  1. Past hour
  2. Cope? NYC is its own animal. There is no other place like it in America. I like and support Mamdani, btw.
  3. Hell, most of the working class has totally given up on values, unless being an asshole is a value. They think they got hosed so now want to see others fucked over - the pain is the purpose.
  4. At a certain point why not just demolish and rebuild on the site?
  5. So at least two languages. How many more?
  6. As a coach, I would one hundred percent rather have my athletes playing a second sport. So much benefit to having most players doing that, more than you’ll likely get from the 18 practice spring ball schedule.
  7. Cope. I said he overperformed, not just that he won. We're talking about the working class, here.
  8. Complete gutting of the interior, new roof, etc. it would be near the end of the project as this is a 10-15 year project. The walkover of 37 would also be near the end. 1 Henry B Gonzales renovation improvemebt 2 Spurs arena 3 courthouse remodel 4/5 walkover/alamodome
  9. Chili's and/or Schlotzsky's are our go tos on roadtrips. Any decent sized town in Texas, NM, Colorado or OK have one or the other. Not too expensive and reliably decent food. Probably eaten at the Schlotzsky's in Sweetwater on the way to NM more than I've eaten at the ones in Austin.
  10. Get him a Surly account confined to the football board and cloakroom.
  11. Because he is in NYC. I agree that they share anger and the struggle, but I disagree that the working class share common experiences and values. This country is way too big, with completely different lifestyles and surroundings.
  12. Swindle/Gary(ds) Stafford/Spears Bunton/Ames Halter Binney is in a boot and scooter. Not good.
  13. I knew he was going to be a problem when they introduced him and said he had solved every murder he had been assigned. That's just not possible without some wrongful convictions.
  14. What fungus were you sucking on, exactly? Point to the spot on the picture.....
  15. Yeah and those charismatic people can sell propaganda a lot better than wonks. Bill Clinton is and was a huge wonk, but you'd never know it from his campaigns. Also, Dems have been trying to sell high-minded ideas for decades that in theory (and probably practical applications) would benefit the working class. For a variety of practical reasons, they never get any of it done (selling out to corporate interests + recalcitrant Congress, related issues) and are perceived as having bullshit the working class and utterly failed to deliver.
  16. I don't really care either way, my interest level in college sports is way way down. But someone posted this elsewhere, thought it was interesting. Full report https://t.co/WT1wVTCIgn
  17. The working class isn't a buzzword, though. It's a well defined group of voters. People who need to work for a living. It's true that they're not a monolith, but it's also true that they have common experiences and values. They don't listen to people with soft ideas. The way to reach them is by being bold, and saying you will change things. The reason they want change is because they are struggling. So in an election between "nothing will fundamentally change" and "I am your retribution" who do you think is going to do better? And why do you think Mamdani overperformed so much?
  18. Zero disagreement with that. But counterpoint: that's the world we live in, those are the rules of the new order. Play according to them, and turn them to your advantage, or LOSE. That's why I'm all in favor of simple language lies, on repeat. They work. Turn the firehose on, crank it up to 11, and win. Yeah....you're not really rebutting my thesis here. "we've seen multiple cycles of the pattern of all sizzle no steak... But people keep thinking uncritically and ignore that it's ONLY sizzle because mAnY pEoPlE aRe SaYiNg" EXACTLY. Understand that the vast majority of voters are utterly stupid and gullible and easily played. So...PLAY THEM. Offer them free candy bars and unicorn rides. Whatever bullshit it takes to WIN. The only rule of American politics, 2025: WIN. Subpart (a) of that rule? WIN. Subpart (g)(2)(iii)? Also WIN. Nothing else matters if you don't WIN.
  19. Sticks.
  20. And how and why did the SS detail let a flabby old man up to even do that?
  21. Yeah, I think we’re trying to hug it out but afraid of that initial embrace.
  22. Made the same $100 bet at Bellagio early June. Also wanted to bet the softball team to win the NC, but "we don't have a line on softball." Da fuk?
  23. If the rest of their season went the same way, sure. I’ll take that trophy.
  24. But Limas’ grandmother was Dutch.
