. We also had fun at the farmer’s market and Salida Art Festival. Next door in Buena Vista is Simple Eatery, which I really enjoyed as a dining out option that has healthy meals. That whole main street area has a pretty different feel from Salida, considering how close they are. -

The decommit news, but yeah. -
It's Helobious, his takes are frequently uniquely wrong and bad.

Anyway I'm good with trailers. I like to know what's coming and I like to see the previews in full sound and glory on the big screen. I don't like pre-movie commercials, straight up product advertisements. And none of the Alamo Drafthouse locations I've ever been to, have shown those (aside from promoting their own theaters/merch that is).

I'm sorry but what the fuck does this even mean? I'm not necessarily disagreeing with the bulk of your post there, but this literally made me laugh out loud.

Im just talking about twitter, not google.

Actually I guess there is an aggy 2027 thread where Lamons should go. -

-
I only heard about it because I was listening to The Meidas Touch podcast.

The appropriate answer is often "which one?"

Yeah I realized that big difference after I hit post. Normal negotiating window. guess I was trying to say the owners have their own “pay us what you owe us” sentiment with media rights.

I've watched that dude drop $500 at happy hour on a stripper who was never, ever going home with him. Sad and pathetic. Like, even more sad and pathetic than MIA.

RIP, MJW. I also enjoyed your brief appearance in the OJ movie on Netflix as Al Cowlings.

I really like Talarico, but in all honesty, the way he argues is just the other side of the theocratic coin. There are plenty of good reasons for social programs that feed, house, educate, and provide healthcare to all people in our country. On a surface level, it may look like a good idea to reference the teachings of Christ to support these programs as there is a lot of overlap. I fully believe that our response to God's grace and the sacrifice and teachings of Jesus should be to care for others in all of those ways. But that should be a personal response and call to action. It should be a communal response among congregations of believers. The teachings of Christ should never be leveraged into a response that compels compliance from non-believers or those who otherwise disagree with the response - "I believe so strongly in this teaching of Jesus that I am going to vote for a government program to take money out of your pocket against your will to implement that teaching." Talarico likes to frame political arguments in such a way that is accusatory against Christians who disagree with him politically - "It is not Christian to vote against X program." I just don't think that is helpful. IMO... it would be far more effective to argue the societal benefits of a program rather than tagging on some guilt-laden religious justification. Give the cost-benefit argument and then if you want, personalize it by saying that it happens to align with your own interpretation of how Jesus would respond to the issue.

H/t Arthur Koestler. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darkness_at_Noon In retrospect, I realize that this was a part of my anti-Communist high school education. However, not so "right" that it was actually very far off.
