What was the name of the coffee shop that was by the co-op around ‘95-‘99?

Thanks. Settling a bet. I thought it was Quackenbush’s. She thought it was Intergalactic. Clearly I’m right.

Well it was both, but everyone called it Quack's.  I was an engineering student and not nearly hip enough to go there, though.  They didn't allow me south of 24th street or west of Speedway, for the most part... :)

Extra credit if one of y'all can name the movie that it was 'featured' in?  Well, shown in 1 or 2 scenes anyway.  and nope, it wasn't "Slackers,"

Top 5 answers are on the board...

What was the one closer to the Scientology place? Insomnia?

In 94-95 the place between Scientology and the co-op that was two stories was Insomnia, I am 100% certain. Later renamed Metro (not sure what year).

Quackenbush's was a block over over between the church and Wooten barber shop.

This is my recollection as well. Quack's was on the corner with the painted wall.

It was absolutely INSOMNIA.

The note on their tip jar said-

“Only Satan’s spawn don’t tip.”

That made me smile. 🙂

Yup, it was Insomnia, later Metro. I lived at the Woo my first year at UT (94-95) and spent many late nights there. There was an Eckerd Drugs next door back then.

The kid who played Hirschfelder in Dazed and Confused worked there for a while.
