βAgShaun00β coming in with what will soon be known as fact - Texas had to pay double what ATM was offering to get Bishop. Heβs already got access to both programsβ offers and what drove the decision for the player. Also, to be clear, no recruit is getting a firm NIL offer from Texas at this stage in the cycle. Not Bell, not Bishop, not any of them. Guys committing now simply believe theyβll be taken care of and UT has players on the roster helping assure recruits that that is true. Agents and parents all know that as well. Those idiots are truly lost.18 points

Its actually hilarious that there's so much film on this guy and you guys have seen most if not all of it repeatedly and you still haven't come to a consensus because of emotional garbage or who knows what. Quinn Ewers was painfully adequate. That's the enigma here. He was obviously an elite talent, who has head scratching mediocre film for a substantial amount of his career. He also has a pretty crazy highlight reel that is easily top 5 every season he played. Dude makes insane throws and had incredible touch. He also had complete shitfest games that are inexcusable at his level or for an NFL caliber player. Think OK State + Georgia reg season Everyone has arguments that are correct on aspects or portions of his body of work, but Quinn as the complete body of work is just Painfully Adequate.14 points

One problem: His concluding question to TAMU fans is whether they'd rather be 8-4 in the SECX3 or 11-1 in the B12. That's a false dichotomy. They would not be 11-1 in the B12. They would be 8-4. It's who they have been, who they are, who they will be.13 points

You understand, though, that your employer is an organization that represents a whole lot of stakeholders, including the owners/shareholders. And it controls the purse strings. Whereas the employees are not an organization and do not control the purse strings. The sole leverage of an employee is "I quit." That works ok for that one employee, I guess, bootstraps and all, but doesn't help any of the others. And it only works ok for the employee if s/he can obtain a similar or improved situation elsewhere. And, when right-leaning means Trump, I'll take left-leaning every day and five times on Tuesday. That's not the ding you seem to think it is.12 points

I'll presume to add to that another related observation. When you read their boards you see a recurring notion about what brings success: emotion. Their baseball team is pressing too hard and tight if you still love them while they lose. They just don't give a shit is the reasoning of the disappointed who begin to despise all but a few of the players (the real Ags!). Earley should be loosening them up or inspiring them to care enough to achieve easily attained victory. The don't give a shit appraisal is true of all major sports where the teams fail. The dullards' main technical concern in football is "adjustments." Seems they're not being made at halftime. Nobody elaborates beyond the lack of adjustments. Why get involved in the details of strategy or tactics when all that really matters is squeezing your gonads in the ultimate display of emotional support? When they loved Jimbo, his problem was stubborness. When they turned on him, they decided he didn't give a shit. All of this, in my opinion, is tied to their whole culture of redass expressions of gung-ho-ness no matter how inane or fatal. If they yell loud enough, the good ol' Texas Aggies will have the strength to vanquish their opponents and assert the power of Aggie emotion. They're basically addicted to hysteria. Hysterical love for all things Aggie. Hysterical hatred of all things not Aggie (virtue) in the form of t.u. (ebil). We get to be hysterical in the sense of extreme amusement.11 points

Ha ha, holy shit. "If he was going to be really good, why hasn't he been really good?" I love this for two reasons: (1) The concept of "development over time" is a complete unknown to this dude. Of course he doesn't think players can improve, he's a fan of A&M football. (2) Arch has been really good. As a backup QB in 2024, who only logged three starts, he managed to amass over a 1,000 of offense, including 13 TDs to 2 Ints and a completion percentage of 67.8%. I know they're dumb, but they still never fail to impress with just how dumb they are.10 points

Some very, very positive notes on Bishop. Quite a combo of ability/potential/proven production in school Gabe Brooks just posted an article; some fun excerpts below, followed by the full note. I'm thrilled. EXCERPTS "Seismic addition for Texas." "If you're looking for an impact level on a 1-10 scale, Bishop's commitment would be a 10, in our opinion. For programs competing on a national level, he represents a class-leading receiver or class-leading defensive back in our eyes." " ... he was DJ Lagway's top target in Fall 2023, and his receiving statistics (receptions, yards, TDs) slightly increased in Fall 2024. Pretty impressive considering the change of QB." "One of the best pure football players in the country, reflected by absurd production on both sides of the ball across multiple Texas 6A varsity seasons." Reminds us of these players in recent years: Jordan Addison (WR, Vikings), Mekhi Blackmon (CB, Vikings), Travis Hunter (ATH, Jaguars), Kamari Lassiter (CB, Texans), Ladd McConkey (WR, Chargers). Just perusing the aggie 247 site any old time, one can find them calling for the heads of key positions for numerous sports. Many of their posters want Earley gone right now. Many of them also canβt even spell his name correctly, but hey. I get that the guy is probably a predictable bust, but firing him after one season is insane even for aggies. That will cost $3M and what coach is going to go there immediately following that debacle? A healthy amount of them want The Elk fired if he doesnβt go to the playoffs this season. I think he has like a $30+M buyout. The guy might not be a 10+ win a year guy, but who would be there? Many of them seem to think the new basketball coach is in a one year trial and want him gone if he doesnβt take the program to heights it has never reached in year 1. Your point about Marcel Reed is also dead on. Part of why theyβll never win anything is because theyβre fueled by the insecurities of what those around them are accomplishing at any given point in time, chief of whom is Texas. Theyβre like a drove of lemmings, just looking for the next target to take over the cliff with them all.10 points

Also, there's a lot besides his play that has to do with that narrative - I also think that without Quinn coming back that Texas would have taken significantly longer to become dominant, and that's not because he was just some guy that put everyone on his back, it was because it made Texas relevant and he was a significant draw for A LOT of additional talent, especially on the offensive side of the ball. He also started off with a very high floor, even when quinn was playing poorly it was still good enough to win the majority of the games. He definitely had some help with schedule etc early on with a really weak big xii and an Oklahoma that was floundering etc but lets not sit here and fucking pretend that we are where we are without Quinn transferring in from Ohio State. The gravitational pull he had, and kept even after his first season was incredible. Now did that fade going into 2024? Sure, he got passed up by Arch and everyone really wanted Arch to have been playing and Quinn to have left anyway, but if he just plays 2022 and 2023 seasons I still maintain that everyone here think's he's a fucking legend. In 2024 the team made back to back semifinals, the only team to have done it and that wouldn't have happened without Quinn's involvement in the program. I don't think that means that HE GOT Texas to the Semis, it just wouldn't have happened without all the steps that happened because he was around. There's a lot more than the first order effect of him playing that went into the evaluation that he brought Texas all the way back.9 points
