  4. That Circle K by Cracker Barrel tricked me the other day. Green neon sign said $2.79/gallon for regular, well, that's only for some wonky Fastpay shit. $2.89 for everyone else.
  5. Proposed Change: Cap on Deductions: The proposed change would limit the amount of gambling losses that can be deducted to 90% of a gambler's winnings. Impact: This means that even if a gambler wins and loses the exact same amount in a year, they would still have to pay taxes on 10% of their winnings, effectively creating "phantom income". Affects Itemizers: This change would primarily affect gamblers who itemize their deductions on Schedule A of their tax return. Current Rules (before the proposed changes): Deductible Up to Winnings: Currently, gamblers who itemize can deduct their losses up to the amount of their winnings, meaning they generally don't owe additional taxes if their losses equal or exceed their winnings. Requires Itemizing: To deduct losses, gamblers must itemize deductions on Schedule A and keep detailed records of their wins and losses. Why the Proposed Change Matters: Impact on Gamblers: Professional and high-volume gamblers, in particular, could face significantly higher tax bills under the proposed system. Potential for "Phantom Income": Even if a gambler's net income from gambling is zero or a loss, they could still face a tax liability. Industry Concern: This proposed change has raised concerns within the gaming industry, including worries about its impact on businesses and jobs.

  15. The primary payout by Texas A&M University in connection with the 1999 Aggie Bonfire collapse was $2.1 million, agreed upon in October 2008. Under that settlement: $500,000 was paid directly by the university (the maximum allowed under Texas tort law), The remaining $1.6 million came from insurance policies covering university administrators

  20. I love how this thread is all about pulling out stories about people in bad spots that shouldn’t be deported. I don’t remember any threads about years of unfettered immigration and the consequences like human trafficking or high speed chases etc. Or airports full of people being flown in our dime sleeping in gray sweats on the floors of our airports for YEARS. Higher housing costs. Higher healthcare costs. Higher auto insurance etc for everyone. Y'all aren’t serious. Ask almost anyone from the border or close to it what they think. It should be shut down. And we should be kicking people out. Some people that deserve to stay might have to leave. But there have been some citizens here hurt directly for no reason by open border bs. And there have been plenty of indirect effects to others. you’re mad that people who “should” get to stay are kicked out? Blame the ones that went balls to the wall and let anybody in.
  21. They laid off 6,000 in May and had another small round of layoffs in June, I doubt this next round will be the last.
