  1. Hello nerds. Long time lurker here, but wanted to say this thread has inspired me to put up and not shut up. Just signed up for Burnt Ends and set up a recurring donation to Texas One Fund. Now I can finally say I am a bag dropper... hopefully others will join as well too.

  2. This is possibly the most remarkable piece of prose ever written in the English language. The highlights: A a 52-word run-on sentence comprising the entire first paragraph, with no punctuation save for one lonely apostrophe. Another 32-word run-on sentence. Random first-letter capitals. Sentences with no verbs. Sentences with no subjects. Sentences with no clear verbs or subjects. Misspelled words. Odd porn reference. Odd violence reference. Missing apostrophes. Missing ending punctuation. Misogynism. Homophobia. And the hidden gem: " a salt and battery."

  5. I agree with much of what you said, but without saying too much, you need to remove InsideTexas from this list of guys who "haven't done shit." Bobby Burton has put his blood, sweat, and tears into getting Texas NIL launched properly. That guy has done as much or more than anyone here, and continues to do more than anyone anywhere else. He's intimately and strategically involved in creating, and helping to drive this stuff forward. And when I say anyone here, I'm including myself and everyone else from Surly who got this shit started and helped drive it forward. Just because you don't see a Burnt Ends program or BAMF program on IT doesn't mean that they aren't doing shit. Maybe the website doesn't have anything visible, but the guy who owns it has spent a fuck ton of time and airplane miles making shit happen. And that extra time and effort sure as shit isn't netting him more content or users. It's because he loves Texas and wants to see us fucking win.

  7. I think they truly believe that our conversation with the SEC went something like this: CDC: Hey Sankey, we think it would be mutually beneficial for us to join the SEC with Oklahoma. Sankey: I'm listening CDC: Well, since you are inviting us, we have some demands.. Sankey: OK, anything. Just let me know what it is. CDC: We want you to break your gentlemen's agreement with A&M in the most embarrassing way possible. Sankey: But that will set their program back years.. CDC: Exactly. Next on the agenda is that we demand the first game back be played in Austin. Sankey: But that will make them feel very belittled.. CDC: You catch on fast. Also, we would like all of the other schools in the conference to target them in recruiting to stop them paying players. Sankey: I suppose I can ask Nick and Kirby, but won't that lead to a 5-7 season full of turmoil and transfers? CDC: I knew I liked you.. Finally, and this is an important one.. We want longhorn logos embossed on all of the chairs at SEC media days. This is non-negotiable. Sankey: Gosh, I suppose if it's just for a day.. CDC: No... forever. Sankey: Deal CDC: Say hello to Mrs. Sankey for me.

  8. It's rare post-1940 to see someone so nakedly support appeasement. There's a reason for that. That's just dead wrong. They don't almost always win. It's the opposite. The won in 1945 because we were supplying them. But without that logistical support, they lost in 1917 (owing to a failure of logistics); they lost in 1905 (owing to a failure of logistics); they lost in 1856 (owing to a failure of logistics).

  12. Hi all! Surgery went well. Right cancer titty is gone, along with 3 lymphnodes. Pathology comes back on that in a week or so. She had the genetic testing done and has no markers, so she went with the single mastectomy. Healing is going well. I appreciate the warning on the drain lines. We are hand washing, using gloves and alcohol wipes when stripping the lines and emptying the JP drains. I’d rather have all the scary info that we have a little control over than none. Take care and thank you.

  15. This shit right here. As someone else in this thread has said many times, "when someone tells you who they are, you believe them". Russia has already made known their desire to "reclaim" the lands of the Soviet Union. Pacifying pussy Putin won't produce peace.

  23. This is reason enough, but if you agree with Kasparov, which I do; we are already in WW3. putin has already determined this and is treating it as such, it's a matter now of whether or not it is limited to just Ukraine. If the Ukrainians do not win, and are ultimately defeated here (which I do not believe will happen), then it is just a matter of time before Russia does this again in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Romania, Georgia and anywhere else they think they can get away with this. The stakes are freedom in Eastern Europe and at least some of central Asia, with or without putin (if unchecked, whomever succeeds putin will likely act in the same manner). A defeated and broken Russia leads to the possibility of at least some internal change in Russia for the positive. Otherwise, we are going to be subject to nuclear blackmail on a global stage and Russia will continue wars of aggression and terror. We've been down this road to before, and our failure to act has lead us to where we are now, it needn't continue.

  28. Huh. I know, secondhand (friends of a good friend) Ukrainian software developers who had to take shelter underground in Kyiv with their families as Russia bombed them. I want peace. But not at the price of the freedom and lives of innocents. Sometimes, you stand and fight. It ain’t about a border, it’s about who is on your side of the border, and what they’ll do to you. We know - with stark proof - that Russians will slaughter Ukrainians and extinguish their culture and any freedom that have had. Yeah. You stand and fight.

  33. Short version, the A10 needs almost total air superiority to operate effectively, and Ukraine is nowhere close to having air superiority. Other platforms can handle the close support mission with precision munitions better than setting up a long supply tail for A10s. Drone guided artillery, F-16s with JDAMS guided by drones with laser designators, Excalibur artillery rounds, etc.

  34. I like a lot of what he says, but he's also been Mr. Doom and Gloom, and he's ignoring the fact that Russia is having supply problems, from providing ammo to troops to providing trucks, APCs, tanks, etc. (or being too optimistic that they can fix them). What Russia could get away with in terms of human waves in 1944 won't fly in 2023 with modern drones putting infantry under constant surveillance, HIMARS and other precision artillery fires a constant threat to large groups of infantry, while Ukraine is constantly expanding the power/lethality of its forces as new systems come into the field. Plus, Ukraine has a large army already, and it's increasing as more and more Ukrainians train under NATO troops.

  35. All of that is badass. "At a meeting of the National Security Council in Warsaw, President Andrzej Duda said: "The prime minister couldn't be here, he went to Kyiv to bring Leopard tanks which are the first batch delivered to Ukraine." Here's the short article the tweet links to: The video in the link at the end says the first tanks aren't expected until the end of March. Looks like Poland decided to move that time line up a bit!
