2020 Democratic Nominee

I like Beto, but woof, running for POTUS requires a bit more than stock "working bipartisanly" and "we'll debate the solutions or have a national discussion."  No one wants to debate or have a discussion.

That's not the reality of politics anymore.  Mitch McConnell set forth the parameters of "I'm not working with a president of the opposition party, so go fuck yourself."  It is a decent probability we have a Dem President-Dem House-GOP Senate in 2021.  And that Senate is not working bipartisanly with President Beto.

I’m not a fan of the way a politicians stance on Israel is used in our domestic politics.  It’s such divisive low hanging fruit as far as talking points go.   No one is anti-Israel.

Somehow, Israel has become a more important topic to Evangelical Christians than to most American Jews.

In today’s world, I think politicians on the democratic side need to do more to drive national conversations through the media and work harder to platform real experts and scientists on issues instead of responding to the narratives being driven on the right by their army of grifters.

What a bunch of fucking morons.  This is why twitter sucks.  Half the people won't read the highlighted text and will just go off the text of the actual tweet.

ETA:  the responses to Kevin Robillard are from people who apparently are capable of rational thought.  The responses to the other guy, not so much.

We are the USSA.  The United Stupid States of America.  We deserve everything we're getting, and everything we're gonna get.  Spread 'em boys, it's only gonna get worse.

You spew nothing but vitriol and contempt against the majority of people of this country. How do you square that with the system of government that we have? You should be happy as the Democrats did very well in 2018 midterms and the system we have worked in your favor. Hate will burn you up son.

Naah.  Keeps me warm.

And my contempt squares perfectly with our system of government.  We don't have direct democracy by idiots.  We have a representative government.  Our reps are supposed to be the wise men and women we elect to represent our interests.  They aren't supposed to be a raw manifestation of our ignorant id.  We expressly opted OUT of government by the mob.  Yet that's exactly what our current government and culture are foisting on us anyway.  The consequences are easy to predict.  And they ain't good.

Oh, and as for your "majority" of people in this country.  Among your many faults, you're shitty at counting, too.  His net approval is around -14%.  Still, his approval shows us that there are a LOT of fucking morons.

Unequivocal support for Israel is probably higher amongst the fundie Evangelicals with their bullshit theology than the typical millennial progressive Jew. You have American millennial Jews disrupting the free Birthright trips because they fail to discuss the Palestinian perspective and occupation. Bitching about a free fucking 10 day trip to their ancestral homeland! I am going in the spring to both Israel and the West Bank and will be traveling and meeting with both Jews and Arabs. I think the young American Jews don’t realize how different the Arab Muslim mindset when it comes to how they view the conflict.

lol at thinking this country is made up of a Trump supporting “majority”.

Y’all may be loud, fat, and tacky and have a minority rule over your shitty party of treason but you’re still only 35% of the country.

And people who disagree with you have tried reason and facts and logic but y’all are beyond all help. Everything is fake news and alternative facts.

Quite frankly, I’m tired of being polite and pretending like you Trumpkins aren’t shiteating, pissdrinking mental invalids.

You’re gross. You’re loud. You’re fat. You’re dumb. You’re tacky. You’re ignorant. You’re racist. You’re embarrassing.

Go smoke meth in your trailer, collect your SSI, and yell at the blonde lady on the picture box about the scary brown people and let the rest of us try to pull the country out of it’s death spiral.

You have a very broad brush that doesn’t include just the Trump supporters. You haven’t given your solution on how you’d change things for the better. You are willing to throw the baby out with the bath water. You don’t even try to relate to or make an effort to try to understand or win over those you think are morons. To me that shows contempt for our system of government.

To you, tailored jerseys are a good idea.

I've offered a jillion solutions -- I've posted about my thoughts on comprehensive immigration reform, on ending the war on drugs, on improving education, and any number of other significant policy matters.  But I've also realized this, and I'm not fucking stupid, so I'm not going to ignore what's been slapping us all in the face: the morons CANNOT BE WON OVER.  Facts, logic, data, reasoned thinking?  They don't have zero value to the moron class -- they have NEGATIVE value.  The more evidence that you present, the more you are "fake news," a tool of the "deep state," etc. etc.

Good ideas will never win the moron vote.  The only path for dealing with the morons is defeating them.

