But you canβt remove politics from it. Somebody who would support causing this much suffering is not a good person. Theyβre great people to you. But theyβre bad people. Itβs something we all have to deal with. My brother-in-law is a guy whose company I enjoy. Heβs been good to me. But knowing his politics and listening to what he has to say about various out groups and the joy he takes in Trump hurting themβheβs a bad person. And I very frankly donβt want to be around him.22 points

Gotta say, this is one of the more annoying recruiting stretches I can remember. Not because the sky is falling or anything, but it sure feels like a lot of manufactured interest for no real reason. A ton of dudes that everyone on this board would have assumed are headed elsewhere until βtrust us, Texas is RIGHT in this thingββ¦ only for each of them to pick the obvious choice. Weβre still gonna end up with a class that gives satya nightmares, itβs just annoying that we were even paying attention to any of these players in the first place.16 points

Through some extremely serendipitous circumstances, I have been able to escape Texas. Now, it's a bit of a lateral move, as I'm in Ohio for at least a year, but...better than Texas. Still spent the last two weeks crying a lot about leaving my home tho13 points

28 upvotesβ¦ as an aside, Iβm in the middle of a road trip to Cali, and back to Houston. After visiting Disneyland, universal studios, and plenty of stops at hotels near national parks (small towns) I feel pretty fucking comfortable saying much of America is a sad, borderline grotesque mass of fatbodies and low IQ dipshits in WWE t shirts and motoring around on rascals. So this post is hits close to home, in a different way. San Diego, and in particular La Jolla, remains fucking awesome and full of attractive people . And some Russians.11 points

Iβm sure there are a lot of games that get played in recruitments between coaches/programs. I wonder if Texas will throw an offer to some of these guys even if they are a long shot for us. If it costs Georgia more money to sign Johnson or Prothro to match our offers, then maybe it will be harder for them to match a much bigger offer we may make for Atkinson later. Iβm curious is this is an actual strategy. Last year, they couldnβt match our offer to Justus Terry. Wonder if weβll steal another big name recruit. Texas ended up winning almost every major recruiting battle they wanted last year outside of DK Moore. Lots of those guys committed else where earlier in the cycle. Iβm guessing Texas will play the slow game and throw their biggest and best offers to the players the covet in the fall.10 points

Donβt fuck with our lands. As you stated, this seems to be one of the last bipartisan subjects left. That said, this fight will go on forever because shitheads just canβt seem to stop themselves from trying this over and over. To paraphrase John Muir: the enemies of wildness are invincible and unwavering. But for every acre that you gain, the trees and their lovers will sing their praises, and generations yet unborn will rise up and call them blessed.9 points

54 years old. Had my annual physical last week including the typical blood tests, except my doctor asked if I wanted to also try a new test for markers of Alzheimer's/dementia since I've had memory issues the past several years. About 8 to 10 years ago I had an MRI on my brain and it showed cerebral atrophy at an advanced level for my age back then, but my neurologist retired a couple of months later and things didn't seem to be getting any worse, so I didn't do pursue it any further. Anyway, a day or two after my physical, my doctor's nurse calls and says test results are normal-ish, but the typical "lose weight, eat better, exercise" routine they say every year. So I think, that's that, see you next year. Then Thursday night at 8:38, my doctor, not his nurse, calls to talk about the other test, which frankly, I had forgotten about. He goes on to explain that my results were a bit "outside of the normal range" and that he's going to find a new neurologist for me to start the process to understand how far along I am. So basically, as he explained it, at this point, it's not so much will I get it, but when will I develop it, if I haven't already. I have noticed that it's a lot more difficult to focus on stuff at work and keep my thoughts organized, but it hasn't been at an alarming rate. I just figured that it was because as I age, my give a shit has naturally decreased. I've been trying to process everything and I'm lost, frankly. I feel fine. Don't notice too much different honestly. But the idea that I don't know how much of a future I'll have, is messing with me. It's not like it's an aggressive cancer diagnosis, but it's still a horrible way to go out, and I certainly don't want to be a burden to anyone. I know that at this point, having not seen a specialist yet, I'm kinda putting the cart before the horse, but I keep thinking that life as I know it is about to be over. I'm not afraid of death, but I don't want a prolonged, drawn out demise that's miserable for everyone involved. That leads to some really dark and also ridiculous thoughts. I'm a planner. I plan everything out. But all of the sudden, that seems useless.9 points

straw man, moving the goalposts, tu quoque etc. You are a fucking liar, and you deal only in logical fallacies. The EXACT conversation is about the IDF targeting civilians at food distribution centers. Not one fucking word about "weapon stockpiles" or any of that bullshit. You tirelessly look for justification for war crimes, when a human being of ANY moral character sees and condemns the war crime. And no, I'd say the group that hates Palestinians the most is the group that has openly stated that they intend to purge all of Gaza of them, completely and totally (the openly stated goal of the Israeli regime and its internal partners). It's a stiff competition, as the gulf states and Palestinian leadership aren't helpful and are actually harmful, but that has nothing to do with the fact that the IDF is purposefully murdering civilians at food distribution points. THOSE civilian deaths aren't a "masturbatory release" -- they are instead the result of deliberate policy of extermination and ethnic cleansing. That - as we decided in the wake of such actions with respect to jews 80+ years ago, is bad.8 points

βAllegedβ things? I just posted multiple videos showing IDF shooting first responders from ambulances like fish in a barrel. Interviews with doctors talking about the blatant targeting of predominately women and children. Not people shot in cross fire. 4-5 year old kids with sniper bullets both in the head and heart. IDF soldiers doing interviews stating they are being told to shoot at civilians and to occupy these peopleβs homes. A video of the former Israeli prime minister condemning these actions. These are not alleged things. The UN just stated for Palestinianβs to stop going to food aid sites because they have become slaughterhouses. Their wordsβ¦ not mine. And yes, Israel has been suppressing Palestinians for decades, whether itβs settlers pushing people out of their homes, building a wall around them and caging them, pouring cement in their water system, cutting off all internet access, cutting off food from getting into Gaza for years, taking away their rights, arresting them and putting them in military prison for crossing a line on a street. Yes this has all been happening before October 7th. This is a conflict that goes both ways much longer than October 7th. Unfortunately you donβt get to hear or see the other side because it is censored. Why is it censored, because AIPAC spends millions and millions of dollars on the politicians we elect to keep American tax payer dollars flowing to Israeli citizens. Our money to fund bombs for a conflict that has nothing to do with us.8 points

Jesus. Proposition 1: Civilians die in wars, because wars are messy. TRUE. Proposition 2: Intentionally TARGETING civilians (as opposed to them being incidental casualties) is a war crime. ALSO TRUE. The issue here is not Proposition 1 (sure, it merits its own discussion, the full scope of the war, etc., but that's not what is being raised re the food distribution point slaughters). The issue is Proposition 2. There is much reason to conclude/evidence demonstrating that the IDF is intentionally targeting and killing civilians at food aid distribution points. If that is true, it is a war crime. We should not support the commission of war crimes, we should demand accountability for such war crimes, particularly because they are using our weapons etc. to do so. Jesus fucking christ, the dismissal - FFS, the GLEE - reflected in posts that are okay with the intentional murder of civilians is fucking sick. If you support the INTENTIONAL targeting of civilians in Gaza because Hamas is bad and started shit it shouldn't have, you are a genuinely evil piece of shit.8 points
