  1. I've got a buddy who is a high-up in a big time Dallas firm. Alum, season ticket holder, kids go to Texas, pals around with some big money--the whole deal. Very connected. He says he has no idea what's going on.

  2. Yes, the "blocked" plane I was tracking yesterday (that went Austin --> LA --> Austin) is now set to touch down in Columbus, OH at 3:00 p.m. local time. Edit: Touch down is at 3:00 p.m. tomorrow. Plane is still in Austin.

  3. I was at Nasty's back in the day, shooting pool with Peter Gardere's neighbor. He whipped out a one-hitter that had to be from outer space, or the future...maybe both. I was already in no condition to "herb up," because the bartender at Nasty's sometimes wouldn't stir the grain alcohol into the pitcher of margaritas. it would mostly just sit on the top. If that happened, and you poured yourself the first drink, it was a hammer. That happened to me twice that night. There was also an Asian girl there who kept screaming at me. Apparently, freshman year, I stood up her friend that I was supposed to have taken to a Cult concert. But she doesn't matter. Anywho, I was a wreck. I was close to hallucinating, and needed some air. They had a small patio, and I went out there to collect myself. One of my friends followed me out, and was drunk rambling about a rode trip to Nuevo Laredo for quasi-legal purposes. Then, a voice from the corner of the patio said, "It's a long road to Laredo." I almost jumped out of my skin. I didn't know anyone else was there. He pulled back the hoodie that was covering his head. It was a white guy with a buzz cut, close to my age. He walked up to me, with a vibe of quiet confidence, and said, "Years from now, when you think the Longhorn football program is dead, I will return. The entire university will receive total consciousness." I looked down at the table to grab my drink, looked back at him, and he was gone. I was messed up, so I can't be certain, but I am pretty sure that man was Butch Jones.

  9. You said "no way" emphatically up to a few weeks ago about Texas replacing Herman, Smart or Pierce during a pandemic. Shut the fuck up with your uninformed certitude. My buddy knows plenty, but his opinion doesn't make anything fact. I've said all along that the UM move was a long shot, so if it doesn't happen, anyone playing that side of it can tell us "I told you so", but my view is that it's worth staying excited about at this point, as Texas has done all it could and hasn't fucked up a damned thing during this process. The only site plugged into a thing right now and worth paying attention to is InsideTexas. 247 has nothing but mules; a degenerate, gamblaholic, alcoholic with a penchant for writing UT hit pieces and being connected to Herman and CDC through Burton, which has now vaporized; and some debatably hot, loud-mouthed, juggy broad who follows the degenerate around. Orangebloods has a morbidly obese, morally corrupt glutton who hasn't been able to get himself hoisted out of his cream gravy encrusted concrete chair in months and some dude named "Anwar" that sold his soul to the devil for access to private bawling sessions with Tom Herman. TFB knows their shit when it comes to recruiting, but they have no insights into the UT machine or the college coaching ranks in general. See alincoln's post below. The dude is connected within the Ohio State program and has been while posting on our boards for at least a decade.

  10. Not to piss on the flaming grease fire that is the fast food burger/Urban Meyer/private jet interior lamentation thread here, but one of my buddies has suddenly become despondent over our prospects. Everybody should commence panicking.

  17. Yes, we all have access to elk. I mean, who doesn't? I shoot them from my helicopter like everyone else. They are field dressed by my staff -like everyone else has available. I then have my staff smoke the meat low and slow at 225 F in my XXL Big Green Egg, using ethically sourced, non-GMO fruitwood lump charcoal -- like everyone else. If only people just paid attention and stopped being lazy they could all eat properly like you and I.

