Michael Cohen Investigation

Blutto, Mueller has never held a press conference and his team doesn't  have a reputation to leak to the press. They are using Avenatti. They are fine with letting him do his thing. That is my take but I could be wrong and Mueller would like him to shut up. As long as he doesn't run afoul of Mueller's investigation or any conflict of interest in Stormy's case, he has been allowed to  proceed.

Avenatti was actually questioned recently if he was working or in communication with the Mueller team.

His answer: “We are not going to comment on our interactions with law enforcement.”

My guess is he’s running shit by someone associated with Mueller before he goes public.

like...”Please give no response if it’s okay for me to put this out there.”

To be fair I can’t figure out if half the PI attorneys I know are living paycheck to paycheck or have 10M in the bank.

Or both. Lol

I ‘member a couple 50k tabs in Miami.

Some of the big ones use some pretty kooky financing to keep the doors open between verdicts.  The gambling mentality that makes them PI lawyers tends to extend to every facet of their lives.

A fair number of them, especially if they are flashy like Avenatti, are $30K millionaires, actually worse because their net worth is frequently negative at any given time.

The lower profile, more conservative ones are the ones you have to watch out for.  Windle Turley, Frank Branson, guys you've never heard of and certainly not through them.

So here's the article that got me reading a bit more about Avenatti...

http://www.businessinsider.com/stormy-daniels-lawyer-michael-avenatti-tullys-coffee-lawsuits-2018-5

My guess is that Avenatti is not as flush as he would like us to believe. He also seems a bit evasive when answering questions about his current involvement with Tully's.

To be clear, I don't really give a fuck about Avenatti's morals other than the impact it will have on the court of public opinion. Because there are a lot of people in this country that will have to be forced to change their opinion on Trump for this country to move forward. Rolling around in the mud with Trump hasn't proven to be a terribly effective approach to date. Mueller's team seems to realize this, I'm not convinced Avenatti particularly cares, especially if he can enrich himself in this process. I'll gladly admit if I'm wrong, but the dude seems to throw up a lot of red flags.

This explains why the FBI was talking to Lesin. Possible money Laundering when he purchased California Real Estate.

Holy Shit, I wonder if the Trump property was involved in this? Since Mueller presumably has all this and investigated it months ago, then Michael digging and spilling the beans after the fact doesn't interfere with Mueller's investigation and helps put more heat on Trump. This shit is fascinating. I hope Mueller drops the hammer down soon because I want to know if this is on the right track.

  Reveal hidden contents

WASHINGTON -- U.S. federal authorities are considering a request to investigate whether a powerful Russian state media boss, Mikhail Lesin, violated U.S. anti-money-laundering laws when he purchased expensive California real estate.

RFE/RL has obtained a copy of a December 3 letter from U.S. Assistant Attorney General Peter Kadzik that says the request by U.S. Senator Roger Wicker was referred to the U.S. Justice Department's criminal division and the FBI.

A U.S. Justice Department spokesman confirmed the letter's authenticity.

Lesin, the head of Russian state-owned entertainment conglomerate Gazprom-Media, is a former Russian press minister and is seen as the mastermind behind the Kremlin-funded RT broadcasting network.

Wicker asked the U.S. Justice Department in July to investigate whether Lesin used illicit funds to purchase several multimillion-dollar homes in the Los Angeles area.

Wicker told RFE/RL that while the Justice Department "does not confirm or deny the existence of an ongoing investigation," he believed Kadzik's letter "is a positive step forward."

"I am hopeful that the full range of tools available to the agency are being used to look into possible violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and anti-money-laundering statutes by Mr. Lesin," Wicker said in e-mailed comments.

Documents submitted in unrelated litigation in California Superior Court and obtained by RFE/RL show Lesin is the sole owner of Dastel Corporation, a company incorporated in California in July 2011.

Public property registries show that Dastel Corporation purchased a 13,000-square-foot (1,208-square-meter) Beverly Hills home in August 2011 for $13.8 million and a 10,600-square-foot (985-square-meter) Brentwood home for $9 million in 2012.

