I like it. His versatility will be an asset. Can play him in LF, Yordan at DH, and Yuli at 1B if Yuli keeps hitting well.

  • This postseason has become more sentimental for me and my wife's family.  My father in law is the biggest Astros fan I know.  He watches every game without fail, even DVRing them if he can't watch liv

We've discussed how the Crawford Boxes generally benefit lefties because opposite field shots go out instead of being lazy flyballs. But Mancini may see quite a benefit:

I like it.  He can play both OF and 1B.  Basically, Chas, Jake, Siri, Yuli - death match for playing time/playoff roster.  Kick ass or die. Pretty big motivation.

If he is a dead pull hitter.  The power alley in left eats up a lot of homers, so it ends up being a wash.

I like it too. Good positional flexibility.

Sounds erotic.....

Baltimore moved their left field wall back and raised it this year. It obviously had a big affect on his numbers. The Crawford boxes will look like he can reach out and touch them. And I think he will. Over and over.

Mancini was my first choice before Baltimore started winning and I didn’t think they would move him then I switched to Bell. But hell. Why not both?

Really curious who the "multiple pitching prospects" are. It won't be Brown. Odo isn't a prospect. Maybe Whitley?

Yes so let’s get Vasquez and Bell now right!???

I think Mancini is a great get, as long as we didn't have to give too much.

His contract has a mutual option for next season also.

No on Bell. He would be totally redundant.

Mancini has a player/team option for $10 million in 2023. That could become increasingly reasonable if he plays well down the stretch.

Unless he wants more.

Siri gone!

Rays really needed a center fielder

Is that part of Mancini, or someone else?

They aren't going to platoon. Mancini will play 1B against RHP and the OF against LHP. The platoon will be between the LF against RHP and Yuli. I'd still get Happ. Who can play LF against RHP and CF against LHP.

If we basically traded Siri for Mancini, I'm good with that

Interesting. I wonder if the Rays are sending the pitching prospects to complete the deal.

Hou:  IN - Mancini OUT - Siri

TB - IN - Siri OUT - pitching prospects

BAL - IN - pitching prospects OUT - Mancini

He can strikeout and strut somewhere else.  That’s good value for him imo.

Siri had uses in the postseason, but Mancini is much more useful.  That's a nice trade.

Rays are DFA’ing Brett Phillips to make room on roster for Siri. Wow. I remember when Phillips was highly thought of

Would have been nice to have had Siri in the playoffs, but I guess this means...

the Nats are willing to trade us Soto without him!!!

The 27 Tampa fans are gonna enjoy Siri swinging like a crazy person in the playoffs.  McDermott has a 5.50 era and a whip of 1.39 so I'm guessing he has pretty good stuff but no control.  He was a college player, so at some point you gotta just be able to throw strikes.

This is an encouraging development for page 300. I take that as a sign Mancini will get hot and hit .300 for us through the playoffs.

I just read a recent prospect article for 40 man roster crunches. Murray was on that list as a must add for Tampa. Makes sense why they traded him.

If that's the whole deal, and we only have up Siri, we won that deal.

If there is concern about Brantley, you can still go get Bell. Contreras or Vasquez should still be on the table too.

That's a great deal, if that's it's final form. Per Fangraphs, McDermott is a 40 and Murray a 40+ - so they swapped one pitching prospect for another that is roughly equal, maybe better. So they basically traded Siri for Mancini straight up. That's a win.
