  1. I'm not. I've been playing around with this girl for a few months. Even took her to Luckenbach. Her brother is still in Ukraine fighting.

  3. The Baltics would like a word. Finland too. But especially the Baltics....they fucking HATE Russia. Here's an interesting truth: every European country that shares a border with Russia fucking HATES Russia (with the "maybe" exception of Belarus -- hard to tell, what with the Russian-backed repression of all dissent). Every fucking one. Remember the rule: Russia is asshole.

  4. Russia isn't fucking changing. Period. What you do now is you beat their asses, watch them tumble into 10 or 20 years or whatever of fucking despair, and while that happens and their shit isn't together, you fortify the border of every NATO country that can fuck their shit up, and you force them to go East if they want to fucking plunder. Go pick a fight with fucking China. And you keep those sanctions going. They can either figure out how to build a prosperous country based upon their own renewed internal industry, or they can rot. They want Sanctions removed? That'll be the fucking nukes. That's my fantasyland long term solution for those shitbirds. Can they even build a modern military after they completely grind what they have now into the dust? Make them find out, but good luck.

  7. I've asked about Livingstone recently because I don't get it. It's largely what's being assumed on here. We're competing against Arkansas and South Carolina for his services, soooo, yeah. He's a glue guy/OKG and won't be a headache on NIL. He's everyone's only headscratcher for Texas in this cycle. To the last point, things look good for the coming weeks. There's no naivete around how NIL works or will it work or do we have it. Corporate work is now also being actively pursued. Coaches can make a pretty attractive sell to what recruits would be in store for at Texas by simply highlighting how things are going for the current roster. There aren't many guys who will visit who aren't thinking about NIL front and center. Everybody thinks they're in on the right guys. The only major issue in this cycle may not be an issue either - can Sarkisian win 10+ and look like a coach who can build a playoff regular?

  15. If aggy was smart they would want the game in Austin. If they lose in Austin then it was just another loss on the road in conference but if they were to win then they can hail it as a glorious victory that shows they have truly overtaken big bad Texas as the premier team in state. In college Station they absolutely have to win. A loss means that the status quo has never changed. It means that everything they have beaten their chest about and screamed at the top of their lungs over since 2012 was meaningless. A loss for Texas in CS would be bad but in reality is just a tough loss on the road in conference. A road loss for aggy would be bad but a home loss would be absolutely devastating. They stand to lose a hell of a lot more from a home loss than one in Austin.

  16. I think context matters on things like how funny we perceive a film to be - your age upon viewing, hell even your environment and mood. I thought Animal House was great, but I also first saw it when I was 11 or 12. I may not have thought so if I first saw it as an adult (I need to really be in the mood for sophomoric humor to even kinda enjoy it). Same with anything Monty Python. I also think Caddyshack is terribly overrated, though Rodney always made me laugh. In my older age, I have realized that the height of comedy necessarily combines deep irony, dark humor, desperation, human suffering, hyperbole, pathos, and yes, a splash of juvenile whimsy. Which is why - and I am 100% serious here, because this transcends age, mood, environment - I have come to realize that the zenith of all comedy is TexAgs screenshots.

  25. This is the real problem with Russia; as much as the civilized world loathes Vladimir #Putin, the sad, troublesome truth is that he could disappear from the face of the earth tomorrow, along with his entire kleptocratic regime, and #Russia would STILL be a significant problem for its neighbors and the civilized world because of its malignant national culture. Look at the significant effort the West had to undertake, for decades, to transform German and Japanese malignant cultures after World War II: In those cases, the West was able to successfully eradicate Nazism in Germany and imperialism in Japan because the Allies were the victors and occupiers of those two countries after the Second World War. By contrast, when the Soviet Union finally collapsed under its own weight in 1991, Communist Party leaders simply tossed aside their party pins, threw on business suits, and overnight became "managers". Over time, the shrewdest and most unscrupulous in Russia became billionaire kleptocrats. After 1991, there were no arrests, no Nuremberg tribunals...nothing. No one was held accountable for 70+ years of communism. Neither the West nor Ukraine is going to occupy the Russian Federation (or what's left of it) after this war ends. That means the task of finally coming to grips with the past, and with all the poisonous aspects of their culture, is not going to be imposed on Russia by victorious foreigners. Instead, that is going to be a task for the Russian people to do THEMSELVES. But here's the problem: For the past 23 years, Putin's authoritarian regime managed to drive all serious political opponents into exile, jail them, or very publicly kill them (as a lesson to other foolhardy souls contemplating political reform). So who is going to LEAD this necessary oncological procedure, to eliminate the malignant cancer that has infected Russia's national culture for centuries? When Putin finally goes, I suspect there will be one or two interim figures before Russia finally gets a leader who has a shot at righting the ship. But who will that person be? Whoever it is, that person will certainly have a tough road ahead of him (or her).

This was pretty much a lot of us the first few months when we were sending them Javelins and then watching the highlight reels. And now they are getting cruise missiles and main battle tanks.

  28. To be clear, USC did make a run at CDC. Liucci probably heard that from the USC side and ran with it, trying to make it a story. Problem is, Liucci doesn't understand critical differences between ATM and Texas at core levels. He's got an asymmetrical information gap working against him and there is no way in hell he will ever be able to see it or understand it. His insecurity and bias would never allow for that kind of learning. He heard "we're targeting Del Conte" from one of the USC losers and immediately assumed that, and needed to see that, USC would sweep CDC off of his feet. Why? 1) He watched it happen at ATM, "so why wouldn't it also happen at Texas?" and 2) He knows somewhere deep down that Del Conte is damned good at what he does, so it benefitted his outlook to believe that he'd leave. Texas isn't ATM, Billdo. Texas isn't a little dicked little brother constantly getting sand kicked in its face by the rest of the world on every level. USC is a fucking mess. Texas can always match the money side of it. Texas is the premier athletic department in the country and still, Del Conte gets to be responsible for helping it transition into a better place and has his legacy stamped all over it. Del Conte doesn't need to go somewhere else to be fulfilled in his ambitions. You dumb, insecure motherfucker.