Public records and court documents show that two other pricey properties in the Los Angeles area are linked to Lesin's immediate family.

In his July 29 letter to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, Wicker said the fact "that a Russian public servant could have amassed the considerable funds required to acquire and maintain" such expensive assets abroad "raises serious questions."

Lesin responded to Wicker's letter in a lengthy interview with the Russian version of "Forbes" magazine in August, claiming that his children took out loans to purchase the real estate in question.

"It certainly is not my property," Lesin said in the interview.

But Dastel Corporation president and treasurer Ilya Tsipis said in a July 21 declaration to Los Angeles Superior Court that from the company's inception, "the entire issued and outstanding stock of Dastel has been owned by a single person: Mikhail Lesin, a resident of the United States of America."

Tsipis attached to his declaration what he called a "true and correct copy" of Lesin's stock certificate, which corroborates Tsipis's statements and was seen by RFE/RL. Tsipis added that Dastel "is not owned and has never been owned" by Lesin's son, Anton Lessine, daughter-in-law, or wife.

The declaration was made in connection with a lawsuit filed by a household worker employed by Dastel who claims that the company and Lesin's immediate family members committed numerous labor-law violations.

That lawsuit is set to go to trial in March, according to the U.S. local news site Patch.com.

Anton Lessine is a film producer who served alongside Hollywood star Brad Pitt as an executive producer for the World War II drama "Fury," which starred Pitt and was released in October.

Lesin said in the "Forbes" interview that his daughter heads a bureau for RT, the Kremlin-funded international news network launched in 2005.

Lesin has been widely credited as a mastermind of the RT project, which U.S. officials have accused of disseminating Kremlin "propaganda." The network has consistently responded to such criticism by saying it provides an alternative perspective to global events.

The founder of Video International, one of Russia's largest advertising firms, Lesin served as press minister during Russian President Vladimir Putin's first term, when he played a central role in cementing state control over the independent television channel NTV.

He went on to serve as a Kremlin adviser during Putin's second term and was dismissed from that post in 2009 by then-President Dmitry Medvedev.

Lesin has headed Gazprom-Media, the country's largest media holding, since October 2013.

One of the wilder rumors over the past 18mo. has to be that Lesin was bludgeoned to death in that D.C. hotel room (paid for by DoJ) by Putin goons desperate to reclaim a signed copy of Trump/Putin US Election plans which Mikhail Lesin purportedly smuggled in his possession and hid in a bank safe deposit box in the D.C. area.  It follows that the goons didn't get the contents of the box and left Lesin for dead.  Mueller supposedly did get the box.  Obviously wild speculation, but then that was a very high stakes bit of wet work Putin likely ordered on our soil.

If evidence in the Rosneft stock sale story is about to blow up in public, look out.  Been waiting on this for over a year.

So since Trump couldn't deliver on the lifting of sanctions,  neither the Russian oil company nor Qatar came out a head on this, right? But Trump saying fuck the Iranian agreement means that Russian Oil should make bank now since there is less competition, right? Maybe that is why nobody could persuade Trump to change his mind, (not even his best bro Macron)no matter what they proposed. Today Bolten said this:

John R. Bolton, the national security adviser, said on Sunday that European officials should have known that President Trump would withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal, despite months of negotiations to salvage the accord that they believed had brought them close to satisfying the president’s demands.

“Despite the complete consistency of President Trump in his opposition to the deal — opposed to it as candidate Trump, opposed to it as President-elect Trump, opposed to it as President Trump — many people, including apparently former Secretary of State John Kerry, thought that we never would get out of it,” Mr. Bolton said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

He also said that "it's possible" there will be secondary sanctions imposed on European companies as a result of the US withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal. Bolton didn't rule out sanctions for European companies doing business with Iran.

This was part of Putin's plan all along. Everything Trump said on the campaign trail and the stuff he has kept his promise about has been to benefit Russia. So the tariffs and the trade war with China does too. Trump really is a Manchurian candidate. Fucking traitor.

What recourse do the European countries have? They are going to be strong armed into following us so Russia gets what they want.

