  1. Past hour
  2. Gein is a strange one. he is of course a serial killer by definition but most of the story is about the stuff he did before he started killing which isn't like Dahmer, Kemper, Green River, Bundy, etc. He's a weird case and I can see how it could be viewed as boring.
  3. A dozen senators could even reopen the government. But it's the Democrats' fault.
  4. One could argue, and I think will argue in the future, that the internet and social media have had a similar effect as several of the things you mentioned. Truth is we don’t know how this period of history is going to end, but the parallels are disturbing so far.
  5. Tan suit. Never forget.
  6. All everyone wants to talk about is how shit sucks, no one fucking shows up to any god damned events, no one wants to do shit anymore. Like what the fuck? Have some god damned fun - the fun part of this week is that it's fucking HATE WEEK.
  7. This is just so crazy scary. And they said he was from Florida…I wonder if he set any other fires before this one? I wouldn’t be surprised if he had. he needs to be charged with 12 murders. And have his sentences run consecutively.
  8. Bruce Pearl is not the only one exercising his first amendment rights. His ass is being roasted on black social media. He has made his son’s job much more challenging.
  9. No, no, it's because he wasn't "grateful" enough! To the country that so generously allowed him to be in that position! Not racist at all.....
  10. I think this is true. I would say "hope" it's true, but don't mean to imply that I hope that ICE and federalized national guard start will employ greater violence against nonviolent protestors. I'm reminded of a book I just read, King: A Life, a Pulitzer Prize-winning biography on MLK. It's fascinating in so many ways, even after I've watched numerous documentaries about King and the Civil Rights movement over my life. You talk about a guy with an unwavering commitment to nonviolence, even when violence against the Black community had escalated, and when others in the movement had pleaded for King to start physically fighting back. But one thing Brisket's comment reminded me of was how the video footage of Southern law enforcement, unprovoked and without mercy, physically beat protestors -- men and women, and eventually children when they started joining the protests -- that started changing the attitudes of those viewing audiences outside of the South, including JFK himself and his administration. It was the proliferation of TV sets in most American households by the 1960s, which showed more and more of the senseless beatings, fire hosings, and dog attacks against peaceful protestors, that really gave the Civil Rights movement significant momentum. Maybe Trump's invasion of the blue cities will lead to something similar. Though I'm sure plenty on the right won't see a comparison, and will chalk it up to a bunch of loser instigators in Chicago and Portland with nothing better to do, as opposed to Black's pushing for an end to segregation and the right to vote. Those folks will cheer on the pepper balls, or worse. But maybe it will start to change the minds of some folks. Not entirely on Trump, because that toothpaste has left the station. But maybe some of the more "reasonable" Republicans and right-leaning voters will push back on his overreach of executive force and power that they have let go unchecked so far. Maybe.
  11. You'll get Jose Lima and like it.
  12. Only one more season of JP3 then Correa moves back to SS, I guess.
  13. Just picked up two tickets to NIN in San Francisco. They're not coming to Portland on this tour so I'll go to them. I'm looking forward for my travel concert plans. 10/31: Viagra Boys, Stereolab, Black Lips @ Far Out ATX (My buddy and I got our shrimp costumes already lol) 11/1: DEVO & B52's ATX - DEVO gear is happening of course 11/11: Tame Impala - Forum in LA (fly in fly out) 3/15: NIN - San Francisco (fly in fly out)
  14. It's hard to compare the US and Nazi Germany, because the circumstances that allowed the Nazis to achieve power were very different than today in our country. The Germans were living in a time of unparalleled poverty, collapse of institutions, threats to the government by Communist elements and the humiliation imposed by the Allied powers. We are a very different story with a much more diverse mindset and our economy is strong. While Trump and his minions continue to subvert the law to achieve their goals, it is hard to imagine anything similar to the Nazis occurring in the country unless we suffer from some catastrophic event, like a disastrous war with China or a cataclysmic terrorist attack.
  15. I was thinking there needs to be a sentiment index on the site. It is so negative, I am thinking of betting on Texas
  16. Politicians doing something good for their constituents and their country? I wouldn’t hold your breath on that. They are fucking cowards, all of them.
  17. James Simon not getting touches is CRIMINAL
  18. Ok, but I disagree with what you asserted, and part of why we know that is that we’ve all seen interviews with male politicians go viral when they melt down that way.
  19. "Obama being black" isn't a dumbass reason. I mean, it's a shitty, evil, racist reason. But....it's a reason. Wait...it's also a dumbass reason. My bad.
  20. Dated myself with the French "fire" songs. So, zder, from what I can gather, is slang for a joint (likely for hash). In French, thé, means tea. "A joint, a tea", that's the song title. Just watched it, and the lyrics are basically just about being tired, going home, and getting stoned to relax and help go to sleep. Edit: I'm in no way trying to downplay what the motherfucker did, but tying this to a French rap song sounds akin to all the Satanic panic stuff from the wayback and the dangers of heavy metal.
  21. The fascists have no interest in passing ANY meaningful immigration reform. Solving a problem (that isn't that much of a problem, empirically) that is the key to them taking and holding power, and keeping the American people inflamed? It would be political suicide. Can you imagine an America with a rational and balanced immigration policy? What the fuck would the fascists run on?
  22. That post will def get the oline going!
  23. For now
