Gary Numan at Empire Garage last night. He always puts on a good show.

I do wonder how many 60-something fans of his 70/80s music finally come to a show and wonder how they ended up at a nine inch nails concert.

I will continue to track down Je'Texas and see their shows while they are still around.  The three of them are a perfect match... Dylan's genius combined with the absolute perfection of Gian and Damien holding down the rhythm section.  I swear these three are time travelers from 1969.

Dumb Austin parking question amnesty, plz.

We're going to see Lord Huron at the Moody on Thursday, and this is the first time I've ever paid for VIP anything.  We get access to enter at 5p.

I reserved parking at Garage R over by Scholz, but it doesn't officially start until 5p.  My preference would be to get there early and get something to eat /drink at Scholz, then walk over to the venue by 5p.

Will I be able to enter the garage between say 3-4p, or is it all state employee access until then?  Do I need a different plan?

It should be evident I haven't lived in Austin in a long time.

Same here

Didn't we determine you were a few rows behind my wife and I at the Wilco show (I think it was Wilco) at Toyota some months ago?

Nope. I wasn’t at that show.

Nation of Language last night at The Studio at the Bomb Factory. They were on fucking fire.

Guess y’all tuned them up pretty good the night before at The Mohawk because they said they were really impressed with the Texas crowds about halfway thru the set. If you’re in Houston and on the fence on tonight’s show, just go.

Had zero idea they were from the US (Brooklyn). I have just assumed they were from Britain. Very 80’s/New Order vibe but I read about their Krautrock adjacency and now I can’t unhear it.

The chick in the band seems pretty cute.

I was probably standing 6 feet to your left. Friend texted me that morning had an extra ticket; I was pleasantly surprised. Their music has much more energy live than on the album.

Wow, saw that The Revivalists are playing Stubbs tonight.  Think I am going to go down and grab a ticket.  Looks like a solo trip though...  As wife and usual buddies are a no go.

With the weather nice, should be a nice show.

Lord Huron show was pretty spectacular.

I enjoyed the show but as I watched it I was thinking “how do I describe this to my wife?” She always asks me about the concerts.

Two adjectives came to mind: theatrical and pretentious.

A few songs later, the lead singer calls himself a pretentious asshole. Points for self awareness.

They put a lot of work into the concept and execution of their show. It is a show.

that's funny.  i hung out with them after acl 10 or so years ago at a friends house and they were the farthest thing from that at the time.  really nice dudes with no ego.

When did you arrive/how close to the front were you? We're going Thursday so just curious how early/late arriving the crowd was up front

My wife and I really wanted to see Kevin Morby open so we were there around 7:45. Morby went on at 8. I think he's doing the Houston show too. He only played for half an hour and was off the stage at 8:30. Lord Huron came on at 9:05. The pit area at Toyota Music Factory can be very small. It was last night. We were only about three "rows" deep and decided we'd stay there until we didn't want to any longer. (We stayed there the entire show.) Maybe catch the beginning of Lord Huron and move back a bit. Not sure what the setup will be in Houston.

Oh, it's a scene alright. We enjoyed it. They couldn't get into most of the theater stuff when we saw them headline at High Water Fest back in April. Great show but it was "just the songs." I thought the visual aspects of the show were spectacular. Had kind of Fallout Pacific Northwest feel to it. They played a terrific set and this is easily in my top 10 shows of the year, maybe top five -- though that's getting a little crowded as we get to the end of the year and we've got Luna in early December.

We're going to the Austin show at Moody Center. Front half of the floor is GA, Back half seated. Looks like tickets are only barely half-sold, too

I bedazzled my power dome for the Devo show in ATX on 11/1.
This fucker is heavy. I'll have to get another dome as my daily wearer.91d207cb18d49b9a68895faa3ce7475e.jpg

I was let down by Morby. I wanted to hear Dorothy. I grade each band I see. He ranks as a “no” for future shows.

They're so good.  That clip of them singing to EmmyLou always brings the allergies.

Only playing 30 minutes seemed strange. The sound was horrific for him. I thought at the time that maybe we were too close to the stage but Lord Huron sounded perfect there. It just wasn’t set up for him. I’d like to see him in a smaller venue as the headliner where it would better translate.