A more isolated and paranoid Iran means “the Russians gain geostrategically,” said Reza Marashi, the research director at the National Iranian American Council and a former State Department official.

The United States, he added, is helping reinforce a perception that the Russians want to strengthen: that today Washington may hold sway in the southern half of the Middle East, but the north ― including key areas in Syria, Iraq, Iran and Turkey ― is under Moscow’s influence.

And that plays precisely into what Putin deeply desires ― to make Russia, 27 years after the fall of the Soviet Union, once again look like an equal to the U.S.

Hey Bolton, about the only thing Trump has been consistent at is lying.

That's a good find, Bongos.

I highly doubt that Avenatti is privy to information that Mueller's team doesn't already know. This is a high stakes matter that will have huge ramifications on our country's future. I would prefer that Mueller drive the narrative rather than a porn star's publicity seeking lawyer. I don't question Mueller's motivations, but Avenatti's motivations I"m less comfortable with.

A few points on the topic:

1. Avenatti isn't the public's attorney, he's Stormy's.  That is both a confirmation of your concern (that he might screw up Mueller's case, or at least the public's perception of it) and a defense of him (he has to prioritize to Stormy over America.)  It's up to Mueller to keep him out of the way, either through legal action or by working with him.

2. His financial status is largely irrelevant.  He wants to get paid.  That'd be true if he has a few million in the red or in the black.  I guess timeline might be an issue, but I would imagine most of creditors would assume that he's going to get paid, by someone, eventually.

3. His public trolling has been effective in his case. He has gotten Donald to respond, publicly.  He has gotten Guiliani to respond publicly.  Those responses appear to have helped his case. He laid down some serious bait on Friday, and the Dotard has remained silent to it.  While I agree it's a bad idea to wrestle with the pig, Avenatti has proven to be an amazing pig wrestler.

4. I don't have to believe he's ultimately beneficial for the Mueller investigation to enjoy watching him work.  I absolutely agree with the caution about lionizing him as some hero.  But he's got some skills, and those are worth taking a moment to appreciate, while keeping them in their context.

5. While I do share the concern that he might either highlight something earlier than Mueller would like or claim something that might prove to be false, I think his impact on the process, so far, has been beneficial.  He is able to make an aggressive anti-Trump, anti-Cohen case without shackles.  Mueller says practically nothing at all and the Democrats say everything with an eye to their political impact.  This guy gives no fucks.  That gives him a lot of freedom.

The point, I think you miss it.

Avenatti isn’t a elected public official and he doesn’t work for a major media company.

He should be just as immune from character assassination and slut shaming as his client.

He’s in a unique position of power right now.

I'm on my mobile and can't  cut and paste. Avenatti addresses the folks calling him a porn star lawyer , he puts out a list to his results obtained as lead cousel. No PI awards on the list. I don't think he needs to explain himself and i hope he goes no farther with this. Take the list with a grain of salt but it looks impressive.

Avenatti purchased Tully's out of bankruptcy in 2013, in partnership with actor Patrick Dempsey, who is best known for his role as Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd in the TV show "Grey's Anatomy." Dempsey sued Avenatti in August 2013 to break off the partnership.

Or, like me, you might remember him best from his role as the geeky Ronald Miller in Can't Buy Me Love.

Hugo or someone please post. Cynthia Peet sent a tweet to Avenatti of a chart that shows The Rosnfelt Deal, actually in charts with one very detailed to show the Dec 2016 19.5% privitization deal with Glencore and QIA. It is also on medium.com. The person who posted it is Wendy Siegelman, so you should be able to find this using her name. She shows the source data used for the chart and it is a long list.  I'm blown away by what i see but admit I'm not great with flowcharts. It is very detailed and follows the money transactions, I think. Some of you smart motherfuckas need to help a girl out. The names of Wilbur Ross, Rudy Giuliani,  Rex Tillerson are on here as having parts in this deal, plus kushner and Tom Barrack.  WTF? This was created back in May 30th,2017. Her profile says she is an independent journalist for Guardian and Buzzfeed. Post it if  you can so we can review it.

