  2. HIV patients at my old clinic are routinely given thousands of dollars of medication at a time. The drug rep will give the clinic basically as many bottles as wanted/needed with very little oversight in how they are used (which isn't a bad thing in this instance, imo, since there really isn't a black market for HIV drugs). So like why does it otherwise cost so much? Insanity.
  3. the fuck is this. Both lineup and picture
  4. @hpslugga Terrific post. What's killing getting your points and those of other's here across is the binary thinking built into our mythology and outlook. It's good guy versus bad guy. The bad guy always ends up killed by the good guy. Once the bad guy (any terrorist no matter the cause) is established, we're not able to reassess without great turmoil thus the good guy gets to kill, maim, terrorize the bad guys with what amount to a mandate from heaven. Any detail I read about the Hamas attack of October completely mortifies me. Rape, mutilation, torture, gleefully applied torment at every opportunity. Bad men. And that's it. Any retaliation is justified against the bad men. Netanyahu has used the event cynically, and we do little to even slow him down because it's hard to get the American people to see Palestinians as anything other than targets for righteous vengeance. Our leaders cynically apply accusation of anti-semitism or terrorism to anyone voice an opinion that runs against the good guy grain. Israel is the fucking bad guy. So. Are. We. I know you know this.
  5. I think Bouwmeester is a huge pick up for Texas. Punting game was terrible last year. Texas finished 15th in Punt average with 40.78 (https://cfbstats.com/2024/leader/911/team/offense/split01/category06/sort01.html). Kern was 115th in the nation (https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/years/2024-punting.html). Georgia Game 1: Georgia: 4 punts 216 yards (54 per) vs 5 for 219 (43.8 per).. 10 yards a punt Texas lost. Game 2: Georgia: 4 for 214 (53.5) vs 2 for 78 (39). 23.5 yard difference and that does not factor in the fake punt lot of hidden yards in those games in special teams.

  10. From my dad today. Sherman Texas. First is his message to me. The second is the notification he received. She volunteered at the Adult Center up there and ran the book club. This woman was baby sitting and she died protecting the child. She was In her twenties. Two pitts. Really nice girl and in good shape. If they get you down it can bad fast. For those of you who may not have heard yet, our friend and book club facilitator Lindsay Stroup, from the Eisenhower Birthplace, has passed away as the result of a dog attack. As soon as I learn any details on funeral arrangements we will have something sent from the library and the book club. It is a terrible shock and we will miss her terribly.
  11. Played these MAGAts a harp from hell!
  12. That section about Cornerback reads like a Jay Valai masterclass. Year 4 and your best corner is a 5'9 kid you only took because his brother was already on the team.
  13. I agree with you, it's disgusting that this dude chose this method of getting attention, and a bunch of people working in an office building definitely don't deserve to have their lives put in danger or be killed over this. I'm just saying that maybe this kind of thing never happens if we A) have adequate mental health care in this country and B) don't let powerful orgs like the NFL use their muscle to suppress widespread knowledge of the negative affects of their sport. There have been numerous studies that show an alarming number of football players even just among HS/college ranks that end up with CTE or similar trauma and the suppressive methods of the NFL trickle down through all levels of the sport. It's only going to get worse now that life changing money can be made without "going pro".

  16. It's the covid stimulus free money all over again, except without the student loan deferment (unfortunately).
  17. He is the most arrogantly ignorant US Senator when Tuberville is not in the room. Make him go to school. Even Oklahoma.
  18. Position battle breakdown. A little whistling past the graveyard going on with this one.
  19. Surly encourages bad behavior.
  20. There's Something About Mary, Kingpin and the Austin Powers movies in the 90's. Let's be honest here. I loved Adam Sandler on SNL. He was one of my favorites for the group immediately following what was (for me anyways) the greatest SNL group of all time (Hartman, Lovitz, Carvey, Miller, Nealon, Hooks, etc). I think the writing was better and the show had really found its legs. (But, yes, it's hard to argue they were better than Chevy, Murray, Belushi, etc.) Mike Myers came in and then Sandler/Spade and that led into Will Ferrell and so on. Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore were awesome for somebody who was in college at the time like I was. But we're not exactly talking about comedies that transcend comedy. Neither belongs on a list of all-time great comedy movies but they were right place, right time for a big chunk of us who were in Sandler's wheelhouse demographic when they came out. I doubt there aren't many people born outside say 1968-1978 who are remotely familiar with "Like I got no fucking fingers" or "You button-hooked me" or "Tollbooth Willy" or "At A Medium Pace" or any of the other stuff from Sandman's first comedy album. I just don't know if HG or Billy Madison stand the test of time. They're great for that group of us who loved them when we were 20 or so. For me, Happy Gilmore was an enjoyable, somewhat nostalgic two hours. It doesn't mean it was a very good movie.
  21. The anti trans movement has spearheaded bullshit mumbo jumbo medical research studies. Aryan’s portrayal of the bullshit Cass Review was a harbinger. RFK is now full steam shoving bogus science down citizen throats to discredit vaccines. Expect similar anti-science efforts for the most common, and therefore expensive to insurance companies, medical treatments.
