Rex, I don't think you're ready. You may need to call a doctor after seeing so many protesters get teakettled and stormtrooper'd

This show is so fucking good. The Ghorman massacre, the bullshit Imperial cover story, Syril realizing she lied to him, watching in horror and then going after Cassian. And we got a nod to Mon's Rebels speech. And thank the Maker that Gilroy gets how to write the Force. That's how it's done. It's not the prequels bullshit. It's mystical and he finally brought it back to that. Poor Eedy. Sitting there hoping for news about Syril. Was the Senator who spoke of one of their own being killed talking about Syril? Ghorman was shades of Les Miserables. Gilroy is big into the French resistance.

Ordered Rogue One on 4K blu-ray. It arrives in a few days. That's my next day viewing next Wednesday.

The Andor series in the Disney era has never shied away from brutality. If there is one story to highlight this type of evil that bolsters the SW rebellion, it’s this series and I think they can pull it off because of what they’ve already done previously. Cassian blatantly shooting guys point blank (the first episode of Andor set the tone well), the psychological horror of Bix having to listen to the sounds of the massacred Dizonites, even the Vader scene at the end of Rogue One, which is obviously connected to Andor, and so on. Showing the Ghorman massacre can really elevate this show to a new territory for SW, while also adding depth to the OT in particular.

Well, it wasn’t the Ghorman massacre with Tarkin but episode 8 was a slam dunk. Just brutal all the way around. Episode 9 was masterfully written and kept me on the edge of my seat even though there was less action. Mothma’s speech!

This 3 episode arc is going to go down as some of the best Star Wars and Gilroy has definitely elevated this show to fuckin top. IMG_3148.jpeg.1c57ed99e996da0b1beec5d51ff0bf99.jpeg

I don’t really know what to say. I’m going to have to watch it again tomorrow to fully understand what I just watched. This is a fucking masterpiece!!

It really is impressive the fidelity that Gilroy has brought to a dyed in the wool story about revolution. It's wonderful that the show isn't just action or drama, they're woven together beautifully and pays off long running threads very satisfyingly.

I can't wait to see how Dedra works out in 1BBY. That scene with Syril and her in the ISB headquarters was some WILD shit, it really effected her and did something to who she is

We still have to see how the Rebellion finds out about the Death Star. I'd assume Lonni and Luthen are the final piece but that brings about their ending. I bet Dedra sniffs them out and her reward is prime placement on the Death Star.

Next week might be the Luthen show. Feels like everyone has gotten their moment while Luthen has been acting as the conductor. It’s time for him to turn to the crowd and take a bow.

I agree. His backstory might be a whole episode by itself

I would have ended the Episode 9 with Bix’s speech. K-2SO could have waited until next week.

Disagree. You need to give him something at his lowest point when he's lost the one thing that kept him going. And we know that's a massive gift and important to the cause.

I haven't bought a resource book since Rogue One. I will definitely buy one for this series if Lucasfilm publishes one.

Forgot to add earlier, the K2 eyeing Syril was so damn scary. Like it was sizing up how to kill him the fastest. All the other units were looking ahead.

Diego Luna is going to win an Oscar. What he can he do with just facial expressions is elite.

It feels like Andor Season 2 will get him the Emmy he should have won for Narcos: Mexico.

Genevieve O’Reilly should win one for episode 9

That may have been the best arc in Star Wars…

Holy crap.

I like the subtle Gold squadron and Phoenix escort that Mon Mothma gets.

BBY 1 is going to be a long week wait. Luthen has to have his backstory/finale and Cassian’s struggle with Spy(cutthroat) vs Soldier(Captain Andor)…

Sheesh that was amazing

Oh and Cassians “who are you?!?”

Jesus Christ. I just finished 8. I need to take a breather before 9. That was... well, I've been crying and I'm a complete fucking mess. Holy shit.

An entire year goes by before Ep. 10 and they are already doing buddy capers, so they had to show it in 9 or not show it at all.

Lol he got the disrespected ending appropriate for his life. Too bad Cassian didn’t snipe his nazi girlfriend first.

We know Mon and Cassian are gonna make it out, yet the sequence of them escaping the senate is still absolutely gripping. That’s great fucking TV.

Bix’s message made sense but have to assume Luthen (and Vel) got to her to make sure Andor stayed in the fold. I’m very curious what Bix’s part to play will be in the final three eps.

I'd be surprised if we see her again. Makes his sacrifice in Rogue One even more tragic. He fulfilled his destiny, but, in doing so, she'll never know about it, and she'll never find him. Seems like the fitting end to their story.

Yep. I think we’ll see her in some final montage in Episode 12 looking up at the sky or something, but that’s it.

I have a called shot for next week

Spoiler

The kalkite won't work for the Death Star focusing lens and they'll need to keep looking and eventually land on Khyber. The tragedy of Ghorman will be for nothing but the hubris of a wasteful and fascist empire

Man the next morning and I'm still buzzing, that was one hell of a trio of episodes

I’m rewatching them tonight before the Stars game. I know there are so many little details that I missed simply because my mind was blown the entire time.

Was the kalkite for a lens? I thought it was an energy source (maybe to get the Death Star to light speed?), and the khyber crystals are to generate the laser, but I'm only a 7/10 on sw nerd scale.

I think it’s the realization that she’s been feeling… Cassian’s purpose is most important.

She told him in the last arc that if they are doing all of this, suffered all of this, walking the moral knife’s edge… she wants to win.

She realizes that he, at that moment, is wavering on winning. He just wants to quit and walk away. She doesn’t want that at all.

The whole scene with Bix and the force healer and telling her Cassian is a messenger and has a higher purpose was so so so so well done.

The imps said they needed the Kalkite for coating "reactor lenses", the scene is used in two of the three "previously on" bits. My thinking is that we know Kyber is used as the focusing lens in a lightsaber to make the blade, and we also know they're able to handle the immense output from the main reactor of the Death Star.

Gilroy really knows how to bring the Force back to what it was in the OT. A mystical energy field that's a religion to some. The healer, the Force monks on Jedha, I am one with the Force and the Force is with me. I was wondering if the healer was also reaching out to Andor with the Force memories of Marva and Brasso. Like the visions Rey saw in The Force Awakens.

Loved the whole notion that

Spoiler

Andor's only previous experience with the Force was through a scammer who had no ability, and even that was second-hand.

I mean it would be dumb to even entertain midichlorians since the empire has destroyed any resemblance of the Jedi order. The average person wondering the galaxy pre-empire probably never fully understood what the Jedi were all about. Combine that with what the empire did to the Jedi and you get what Han says in ANH.

Well I'd argue the midichlorians was a dumb revision of the Force by George in general but that's for a different nerd thread.
