  1. Past hour
  2. Beck’s AI George Washington, lulz
  3. “Americans must learn to adjust to a lower standard of living.” Did Trump really say this at that rally last night? https://www.salon.com/2025/12/10/trumps-return-to-maga-rallies-is-a-flop/
  4. This is your party man.
  5. It's kind of interesting how the daughters of pro athletes are achieving prominence along with their post-career Dads. I suppose this is a naturally occurring phenomenon, but it seems more prominent in volleyball than WBB, for instance. Or softball. Or is it that I just don't pay quite as much attention?
  6. Rice should try this....
  7. trending up or down, it's still too high for what the fed says they want, that's just not debatable. the other fact is that price increases are cumulative as we all know, after 2+ years of historically high inflation (not runaway inflation mind you) it's going to take several years of sub three percent inflation for consumers to be able to truly adjust. add higher interest rates for credit cards, cars, impact of locked in low or higher new mortgages and other cost increases and it's obvious consumers/families are still feeling the pain.
  8. Today's quarter point cut won't matter. The market catalyst will be the dot plot and Powell's speech and QA session starting at 1:30p. We should trend hawkish over the next few months but we'll see how much collective spine these people have.
  9. First CD was Oasis (What's The Story) Morning Glory. I was 7 years old, liked Wonderwall on the radio, and demanded my parents buy it I think my first cassette I think was Matchbox 20 Yourself or Someone Like You. Again, I was 7, so cut me some slack. Not sure why I insisted on a CD for Oasis and a cassette for this one First LP was much later in life. Pet Sounds for about $5 at half price books in Dallas Can't be 100% sure on first download, but probably Horse With No Name by Neil Young, Walkin in Memphis by Bruce Springsteen, or Mrs. Robinson by The Beatles.
  10. I thought he was happy with UT per reports. Saw him play against aggy too. I'm guessing this is bullshit from Georgia $9.95'ers wishcasting like we did for years with Evan Stewart.
  11. So a guy from Georgia, who at one time was committed to Georgia, and who had Georgia as his #2 choice when he signed with Texas - if he enters the portal, he would probably go to Georgia. Got it.
  12. Atmospheric river originating in the Philippines has been hitting western Washington all week; nearly all rivers on this side of the state will reach all-time record flood stages this evening. Six million people are under flood watches or warnings (fortunately we have a LOT of hills, but the valleys are getting hammered).
  13. Yeah, so even though being actual Christians probably doesn't hold much appeal to high school teens, and politics certainly doesn't, these kinds of organizations can attract members by other means, basically "cool kids" or "hot chicks" or just "joiners." Of course, in our time, there weren't these social media incels, either. Then again, how many of them really join anything, except social media mobs?
  14. Not sure amounts of money they spend doesn’t mean they aren’t poorly run as well.
  15. The biggest lie from CFP is "twelve best" teams. The truth is, ten of the 15 or 20 highest voted beauties and two participation ribbon winners. ND was one of the 15 or 20, but not one of the 10. Too bad. So was Texas. We coulda played each other in the Biggest Toilet Bowl, but noooooo. I think ND is afraid of how they'd look with a big L, but I'm not too sure we could beat them... but we'll never know.
  16. There are plenty of running away and non-compliance videos re: ICE raids and arrests. Why aren't you seeing them?
  17. Marcus featured Texas VB at the end of First Take this morning
  18. his arm length / wingspan is off the charts isn't it? that's a measurable that can't be coached. beat me to it, I think his height, weight, basic measurables are drool worthy for GMs.
  19. Yep, and upstream someone referred to ground effect as bullshit ... but ground effect was re-introduced to allow for better following and overtaking, and did that very well until it was walked back because some teams couldn't get a grip on it. As a result, overtaking got harder again, and this year it was probably as difficult as ever. Now GE is being further reduced, and there will be no DRS, and a weak PU, but still heavier than necessary, of course. We'll see, I guess.
  20. Yeah, the notion that he could go in round 2 doesn't shock me. The guy is 6'6" with length and appears to dominate high-level competition at times. If he tests well, what's the knock on him?
  21. Comments suggest this On3 article is about Justus Terry.
  22. My experience was similar to yours. I didn't have much to do with it, but I was brought to FCA events by other guys from the football team. It seemed little different from the National Honor Society or any of the other silly clubs kids would join to pad college applications. I do remember a Young Life group forming in my last year or two of high school. A friend hosted one of their events at his house and asked me to attend. I found it weird, and with hindsight, it was definitely an early-stage, and perhaps prototypical, evangelical nutjob cult recruiting tool similar to TPUSA today. I didn't attend a second time. I was raised in the SBC, but in an era before they joined forces with the Christian right and became full-blown evangelicals. I was already used to fairly nutty religious behavior, but the Young Life thing creeped me out. Now it's just par for the course for the SBC.
  23. And, at this point, non-violent resistance is more effective. Killing cops, federal agents, and national guard members changes the national discussion away from the state-sponsored cruelty.
  24. These fucking morons don't even understand that our country wasn't founded with education in mind. Public education really took off in the mid 1800s, even it its roots went back to English Colonial America in MA.
  25. The last verse of this always hits me hard. I remember the lead up in 2003 to the iraq war and being very skeptical of W, cheney and colin powell. I’ve seen the white buffalo three times live. There is absolute silence in the crowd during this song.
