Pronounced Kiwi?

No, the "e" is silent so it's pronounced like this: "Brown."

Oh, wait, his FIRST name. Gotcha. If it's a Hawaiian / Polynesian pronunciation it's "Kay-AH-vay"

2026 Top247 Rankings: Rolling out the 32-player 5-star field in advance of commitment season
For now, these are the 32 5-star prospects in the class of 2026.
Andrew Ivins

With summer commitment season rapidly approaching, and a good chunk of the offseason camp circuit already in the books, it's time to introduce the 32 players from the class of 2026 who we think have the best chance right now of eventually emerging as first-round picks in the NFL Draft.

Is the list perfect? No. Are changes going to happen? Yes. But after spending the past year and a half studying this class, the top of the board materializes into focus.

When we first decided two years ago to change course and name 32 five-stars in advance of senior seasons, we were nervous about how things would play out. After all, the evaluations were far from complete. But the first-of-its-kind exercise has only helped dial in our process and force us to invest more time and resources into learning about these players from a young age.

Again, expect plenty of movement in the rankings before things finalize in January, but this is how we stack and rack what we believe is the best of the best as recruiting classes start to take shape.

1. QB Faizon Brandon (Tennessee commit)

Brandon is a box-checking quarterback with the arm talent and dual-threat athleticism to light up scoreboards on Saturdays and Sundays. He showed much more pocket command as a junior and owns an elite statistical profile: He's posted a 29-1 record and a Top247-best 72.5 completion rate the past two seasons at Greensboro (N.C.) Grimsley. Brandon was named "Alpha Dog" of the Navy All-American Combine and will compete at next month's Elite 11 Finals.

2. EDGE Zion Elee (Maryland commit)

Elee is a supercharged pass rusher who tormented blue-chip offensive linemen at both the Under Armour All-America Game and Polynesian Bowl in January. His 10-foot, 5-inch effort in the broad jump ranks among the freakier things we have seen in the cycle. Elee is a bit narrow, but he's got long leavers and is well-versed in hand-to-hand combat. He racked up 10 sacks and 28 tackles for loss as a junior at Baltimore St. Frances Academy.

3. QB Keisean Henderson (Houston commit)
Henderson is a top-flight athlete for the position and oozes with confidence. He made major technical strides as a passer during his 11th-grade campaign at Spring (Texas) Legacy and parlayed that into an MVP performance at the Navy All-American Bowl. Henderson has the speed to beat defenders to the edge, but he wants to win through the air and has showcased the ability to fire absolute dimes into tight coverage windows.

4. WR Tristen Keys (LSU commit)

Keys is a potential game-wrecker on the outside with high-end ball skills that mirror those of CeeDee Lamb. A three-level separator who averaged 21.9 yards per catch this past fall for a Hattiesburg program that played for a Mississippi Class 6A championship, Keys can eat up cushion with his lanky stride before breaking off defensive backs with sudden cuts. He has the bounce to make acrobatic grabs look almost routine and is surprisingly shifty in traffic.

5. OT Felix Ojo

Ojo is a lean and flexible corner protector with the reactionary skills required to match and mirror twitched-up defensive ends. He was one of the most aggressive players during practices for the Navy All-American Bowl despite being one of the youngest juniors in attendance. Ojo has continued to improve his hand placement while at Mansfield (Texas) Lake Ridge and has a chance to one day defend the left side of the line for a pro organization if he keeps progressing.

6. OT Keenyi Pepe (USC commit)

Pepe is a towering offensive tackle who carries 320 pounds like it's 280 pounds. He continues the strong lineage of can't-miss offensive linemen to come out of Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy. Pepe's tape might lack sizzle, but as games progress he wears down assignments with his heavy punch and a suffocating lean. The pass sets remain a work in progress, but he's got the kick slide and quickness to morph into a trusted bouncer on a quarterback's blind side.

