A (literally) big recruit was here last weekend. The WBB team had a front row view of Moody getting WILD for volleyball

Yeah, machete dude was a one-off nutbar. And from the people I know who use the trails regularly, they are no more or less "safe" than they were some years ago. Running around in poorly lit areas with lots of places people can hide makes people nervous, and rightly so. But the number of crimes committed on the trail hasn't materially changed, from what I understand.

Jesus Christ himself could be reincarnated to run against the GQP in texas and get his ass kicked by 10%. I honestly don't think it matters who the Dems run, as nobody on a democratic ticket can do anything to win it. The only path forward will be the GQP actively and enthusiastically fucking over Texans so badly that they lose the votes. And things will have to get a hell of a lot worse, and probably for another 20 years, before thats a reality. Its been since the early 90's that Texas dems have won a statewide election of significance, and Richards wouldn't have won that without ole Claytie shoving his foot up his own ass with that "lay back and enjoy it" comment. And things are now so much worse. William's comments today would probably be good for a 10% boost.

2026 World Cup in North America: Step 1 - the host cities
Napoleon replied to Jive Turkey's topic in Futbol
Brazil got “CONCACAF-ed” in La Paz last night. Brazil chief: 'We played against referees and police' vs. Bolivia Adriana Garcia Sep 10, 2025, 11:17 AM Brazil's Football Federation president Samir Xaud spoke of the adversities his national team encountered in their 1-0 defeat against Bolivia in Tuesday's World Cup qualifier, stating "we played against the referees, the police and the ball boys." The five-time World Cup winners, who had already secured a spot in next year's tournament, lost their first game under coach Carlo Ancelotti at El Alto. Miguel Terceros converted a penalty in the first-half of stoppage time after VAR review, a result that allowed Bolivia to advance to the playoff tournament for the 2026 World Cup in the final round of qualifying. "We came to play soccer, and what we saw from the moment we arrived was a completely anti-game," Xaud said. Ancelotti was unimpressed by the officiating and was captured on camera having words with the referees as they entered the tunnel at the interval. Xaud and Ancelotti both criticised the ball boys after the game and accused them of wasting time. Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti was not happy with the refereeing as his side fell 1-0 to Bolivia. Buda Mendes/Getty Images Balls were thrown onto the pitch in the last stages of the game to disrupt Brazil's attacks. "Officials have to control that," Ancelotti said. "Not players, coaches, or the president." Xaud added: "Even at this altitude of 4,000 meters, we played against the referees, the police, and the ball boys, who were taking the balls off the field and putting them on the field. It was a real mess. This isn't what we expect for world football or South American football. What we want is to grow even further. "This kind of attitude, especially when playing at altitude, is difficult. I hope CONMEBOL takes action, precisely because we have everything recorded. This can't happen; it's absurd." Xaud was also "outraged" by how local police treated their delegation since their arrival in Bolivia but offered no details. "The police were horrible against the entire team, the entire coaching staff," he said. "It's something we don't expect. We welcome all the teams very warmly, we embrace them. We put everything at their disposal, and when we play outside of Brazil, especially here, the reception we receive here is absurd. I'm outraged." Brazil ended the campaign fifth in the standings, with 28 points, their worst finish in their World Cup qualifying history. Against Bolivia, Ancelotti, who took charge of the national team in May following the sacking of Dorival Junior, made numerous changes to the side that beat Chile 3-0 last week. Despite the loss, Ancelotti preferred to focus on the positives. "That [World Cup] is the goal," Ancelotti said. "I think we'll do well in the World Cup… 👇 Full Story https://www.espn.co.uk/football/story/_/id/46213750/brazil-chief-played-referees-police-vs-bolivia -
It’s deliberate a deliberate gray zone probing action, designed entirely to see how NATO and the president will respond. Early returns— weakly. Let’s see the outcome of the Article 4 mechanism (which is a fairly big deal to invoke) and what kind of unity emerges. Either way, some other type of escalation from Russia is likely.

I think it was tongue in cheek, but that was mentioned today by Neuheisel. Stockton has only attempted 4 passes that were longer than 10 yards. If Tennessee can't beat this Georgia team, they never will.

Holy shit you got 19 negs for being normal

waaaaaaaaaay to many POC and queer birds on that stage to take texas back from the reds flocking from out of state. native texans probably say sure but that's not the electorate anymore. ain't happening.

meh, they would fail again, only this time the other half would gladly let them go and watch them become the next East Germany.

Bryan Abreu has entered a game in the 9th inning 14 times this season - this was the 5th time he's allowed multiple runs in those games. He's entered a game in the 7th or 8th inning 50 times this season - he's allowed multiple runs in those games just 1 time. #Astros

let's face it, the only ace card the dems can truly play is a celebrity to combat the reality TV mush for brains in the electorate. mcconaughey is probably it for the texas dems if he were to ever want it. other than that, yeah no there is no great dem candidate or strategy. there just isn't.

I see the usual suspects are once again acting like downtown Austin is Kabul. I live in Houston and I bet I visit downtown Austin more often than that crowd.

Agree that the public doesn’t need to be informed to everything… but I do think they investigate these things and the ones there is no logical explanation for could go into a category of NHI. I’m not really trying to go down that rabbit hole right now though. Just wanted discussion on a pretty interesting video. -

Of course. But that's not what Slorch said. He said, and I quote "in the REAL WORLD degrees doesn't make a fuck." The quote is direct, the emphasis is mine. Of course fields matter. And in theory, sure, once you're some amount of time out of college and several jobs into your life and career, no one probably gives a fuck where you went to college. But to sit there and say my degree didn't "make a fuck" in regards to my life and career is fucking stupid, and wrong. I illustrated exactly why it's wrong. And I'm not the only person. Maybe the real fucking lesson here is that slorch should learn to stop speaking in fucking absolutes, and maybe he won't end up posting back to back shit like "I don't remember where anyone ever went to school" and "I almost always remember where people went to school" in back to back posts. Guy has to be the worst, most ineffectual Sith of all time.

Why is the younger generation so intolerant?

From looking at the syllabus for the summer the lecturer did not stray away from the course description either. She did a graduate minor in gender studies and specialized in children's studies. This is a 300 level class where she been teaching it since 2018. The lecturer had good ratings for this class on ratemyprofessor. This whole thing should never happened and the student should have dropped the class instead of going on a witch hunt. This is why a lot of people are not wanting to work in this state and a good chunk of faculty want to leave the state too for higher education. -

Well... This maybe the most accurate thread on Surly. There is not a god damn thing. Unless I stop and the Prison Museum. @Iceman Thanks for the heads up on the rest area. I think from now on, I'll just bring my dog and a couple of sandwiches and stop there. If anyone else knows a good park or something, I would like to stop and do a 2-3 mile run somewhere when the weather is nice.

Texas Rangers 2025: Pitching has been fire. Bats not so much.
Pato del Muerto replied to ztejas's topic in Baseball
Yeah if their projected final record is essentially the same, then it would seem like their chances at everything would be fairly close. Maybe they have fewer tiebreaker wins vs likely wildcard teams. Texas for sure is one- pending the final series. -
It’s a weird mix of like Riverdale and the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Supernatural elements mixed with YA romance. It’s not like Beetlejuice and it’s more supernatural Harry Potter. But Jenna Ortega is so fantastic

It depends a lot on what field you're in, I think. I'm pretty sure I could leave my degrees off my resume entirely and it would matter zilch. But that's too many years of experience and results in tech/engineering talking.

Take that to the Federal court in Amarillo, Tyler or Marshall. I’m not the finder of fact.