The slate article by Jed handelsman shugerman called L'Affaire Kushner lays out the timeline and a key claim of the Steele dossier. It was published march 2nd, 2018. I think with this timeline and the charts, we can better see the quid pro quo. Russia oil money for policy change on sanctions. And Jared Kushner is going down hard. Mueller has to be done with this part of the investigation, don't  you think? He should just slam them for this bribery and fuck proving conspiracy or whatever. They are such crooked bastards that he could investigate forever.

You'll have to look for him, but this is Cohen related.
Key player: Ahmed Al-Rumaihi, who is in charge of a $100 billion division of Qatar Investment Authority.  There is additional reference to Jeff Kwatinetz, a friend of Steve Bannon's who filed a lawsuit against Ahmed Al-Rumaihi,

distilled tweets from bitcoin bro ed krassenstein:

_________________________________________________________________________________________

Kwatinetz is the co-founder of a professional basketball league called Big 3, along with entertainer Ice Cube. Kwatinetz, in sworn testimony earlier this month, claims that Al-Rumaihi failed to deliver on a $20 million investment into their league.

Kwatinetz claims that Al-Rumaihi, a little after his meeting with Trump at the White House, in which Trump suddenly flip-flopped his stance on a Qatar blockade, took him for a hike, and then tried to leverage his investment....

in Kwatinetz’s basketball league into political influence with Steve Bannon. When Kwatinetz told Al-Rumaihi that Bannon would never take that deal, Al-Rumaihi laughed and said, “do you think Michael Flynn turned down our money?”, implying that Flynn had accepted a bribe....

from Al-Rumaihi, for political influence. Al-Rumaihi apparently has been dealing with the Trump team since prior to Trump taking office. Why? What could they have possibly been discussing at Trump Tower on December 12 of 2016? Well, let’s take a look back at the Steele Dossier.

The Steele Dossier claims that Trump aide Carter Page, on July 7 or 8 of 2016, had agreed to a deal on Trump’s behalf in which the brokerage of up to a 19% sale in Russian State oil giant Rosneft were to be given to Trump if Sanctions against the company were lifted.

This means that Trump would be given a percentage (unknown number) of any sale in which 19% of the company would be sold. Considering that the market value of 19% of Rosneft today is approximately $13 billion, a commission on the sale could be between $300M-$1 Billion.

Additionally Michael Cohen allegedly played a large role as well. (screenshot of Steel Dossier excerpt)

What is very interesting, is that on December 7, 2016 (5 months after the Carter Page agreement) and just 5 days before Qatar Investment head, Al-Rumaihi was at Trump Tower with Michael Cohen and Michael Flynn, Russia announced the sale of a 19.5% stake in Rosneft to....

Qatar Investment Authority and Glencore Plc. Glencore then sold their share to Qatar Investment Auth.

Then the day after Al Rumaihi visited Trump Tower (December 13, 2016) Jared Kushner met with the Chief Executive of Vnesheconombank, a Russian state-owned bank, Sergey Gorkov.

To me, this puzzle is almost complete. Trump was going to fulfill his end of the bargain, by trying to remove crippling sanctions on Russia, which hurt Rosneft, and in return would receive a huge some of money...

from the commission of the sale of the 19-19.5% stake in Russian state-run oil giant, Rosneft. The deal was agreed upon on July 7/8, 2016 (Carter Page)...

reached on December 7th (Russia announced the sale), Al-Rumaihi (the buyer) met with Trump, Cohen and Flynn on December 12, and the seller (Russia) met with Jared Kushner on December 13.

If you can’t see this conspiracy, you are blinded by your support of Trump. The Trump team actually may have been the middle-man for this $13 billion deal it appears. (END)

Looks for all the world that Avenatti has the goods on the motherload of Trump/Putin bribery and treason that many of us have 'known' about for over a year.

Another important person not mentioned with first hand personal interactions with the players in this massive conspiracy ?  Jeff Sessions.

reminder* that Mike Flynn has pleaded guilty and is bound to full ongoing cooperation with not just Mueller, but all federal and state level officials whose investigations involve Mike Flynn.