7. DL Lamar Brown

Brown is a tricky evaluation that we have zigged and zagged on in the rankings, but we're all in after a dominating performance at a recent Under Armour camp in New Orleans. In our eyes, Brown possesses Day 1 upside as a defensive and offensive lineman. Colleges seem to view the Baton Rouge (La.) University Lab product the same way, too. He shoots up the board with his rare big-man movement skills and holds a defensive positional tag, for now.

8. LB Xavier Griffin (USC commit)

Griffin is a multifaceted, front-seven defender who reminds us of Jihaad Campbell. Griffin has rushed primarily from a two-point stance at Gainesville (Ga.) High and has had plenty of success hounding quarterbacks, but his ability to stack against the run while also hanging in space suggests that he could also settle in as an off-ball linebacker. Griffin will need to add some bulk to his frame, but his downhill charge and change-of-direction proficiency are top-notch.

9. QB Jared Curtis (Georgia commit)

Curtis meshes a high floor with a high ceiling. His smooth mechanics accompany a prototypical build and slick pressure-evading athleticism. Curtis lit up a lower level of competition as a junior at Nashville (Tenn.) Christian, passing for 2,830 yards with 40 touchdowns and only three interceptions. He added 637 yards and 18 more scores on the ground. Curtis is the type of quarterback who can thrive in a timing-based system with his ball placement.

10. OT Jackson Cantwell (Miami commit)

Cantwell is the son of two former Olympic throwers and a decorated track and field athlete himself with a near-perfect 99 explosion score according to NextGen Prospects. The pancake merchant has bulldozed inferior opponents from a left tackle perch at Nixa (Mo.) and shined as a down blocker. Cantwell will need to learn how to deter all the speed he will face in the coming years, but the best-in-breed physical tools suggest that he can anchor any starting five.

11. WR Cederian Morgan

Morgan is quickly making a case for the No. 1 spot on the annual Freaks List after he cleared 6 feet, 8 inches in the high jump and ran a wind-aided 21.74-second 200-meter dash at Alabama's 6A track meet. A jumbo-sized pass catcher who's a matchup nightmare in the slot with his size-speed combination, Morgan hauled in 70 passes for 1,162 yards and 14 touchdowns as a junior at Benjamin Russell. He could unlock any passing attack with his hands and burst.

12. Safety Bralan Womack

Womack is tracking to be the best safety prospect to emerge since Caleb Downs, whom he happens to idolize. He's a high-IQ defender with man-coverage chops who's always in the right place at the right time. After earning Gatorade Player of the Year honors in Mississippi, the three-phase impact player at Flowood Hartfield Academy was one of the most consistent defenders during practices for the Navy All-American Bowl. Womack should be ready to go Year 1.

13. QB Ryder Lyons

Lyons is an energetic signal-caller with a true gunslinger mentality who likes to embrace chaos. He's below 6-foot-3 but owns ready-to-play mass and is thick through the core. Lyons has gone 24-4 as the starter at Folsom (Calif.) High and led multiple game-winning drives in the postseason. He can get caught doing a little too much at times, but he has the tools to win on Saturdays and potentially Sundays. A mission trip looms before he starts college.

14. CB Jorden Edmonds (Alabama commit)

Edmonds is a height/weight/speed cornerback who is rounding into form. He hasn't produced a ton of takeaways to date, but that's in large part because he hasn't seen a ton of targets come his way at Marietta (Ga.) Sprayberry. The long-limbed Edmonds tested in the upper percentiles a few months ago and has impressed in best-on-best settings, fueled by his overall competitive temperament as he fights to maintain phase with his hands and is quick to flip the hips.

15. EDGE Rodney Dunham (Notre Dame commit)

Dunham could fit into an odd or even front, but might be best suited for a hand-in-the-dirt role. He launches out of his stance and can bend while turning the corner. A knee injury in the final game of his junior season is not ideal, but the two-sport standout at Charlotte (N.C.) Myers Park possesses the reach and get-off to be a pest for a College Football Playoff contender with further physical maturation. Dunham has racked up 36 pressures and 12 sacks in 21 varsity outings.

