To the OP... Precisely what I thought when I was going through my own ordeal. Long story short. Ex got pregnant in '96. We broke up - not by my own doing. It got ugly - i.e. courts. Ex put an offer on the table. Leave (Knoxville), sign away your parental rights, you'll never have to pay a cent of child support. It was tempting because, A) this was before my daughter was born, so there was no real connection and, B) I really, REALLY wanted to come back home (Texas). BUT, the thought of having a child, somewhere out there, that I had nothing to do with... nope. I stuck it out. Worked two jobs, 70 hours a week, went through several years of being really poor and paying lawyers, courts, child support, etc... My daughter and I are very close. She is now 21, attending MTSU, and interning at a music production company. She's flying down Tuesday, and I cannot wait. I'm truly sorry for those that don't have a father or mother in their lives. As a teacher, I see it FAR more often than I should. It's bullshit to bring a child into the world and not be there for them.13 points

took a recent trip up to idaho to fish the snake and henry's fork. floated 3 different sections...unbelievably beautiful, wild country. we caught some nice fish, but the scenery stole the show. sight fished these two on small dries, which is better than sex in my book. threw streamers on the south fork of the snake one day...water was cold and the fish were lazy, but we found some that wanted to play. the last day we floated an isolated stretch that required us to drag the raft about a 1/3rd of a mile down a hill. it was the prettiest, wildest stretch of river i've ever seen. i've never floated 12+ miles of water and never seen a sign of human existence anywhere...not a pipe, not a piece of metal, nothing. i've been in some REALLY remote places chasing fish and always see signs of humans. not on this stretch. the fishing sucked, but it will go down as one of the most memorable days i've had on the water.10 points

"Jimbo Fisher and Co have shown yet again this cycle that they will scour the country for the best talent to fill needs, leaving no stone or state untiurned. Richland, NJ, a hotbed of football in the Garden State, has produced one of the top rising DTs this cycle in Isaiah Raikes, and he didn't have to listen long to make his choice, bringing his SEC body and talent to Aggieland. A player considered by most to be an immovable force in the middle, tipping the scales at 325lbs, "Mud Gate," as he 's known by his teammates, will no doubt contribute early at the top in-state SEC program. Criminally underated a low 3-star by most services, Mud Gate would no doubt be a top 20 player if played in Texas. Once again, Jimbo has proven his elite recruiting will not stop at the Texas border, and the Ags can expect this truly Nationwide approach to pay dividends in the near future." -Loochi, probably10 points

Please. Gibson's sits on land taken from indigenous people, selling products transported by internal combustion engines, made from enslaved and ghoulishly altered plant species grown on land where once rabbit and chipmunk roamed free, fertilized by chemicals, watered from depleted aquifers, made from ancient womyns' recipes put without credit into Anglx cookbooks, perpetuating Judeo-Christian capitalistic "norms" by also "selling" wine in a clear example of mimicking the miracle of the cis-gender Wedding of Cana where the woman again was given like property to her new owner-husband, not to mention that "Gibson" is, well, why not "Gibdaughter"? Patriarchy and penises, that's why. I for one will not be buying anything from that bakery. And it's not because I live 3 states away. ("state" as conqueror/oppressor anthropocentric construct, completely arbitrary.)9 points

I have less respect for "smart" people who support Trump than the mouth-breathers. Mouth-breathers are, well, morons. Smart people should know better. If you're intelligent and vote/support Trump, you are a true piece of shit, imo. No fucking excuse.9 points

Having, at last, completed the great book, A Team of Rivals, I've become a more-informed and ardent admirer of Lincoln. You are so right. That was a man not a mere icon. Trump is the very opposite: a non-man striving to become an icon that is wholly dishonest and, to use his favorite word of projection, fake. He's sort of the adult-aged Michael Jackson of politics without the talent. The whole world can view him for just a few moments and tell something is way off. The more you learn the worse it looks, but people deny their eyes and won't believe the worst might be true. They are invested in their love for the character more than their responsibilities as citizen or decent person. Blind, unquestioning faith? Maybe that explains the psuedo-Christian avid support. Or maybe it's just another manifestation of Idiot World.6 points

Super K Sunday updates: -Lathan Ransom is down to a three-team battle: Texas, Ohio State, and Notre Dame. -It's probably a matter of "when", not "if" for Dorbah announcing for Texas. Princely U made a stop by Texas as well.5 points

It's a Texas-based website, but also one based around a world-class university. So there are fewer of the poorly educated people here that Trump loves, like high-school dropouts and aggies. But you are right that the exceptions are generally silent these days.4 points

At any cost? Sure they jail children and let some of them die, but my class is doing better, so it's fine. A war sure kills a lot of people, but I don't know them and their not of my class. You should see my Halliburton returns and the contract I have for my little start-up to rebuild bombed schools is making me a fortune! Will the national debt maybe destroy the value of the US dollar? Who cares? My class has their money is foreign currency and real estate, we'll never go broke. Hell, we'll buy everything up during the next depression! We all win! I suppose your point is that it's foolish to think that wealthy people have any morals or regard for people outside of their class. Some actually do.4 points

A 6 year old and a 4 year old are raking the yard. The 6 year old asks, "You know what? I think it's about time we started learning to cuss." The 4 year old nods his head in approval. The 6 year old continues, "When we go in for breakfast, I'm gonna say something with hell and you say something with ass." The 4 year old agrees with enthusiasm. When the mother walks into the kitchen and asks the 6 year old what he wants for breakfast, he replies, "Aw, hell, Mom, I guess I'll have some Cheerios. Whack! He flies out of his chair, tumbles across the kitchen floor, gets up,and runs upstairs crying his eyes out, with his mother in hot pursuit, slapping his rear with every step. His mom locks him in his room and shouts, "You can stay there until I let you out!" She then comes back downstairs, looks at the 4 year old and asks with a stern voice, "And what do YOU want for breakfast, young man?" "I don't know," he blubbers, "but you can bet your fat ass it won't be Cheerios!"4 points

Just so I'm clear here. The Times published a story that isn't true, but at the same time, what the Times reported was treasonous.3 points