Mueller is clearly pursuing a large criminal conspiracy combined with financial crimes.

All the reports from what he's looking at points to conspiracy and money.

This needs to be exposed and punished so it never happens again.

The indictments will probably not be counterintelligence related (esiponage/seditious conspiracy) but it's a counterintelligence investigation first and foremost.

You don't think if he slams the door on Kush right now before all the pieces are in place that Trump wouldn't immediately move to dismantle the investigation? One should not jeopardize a complex investigation to scoop up mid level fish. Kush will get his in good time, but you better be ready to shoot all the bullets when that happens, otherwise Team Trump will go into overdrive protection mode and make things very difficult.

Y'all realize that won't be enough for the GOP to actually do anything, right?  I mean, this is actually going to be (fuck, it already is) their rationale: "It's not treason!  It's just naked bribery!"  And apparently, presidents get a pass for that now.  The only thing that can get a president removed from office will be pure, unadulterated treason.  Simply putting the interests of other countries ahead of ours because you were paid to do so....well, that's just bidness folks.

Like Nixon in Watergate, it seems reasonable to believe Trump could be named as an unindicted co-conspirator when his subordinates get indicted for conspiracy to defraud the United States.

Assuming something like that happens.

I'm increasingly thinking Trump being forced to resign is where we're headed first.  This would be dependent on Avenatti continuing his dangerous advance.  If he produces prima facie evidence of the scale of corruption Trump Co is involved in, which is exactly what he is teasing out right now, what will it take to blow the lid off of public perception into national outrage?  A blackmail video or two sourced from foreign intel would probably do it.  It's been long rumored that there is a vid of a female (minor) being beaten and raped.  I can envision  a scenario where such a video released in isolation could be attacked as fake etc.  and he doesn't budge.  It's going to take a goddamn multi-vectored earthquake-tsunami-avalanche to launch his ass out.

I've answered this question before: nothing.  Nothing will cause the GOP to change course, because nothing will cause their Trumpkin base to change course.

There could be video of Trump handing Putin the nuclear codes and accepting a stack of gold bars as payment, and it won't matter.  Gods can do no wrong.  The base is his, no matter what.  And the base is big enough to control the GOP.  And thus the GOP congress will do nothing.  Game over.

An abortion would actually be worse than this to his base.

The only thing missing is Alan Dershowitz blathering on Fox News that the President can’t violate the Emoluments Clause because it appears in Article I.

the only way to change this shitshow is to have a bloodbath in November. if Dems gain control of House and Senate or if almost every one of Trump's candidates are soundly rejected, the remaining Repubs will get the picture and move forward with getting rid of this clown.

Trump bitching about leaks after reading the article Avenatti posted. Ha Avenatti is so in his head right now. The dude is freaked out, especially since Mueller is so tight lipped and meththodical.

My guess is that it is more related to the McCain "he's dying anyway" leak.  If midlevel staff in the WH knows about the shit Avenatti is posting about, Trump would already be cooked.

For what it's worth, the McCain "he's dying anyone" thing is a non-story to me.  Yeah, he is dying.  It's not something you say in public, and they didn't.  Not seeing why that gets press while other shit is ignored. (Other than the press are lazy, money-grubbing whores who focus on the drama more than facts.)

We get it.  You've said it.  And nobody gives a shit about your faux apocalyptic viewpoint.

What gives pause is the record number of GOP Congressional incumbents in Congress who are quitting -- just coldly walking away.  Something else is afoot and is overriding confidence in the collective base phenomenology.

Could be a pipe dream, but if there's a raft of sealed indictments targeting GOP/ members in Congress for accepting laundered rubles (there was a quadruple rate in sealed indictments in the DC court for a week or so right after Manafort/Gates indictments), it might sufficiently jar the establishment that those untouched in Congress act.  Similarly, a Shock and Awe legal event could produce enough arrests in relation to Russia conspiracy that Trump attempting mass pardons, including of those closest to him, would simply not be a viable option.  Uncharted waters.

This gets back to the question about Paul Ryan announcing he wasn't running again 2 days after Cohen was raided.