16. IOL Darius Gray

Gray is an athletic trench bully who can play all five spots on the offensive line. While he's quick and agile enough to hang on the perimeter in pass protection, his future is more than likely on the interior as he pins and pulls with authority. A double-double machine on the hardwood for Richmond (Va.) St. Christopher's School the past three winters, Gray's iron man-like motor allows him to bring it all four quarters as he climbs to the second level and engages opponents.

17. RB Savion Hiter

Hiter is a potential every-down workhorse with his speed, power, balance and vision. He charges forward with a full head of steam and almost never goes down at the first sign of contact as he thrashes his way through tacklers. Hiter averaged 10.8 yards per carry as an 11th-grader at Mineral (Va.) Louisa County, where he showcased three-down competency as he chipped defenders and moved the chains on wheel routes. We see another Omarion Hampton.

18. Safety Jett Washington

Washington is a physical specimen with rare size and range who could be positioned over the top and in the box and slot. He has improved as an open-field tackler since he first emerged on the scene at Las Vegas Bishop Gorman and will hit like a missile if the opportunity presents itself. Washington might not be the most fluid in his transitions, but he can erase false steps with his recovery speed and blanket the catch point like few others with his length.

19. OT Gabriel Osenda (Tennessee commit)

Osenda has gone from a three-star projection to a five-star projection in a little under six months. The Canadian import is a gigantic human who's tailor made for a zone attack with his initial side quickness and downhill force. He isn't a natural bender per se, but he can gain depth and extend the arc with a brawny upper half. Osenda, who is boarding at Chattanooga (Tenn.) The Baylor School, is similar to Aireontae Ersery — a recent Day 2 pick out of Minnesota.

20. LB Tyler Atkinson

Atkinson is a highly-productive inside linebacker that can be the soul of a defense with his instincts and athleticism. He has played a violent brand of football ever since he earned a starting role as a freshman at Logansville (Ga.) Grayson and will unload with plenty of force when he meets a ball carrier in the hole or flats. Atkinson is more than capable of getting home on the blitz and has also proven to be an effective spy as he cuts down escape angles.

21. WR Calvin Russell

Russell is a potential WR1 who's had to play some quarterback for Miami Northwestern. He towers over his peers with a frame that's north of 6-foot-5 and pairs it with some unexpected suddenness for someone of his stature. Russell is still piecing it all together and will need to keep fine-tuning his craft, but he's a one-of-a-kind athlete with a monster catch radius. He's also being recruited by Michigan and other high-majors to play college basketball.

22. IOL Immanuel Iheanacho

Iheanacho is a wide and powerful offensive lineman who's believed to be tipping the scales at right around 350 pounds. He should offer tackle-guard versatility at the next level and looked much more comfortable working on the inside at the Under Armour All-America Game. Icheanacho needs technical refinement, but the flashes at North Bethesda (Md.) Georgetown Prep are extremely encouraging. Plus, he has no shortage of developmental upside given how he moves.

23. EDGE Tristian Givens

Givens is a linear pass rusher with some explosive takeoffs. He began his prep career at Columbus (Ga.) Carver playing wide receiver but started getting looks on defense midway through his sophomore season and has totaled 30 sacks in roughly two dozen games. Givens lacks polish at this juncture, but he can go from speed to power with ease and will hawk down running backs in backside pursuit with an exceptional gap-closing gear.

24. QB Dia Bell (Texas commit)

Bell was the Gatorade Player of the Year in Florida this past season. He's a crafty quarterback with a well-rounded game who has improved in every key statistical category while running the show the past two seasons at Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage. Bell isn't one to flinch in the face of pressure; he gets out of trouble and keeps his eyes down field. His junior spray chart is full of impressive deep shots where he looks off coverages and hits targets in stride.

