Horseshit. Snubbing the players who've worked their ass off to get to the best season in Ole Miss history is BS. Ole Miss is 100% in the playoffs either way, so doesn't matter, but just a dumbass idea.

I was asking a question….the Committee did it to FSU.  So how is this different?

I feel sorry for the players. They earned the record and worked their asses off for 11-1. So I do feel bad for them. The university should have figured out that he wasn’t coming back when he didn’t re-up pretty quick like 6 sought after coaches already did with their current schools.

While the rest of this is amusing the shitty impact on the Ole Miss players is certainly not. It truly sucks for them.

I get what you are saying but seems like you could argue that situation was a player on the field in the most important position vs a head coach whose system and players will still be there on the field.

Well, FSU lost their star player and QB and their issues were clear prior to the choice. So FSU players were "punished" for a player issue.

That's not the same as punishing the players for a coach's choice.

I mean they could absolutely snub them. But it doesn’t help Texas one lick I don’t think? Or maybe it does. We are right there on the bubble. ole Miss should have locked down someone or been in talks with several someones. It’s obvious to me that their Big Money Peeps and Decision Makers snowed themselves into thinking he’d come back. They ain’t playing in the CCG game so…they have a week to lock someone in the committee would buy into. To perhaps not lose a spot. I don’t think they will lose a spot. The committee was forced to decide if the Big 12 CCG winner was a better CFP candidate than a 13-0 ACC CCG Winner without a QB. Neither one of us were going to win it all. They made a tough choice. And one that sent FSU into a tailspin. Sad shit. But neither UT nor FSU was winning it all. We had by far a better chance though.

everything, portal, 1st signing day, coach hires, everything has got to be pushed to 7 days after the title game

Don't think moving signing day would do much nowadays with so many HS kids being early enrollees.

True….if they’d have tripped over their own dicks yesterday this would be a legit issue

Why does that matter? Ole Miss doesn't owe him anything.

I look at it from the opposite angle. As it stands right now, if Kiffin were to leave today to get a jump on recruiting, coaching staff, etc... at LSU, then somebody owes Ole Miss $4M to buyout Kiffin's contract. If he can get them to fires his ass for cause, then nobody owes Ole Miss shit. A cynic could say that Kiffin really doesn't want to stick around at all, but is holding that out there so that Ole miss fires him rather than letting him coach it out.

Not saying this happens but it would be epic if Ole Miss won it all with an interim HC lol. 😂 this shit is like crack.

Kiffin sure knows how to make an exit. What 3 or 4 times so far? Just spectacular in every way. He one ups himself on his way out the door.

I mean the committee has a lot to answer for if they punished anyone for an injury.

They didn't punish the team for the injury, the kept them out because it was clear that the team absolutely sucked without the injured player. They were 100% correct.

12 teams, not 4. Leaving out an 11-1 SEC team from the 12 team field? Nah

It’s not a punishment. It’s selecting the best teams, as they exist, at the time of selection.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but I think it's really shitty that coaches can leave and be hired while the season is still in progress. Ole Miss will almost certainly have a playoff spot, but will not be near 100% without Kiffin, and with the way the portal works, his players will be distracted by recruiting and figuring out where to go next year instead of the game ahead. It's also extremely unfair to the players and fans that outside forces derail a great season.

Florida State lost a CFP spot because their star QB broke his leg.  Ole Miss should lose their spot for the hell of it - fuck them.

To balance things out, another SEC team could slide into their spot.  I wonder who could fill the void?

Based on known facts. I agree and there is zero factual evidence supporting that thought that Ole Miss will perform worse without Lane. Lots of reasonable speculation, but zero facts.

Most of them are well compensated.  The sport wants to go full Thunderdome?  Have at it, warts and all.

Having a wee bit of a defense might be a good thing for them? It’s the offense that likely suffers. It’s so easy to lock down an offensive guru with proven CFP type wins at the last minute. Who the fuck would that even be?

Yep, they are kind of lucky Alabama hung on last night.  Don't have to go play the SEC title game without Lane like FSU had to go play the ACC title game without their QB and looked like dogshit doing it.

Buddy of mine closely connected to the program just told me that he gone. This isn’t something he’d joke about either. He even had some incredibly choice words about Kiffin that he’s never even come close to saying about him.
Unless this is the greatest orchestrated joke he’s playing on me. And the likelihood of that is nada.

Ok now that it's official, spill the choice words.

It’s a dumb move. You have just as good of a chance to win at Ole Miss and the pressure is much lower. Baron Rogue isn’t exactly an awesome place to live either.

Oxford is a kick ass town.

No argument on pulling for the success of any recovering alcoholic or addict, that should be across the board for everyone. Is Baton Rouge really the best place for that? Maybe? Around Coach O his former well known partner in crime and poon hound. LSU is corrupt but they want wins. And will want them in short order. I worry about that environment. That place is a party on wheels. Hope it doesn’t derail what he has achieved. It has the makings of a BIG WIN or an epic mess.

Staying sober in Oxford isn’t any easier than Baton Rouge. Hell, the Ole Miss cry was always “we might lose the game but we never lose the party.”

Look. I can be corrupt too. I know a little football. I am willing if Texas don’t make the CFP shit to roll up my sleeves and help the land sharks on their offensive staff (since Lane gutted it) for $666,666.66 I will do this. Most of you would roll up your sleeves too. Someone with any connections make this happen. Okay. Thanks! All you peeps bragging about big connections hook me up. Go Horns! 🤘🏼