  18. Okay, so, BeyondATX LLC as discussed is the entity that owns the 2008 F900 with Tail No. N512KS. It is the only Austin-based F900 in the Jet Linx fleet, and its FAA-registered address ties to the Austin office of Jackson Walker. That tail number is also blocked on FlightAware, so it very well could be the one we have been tracking. One of the LLC's managers (equivalent of a director of a corporation) is Erin Tuggle, Partner at JW Austin that graduated from UT Law. The other manager of BeyondATX LLC is Matt Davis. Per Lexis, the registered address for both managers is PO Box 1465 Austin, TX 78767. An extensive Google'ing of that address will bring up a number of business entities tied to that address, including this one, this one and this one - there are also others. You'll note that Kendra Scott holds an officer or other management position with each of those entities, and that Matt Davis is a manager of the first one I linked above (Gray Street Real Estate LLC). Connection between the two is that Matt Davis is Kendra Scott's ex-husband. On a less interesting note, BeyondATX LLC also has connections to Eric W. Wenzel of California, though it seems like at least some of those connections are in the past (records show he was previously an officer; unclear whether he still holds an equity stake in the entity). Anyways, Wenzel doesn't appear to have any UT connections, though he is a Pittsburgh alumnus. His family also appears to have quite a bit of wealth (involved in retirement plan investment management, real estate, banking, etc.). Erin Tuggle and Matt Davis (Kendra's ex) are obviously involved in management of the LLC and its assets, and my best guess is that Kendra Scott, members of the Wenzel family and surely a number of other individuals are direct or indirect investors/owners of the entity.

  20. The health stuff reads noisy negotiating nonsense, logically, at this point. The Pantoni and Marrotti issues are real. There's also the reality that redlining an agreement is more detail-oriented and time intensive than agreeing to key points and terms. It's banal, but just getting that stuff locked in with the lawyers could take a few days. You don't fire Herman until the pen is ready for the paper, or after the KSU game, whichever comes first. I remain in the "Urban Meyer or fuck all of it" crowd. I won't even conjure the notion of the terrible other shit I've heard thrown out. I will say that no one appears to think that Shanahan has any interest whatsoever, so folks should remove him from the theoretical alternative pool. I doubt many were excited at USC when Pete Carroll was hired. My buddies and I fucking laughed about it. So, anything can happen, but nothing sounds right or good right now besides Urban Meyer. If Texas doesn't land him, I may go actually pull an old hornfans moniker out of the mothballs and start posting under a new handle. One "productive" thing one of you assholes could be doing is reading the OSU boards and linking or c&p'ing anything over that implies new fear or chest-beating from mods or insiders when it comes to their staff and UM. I guess being able to discern who knows what and tone-now vs. tone-normal would take a history of lurking or posting on their sites, so maybe that ideas useless too.

  22. When things were basically as heated as they are now, someone had Nick Saban paged at ABIA as a prank. That was my idea, and some poster did it almost immediately, and minutes later local Austin radio was talking about it. That day is right up there with the birth of my children and ahead of my wedding.

  24. One other thing for those who give a shit. Apparently, when Joe Brady interviewed for the South Carolina job recently, he balked/blanched at all of the requirements of the job once presented with them. He's not ready for prime time as a HC yet. Texas does not have him on the list accordingly. One of the big issues in this cycle, if they don't land Meyer, is that they want to "know" that whoever they hire can handle the size and scope of the role at Texas. Basically, there's a consensus that Herman and Strong were overwhelmed by all of the tasks required of them and there's no excuse for making that mistake again.

  29. NSIAP, but these are the two Pittsburgh Panther staffers who I identified as having potential ties (one strong, other tenuous): Adam Caltury, Director of Recruiting - Served as a recruiting assistant under Meyer at tOSU; his current role at Pitt is the same one Mark Pantoni had at tOSU while Meyer was there (recruiting program coordinator) Michael Stacchiotti, Strength & Conditioning Coach - no ties to tOSU or any of Meyer's former HC stops, but Stacchiotti is an Ohio native (and a pretty well-respective S&C coach based on some quick digging); same role as Marotti, equally strong Italian name; was on Fickell's inagural staff at Cincy

  30. how hilarious is it that all Herman had to do to make the champ game was beat ISU AT HOME, on Senior Day, with 3 weeks to prepare and ISU on a short week and travelling. It really is a stunning absolute failure. If CDC doesn't fire him its all on him.