25. Athlete Jermaine Bishop

Bishop has a chance to go down as Greater Houston's all-time leading receiver after catching 164 passes for 2,981 yards and 35 touchdowns the past two years at Willis. He's listed as an athlete because some colleges like him as a defensive back, but he's got the juice to be a game-changing slot receiver with his magician-like ball skills and make-you-miss agility. Everyone is searching for the next two-way star after Travis Hunter. Bishop might be it.

26. Safety Jireh Edwards

Edwards is a chess piece of a defensive back who could be aligned in a variety of different ways. He already owns ready-to-play size and might grow into more of a box defender at some point down the line, but he's sticky in man coverage and has made a number of jaw-dropping pass breakups over the years at Baltimore St. Frances Academy. He doesn't have the same multi-sport profile as Malaki Starks, but Edwards offers similar versatility and playmaking ability.

27. CB Chauncey Kennon

Kennon is an aggressive cover corner with the length, speed, and physicality to shadow top offensive weapons. He isn't afraid to take risks and bait quarterbacks into bad decisions. Kennon has also had plenty of success as an open-field tackler, which is encouraging for someone who could frequently live on an island. The Sarasota (Fla.) Booker standout won a district title in the 100-meter dash and a county championship in the 200-meter dash this spring.

28. EDGE Trenton Henderson

There aren't as many data points available on Henderson compared to some of the others in the inaugural five-star field, but the game footage paints the picture of a havoc-creating pass rusher who's comfortable dropping into space. Henderson has assaulted pockets primarily from a two-point stance at Pensacola (Fla.) Central Catholic, mixing jolting first-step quickness with quarterback-crunching physicality. He's what teams want in a modern 3-4 linebacker.

29. Athlete Brandon Arrington

Arrington is the fastest sprinter in the class. He went to 20.35 seconds in the 200-meter dash earlier this year to set the meet record at the Arcadia Invitational, which was previously held by Olympian Noah Lyles. A two-way player at Spring Valley (Calif.) Mount Miguel, who reps at both cornerback and wide receiver, Arrington is still relatively green as a football player, but he's got the juice and frame to blossom into a difference-maker on either side of the ball.

30. Safety Joey O'Brien

O'Brien is a wiry 6-foot-4 ballhawk who jumps routes like few others his age. Some recruiters have told him that he could play wide receiver for them after a junior campaign in which he set a school-record at Glenside (Pa.) La Salle College with 1,029 receiving yards and 12 touchdown catches. However, O'Brien's ceiling appears to be highest as a robber safety given how he affects passing lanes and creates turnovers. O'Brien might also be able to play cornerback in a pinch.

31. TE Mark Bowman

Bowman reclassified and moved from the 2027 class to 2026. There have been more horror stories than success stories with prospects who have elected to skip senior seasons, but Bowman has already played 20 varsity games in the esteemed Trinity League at Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei and is a new-age F tight end who can do a little bit of everything. He's a smooth route runner with soft hands and excels as both a move and in-line blocker.

32. DL Bryce Perry-Wright

Perry-Wright might not ever be a first-off-the-bus candidate, but he's a quick-twitched, inside-outside rusher who can constantly tax protection and make stops behind the line of scrimmage. A top performer with two pressures at the Navy All-American Bowl, the Buford (Ga.) star wins with fast hands and a motor that runs hot. Perry-Wright should push for playing time right away, much like Rueben Bain at Miami and Peter Woods at Clemson.

247Sports national scouting analysts Hudson Standish, Gabe Brooks, Greg Biggins, Cooper Petagna and Clint Brewster contributed to these rankings.

Right so we flip Henderson and then just drop bell? I don’t like hearing that part. Looks like a lot of our targets got some good bumps in rankings.

My Houston friends are telling me that Henderson is bought and paid for. Not saying it can't happen, just that it may be a tough row to hoe.

Ranked as a CB. Tons of production at WR. Just an awesome athlete, overall.

Here is a recent eval overview from Gabe Brooks at 247:

Spoiler

One of the best pure football players in the country, reflected by absurd production on both sides of the ball across multiple Texas 6A varsity seasons. Dynamic three-phase playmaker who lacks ideal measurables and frame specs, but possesses wiry tendon strength shown in ball skills, run-after-catch strength, and surprising striking power for such a lean cover man. Ball skills magician. Immense production at receiver: nearly 3,000 yards and 35 touchdowns in sophomore-junior seasons. Also recorded eight INTs and scored four non-offensive TDs in that span. Junior season revealed noticeable improvement in speed-changing nuance and general RAC ability. Accelerates well and has shown enhanced top-end speed year over year. Checks the multi-sport box with varsity basketball experience and junior high and freshman track and field reps. Clearly lacks mass and owns a narrow build that could limit bulking capacity. Past testing data suggests need for improved top-end gear, though functional field speed shows that. Legitimate candidate to play two-way snaps at the P4 level. High school profile similar to players such as Kamari Lassiter, Ladd McConkey, Jordan Addison, perhaps even Travis Hunter in recent years. Projects as a high-major impact player who could become an early-round draft candidate.

FOOTBALL
2024: As a junior, caught 83 passes for 1,565 yards and 18 TDs on 18.9 yards per reception. Also ran 6 times for 45 yards and 1 TD. Recorded 26 tackles, 3 INTs, 2 FF, and 6 pass breakups. Added 1 kick return TD.
2023: Texas District 13-6A Utility Player of the Year as a sophomore. Caught 80 passes for 1,414 yards and 17 TDs, while running for 384 yards and 7 TDs on nearly 15 yards per carry. Also recorded 37 tackles, 2 TFL, and 5 INTs, including 1 return TD. Added 1 KR TD on special teams.
2022: Texas District 13-6A Defensive Newcomer of the Year as a freshman. Recorded 49 tackles, 2 TFL, and 5 INTs (1 TD return). Got 5 offensive touches for 62 yards (4-60 rushing) and 1 TD. Averaged 21.2 yards on 17 kick return opportunities.
- Gabe Brooks

Also, former KSU QB and huge ass thorn in Texas’ backside, Michael Bishop, is his cousin.

Sounds like a huge get - the 247 guys, on the 5-star show, were very high on this guy, FWIW.

Here's Roach's note from earlier this morning.

New five-star Jermaine Bishop could be next to follow in Travis Hunter's two-way footsteps
Travis Hunter wasn't college football's first two-way player, but the class of 2022's No. 1 overall prospect took the country by storm this past year as he won the 2024 Heisman Trophy and was the 2025 NFL Draft's No. 2 pick. Jermaine Bishop, who is now a five-star, could be next to follow in Hunter's two-way footsteps.

Travis Hunter wasn't college football's first two-way player, but the class of 2022's No. 1 overall prospect took the country by storm this past year as he won the 2024 Heisman Trophy at Colorado and was the 2025 NFL Draft's No. 2 pick via the Jacksonville Jaguars. His success sheds a new light on high school players across the country, and Jermaine Bishop could be next to follow in his footsteps.

The newly-minted five-star athlete from Willis (Texas) High is a legitimate playmaker on both sides of the ball.

On defense, he's been known to shut down one side of the field, while on offense he's close to putting his name in the record books.

In fact, Bishop is 796 yards away from being the all-time receiving yards leader in Greater Houston. He's roughly 1,500 yards from landing in the all-time Texas high school football top 10.

Bishop had 1,414 yards as a sophomore, making plays for eventual Florida quarterback DJ Lagway, and he didn't miss a beat when Lagway left for college. As a junior, Bishop upped his production despite Lagway's departure to 1,565 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Over that time, Bishop established himself among the country's best pure football players and Lone Star State's must-see attraction. Taking inspiration from Hunter and other two-way stars who came before him, Bishop feels he can make a difference on both sides of the ball when he gets to the college level.

"Being able to watch Travis Hunter do that at the college level was great for me," Bishop said. "Now that people know that it's possible to do it, they know it can be done at that level. It was an eye-opening experience for the rest of the world."

Bishop holds 24 offers, and schools like Houston, Texas, Texas A&M and USC are standing out for him at the moment. Those programs are all recruiting him with the possibility of playing both offense and defense.

Editor's note: Bishop has since committed to Texas

Florida and Oklahoma are both in the picture, but those programs want Bishop on one side of the ball. While he's been adamant about playing both sides, Bishop admitted that if he had to focus on one position, it would be defensive back.

"If I had to shut it down and pick a side of the ball, it would probably be defense," Bishop said. "I really love shutting one whole side of the field down. Not just a person, but an entire side of the field.

"I keep a chip on my shoulder to be able to do that because playing DB is not easy. Being able to lock an entire side down and defend a guy not knowing what he's going to do next, I take a lot of pride in that."

Bishop currently has official visits set for USC (June 6), Houston (June 12) and Texas (June 20). He's still working on setting up other dates, but he doesn't seem to be in any sort of rush at the moment.

Get the latest football and basketball transfer portal news from 247Sports.

It's likely that Texas A&M will get a visit date while Oklahoma and Florida could gain trips as well. If a school wants to land Bishop, the opportunity to play on both sides of the ball will have to be part of the pitch.

Seems like this kind of came out of nowhere. Haven't heard much about him. Anybody got any details?

He's been leaning to us the whole time as far as I've seen, but had been flirting with TAMU, USC, and UH.

Awesome athlete and football player, incredibly skinny and slight frame. You're hoping that his insane production will still translate around bigger dudes at the college level.

Some very, very positive notes on Bishop.  Quite a combo of ability/potential/proven production in school

"Seismic addition for Texas."

"If you're looking for an impact level on a 1-10 scale, Bishop's commitment would be a 10, in our opinion. For programs competing on a national level, he represents a class-leading receiver or class-leading defensive back in our eyes."

" ... he was DJ Lagway's top target in Fall 2023, and his receiving statistics (receptions, yards, TDs) slightly increased in Fall 2024. Pretty impressive considering the change of QB."

"One of the best pure football players in the country, reflected by absurd production on both sides of the ball across multiple Texas 6A varsity seasons."

Seismic addition for Texas. Obviously we're much higher on Bishop than the rest of the industry, and the varying opinions are understandable given the concerns with frame width, bulking capacity, etc.

Having said that, Bishop is a rare football player, a three-phase impact player with elite ball skills and the production on both sides of the ball to back up that label.

If you're looking for an impact level on a 1-10 scale, Bishop's commitment would be a 10, in our opinion. For programs competing on a national level, he represents a class-leading receiver or class-leading defensive back in our eyes.

Another thing of note about Bishop's high school career to date: he was DJ Lagway's top target in Fall 2023, and his receiving statistics (receptions, yards, TDs) slightly increased in Fall 2024. Pretty impressive considering the change of QB.

Top247 EDGE Luke Wafle includes Texas in cut to four schools

Will Turboff (Horns 247)

Two weeks before he begins his summer official visit schedule, Princeton (N.J.) Hun School Top247 EDGE Luke Wafle has revealed that he's cut his list of 30 offers to a small, select group.

In a social media post shared on Tuesday, four finalists were announced, namely Texas, USC, Penn State, and Ohio State.

Wafle's announcement comes just one month after he traveled to Austin for the fourth time to meet with Steve Sarkisian, LaAllan Clark, and several others within the program.

Following that visit, Horns247's Hank South spoke with David Wafle, Luke's father, about what stands out with the Longhorns.

"Texas is huge. We love it there. Very excited to get down for the OV." the elder Wafle said in April.

While the 6-foot-5.5, 245-pound pass rusher's brother Owen recently made the move from Penn State to Michigan, that is not expected to be a major factor throughout the rest of Wafle's recruitment.

Additionally, Wafle had recently scheduled an official visit with Florida, but that is now considered to be off the table.

Before he returns to Texas on June 20, the nation's No. 55 prospect will see Ohio State (May 30) and Penn State (June 6). An official visit date at USC hasn't yet been revealed.

No. 1 ATH Jermaine Bishop goes in-depth on commitment to Texas

Jordan Scruggs (Horns 247)

WILLIS, Texas — Texas landed a massive commitment from five-star athlete Jermaine Bishop on Wednesday afternoon, the No. 1 athlete in America choosing the Longhorns over Houston, USC, and about two dozen others.

"They've been applying the most pressure and they've been showing love all around since day one," Bishop told Horns247. "Coach (Chris) Jackson hit me up day one as soon as the '26 class started getting recruited hard. At first it was Coach (Terry) Joseph, then Coach O(Mark Orphey) came in and wasted no time with the communication and the love that he was showing. And then on top of that I've been talking to Coach (Jeff) Banks, he's the one that actually offered me back in 2022 or 2023. Coach Jackson came in day one as well. Being able to get shown love from all three sides of the ball was just different. And then I went down there and saw DKR and it was that."

Bishop says he told the Longhorns staff  "about two weeks" ago.

"We were down there for their last practice and I just knew it was time and I felt it so I went in there and talked to Coach Sark for a little bit and just told him it was official," Bishop added.

As one would expect, Sarkisian was thrilled to have the elite athlete in the fold.

"Man he yelled and the whole upstairs heard him," Bishop said. "Other coaches heard him yelling and I think they knew what it was and then that's when everyone had went around and started dapping up everybody really."

Texas has been trending for Bishop for a while.

"Couple months," he estimated. "I got the feeling earlier this year but at first it was just a feeling. I was still trying to ride the process out and just take everything in and not just try to jump the gun too early. I was kinda just enjoying the process and being grateful for the opportunity."

Bishop expanded on the coaches at Texas that led him to his decision.

"Coach O really just came in and picked up where Coach Joseph left off," Bishop said. "So there wasn't nothing new or a surprise or a shock to me. Of course you hear coaches leaving and that might scare some people but when Coach O hit me up and told me he was the new corners coach. I was kinda skeptical about it at first. But then we got on the phone and I realized that he's also a guy from home. His hometown is probably like ten, fifteen minutes from here (New Waverly, Texas). So my hometown guy, close to hometown guy that I can connect with and just have a simple conversation with was pretty nice and that just picked up really."

The fact that Texas has had 23 players selected in the NFL Draft the last two cycles didn't hurt either.

"It was brought up, it was brought up cause that's one of Coach Sark's favorite stories," Bishop said of UT's draft success. "When he first got to the program and then now guys are getting drafted and the team GPA has gone up. So hearing that and being able to not only hear it, but also see it, it was a factor as well, it was a factor. Of course my dream is to go to the NFL but you gotta go to college first so looking it at the real way, so it was definitely a huge factor."

It's well known that Bishop is elite on  both sides of the ball. What is the pitch from Texas?

"We haven't gotten down an exact plan, but it's definitely get up there, they'll talk to me, see what I want to do, and then go from there really," Bishop said. "Coach Jackson, we talk about plays, talk about this, talk about that. Coach O, get in the room, watch a little film then talk about this. And then Coach Banks, you know he's one of the most excited guys on the coaching staff so he talked to me about how I could return kicks and punts, so it's really good."

Are there any guys Bishop is going to be recruiting to join you him in Austin?

"We'll see, I gotta see the board then I'm gonna get to work," he said.

Bishop still plans to take official visits this summer. He has trips scheduled to USC (June 6-8) and Houston (June 13-15)  as well as Texas (June 20-22).

That would make a lot more sense based on the age differential. I'm just going off of what 247 has on his profile page.