What would be really helpful for Beto is to have a signature proposal regarding immigration that mirrors the larger vision and shows the direction of the larger values that will guide the individual decisions. A simple policy proposal that COULD be reduced to a sound bite in lieu of being able to condense an entire immigration vision into a sound bite.

Here's something: "Amnesty for those currently here and a relaxed standard for asylum."

Bam, there you go. You're welcome, Beto.

This would be a great approach for Beto, to be the immigration reform candidate actually from the fucking Mexican border.

Taking the GOP signature issue and turning it on its head.

Good idea.

But instead his response to how to fix visa overstays - "I don't know."

And everything else about immigration/the wall has been "let's have a discussion with bipartisan solutions."

Some candidates are legitimately substantive thinkers but aren't good at sound bites.

Some candidates are good at sound bites but are not legitimately substantive thinkers.

Some can do both.

Some can't do either.

If Beto is challenging the fundamental precepts of the Constitution, I'm intrigued.

I’m proud to be from Alabama and I’m proud of how I look.

Why don’t you show us a picture of your dicksucking methmouth and your lovingly tailored jerseys so we can compare who’s really the “lout” here.

Which, BTW dumbass a “lout” is an aggressive man.

I know all your years of “experimentation” might have eaten holes in your already inferior brain but if you’re going to try to insult me please use correct terminology.

I'm shocked a presidential hopeful actually used the word "empire" to describe the United States.

I mean there's another guy on the Dem side who describes it that way, but I'll leave that alone for now.

But yeah, it's awesome to hear that from someone who isn't a rumpled old man yelling at clouds.

Letting Russia walk all over us without a response isn’t exactly a good principle, even if consistent.

Honest question, Mr. McCarthy, were you paying attention to either Russia-related to Democratic politics in 2012? How new are you to being a woke lib? It's kind of important, because you're easily baited by the right-wing. Say "Russia" out loud to you and you're as helpless as Marty McFly hearing "chicken" and watching you go back in time is awkward.

The 2012 Magnitsky was altered by the right to apply only to an extremely narrow band of specific Russian oligarchs, creating an inconsistent stance against human rights abusers worldwide. Sanders wanted a consistent stance against human rights abusers. When the Magnitsky Act was expanded in 2015/16 to apply to more than just a very narrow band of Russian oligarchs, Sanders supported it.

(Similarly, he voted against the sham new sanctions in 2017 which were designed by the right to try and cripple the Iran deal. The majority of Dems jumped in line because they, like you, are easily goaded.)

You're not trying to learn, you're trying to make a home within the Democratic party for your center-right/right-wing politics. You've been temporarily deranged by Donald and will very soon go back to your conservative home.

No thanks, bud.

Uh, actually, maybe the 80 year old socialist has been a secret Russian asset for years and they finally activated him. That makes way more sense than this bullshit.

Love bad teammates nuanced explanations.  Can’t wait to hear Bernie explain all that shit when the Russia question inevitably comes up in the debates.

For the record, I think Bernie is one of the few people on earth that would compromise himself for an ideology he really believes would make America a better place.

I don’t think it’s about the money or blackmail.

What ideology are you talking about?

And what has Bernie done to show that he's compromised? He has, after all, spoken out forcefully against Russian and voted for sanctions that were not (1) purposefully crippled in their scope or (2) designed to destroy the Iran deal.

It’s the things Bernie doesn’t do that speaks volumes.

Bernie can at least tell Russia he doesn’t want or need their help in elections.  That he rejects any assistance they might give him.  He doesn’t want it.

Has he ever done that publicly?

Because I haven’t seen it.

This is self-parody, Hugo. You can do better.

Sanders on Iran and Russia Sanctions

---------------

"I am strongly supportive of the sanctions on Russia included in this bill. It is unacceptable for Russia to interfere in our elections here in the United States, or anywhere around the world. There must be consequences for such actions. I also have deep concerns about the policies and activities of the Iranian government, especially their support for the brutal Assad regime in Syria. I have voted for sanctions on Iran in the past, and I believe sanctions were an important tool for bringing Iran to the negotiating table. But I believe that these new sanctions could endanger the very important nuclear agreement that was signed between the United States, its partners and Iran in 2015. That is not a risk worth taking, particularly at a time of heightened tension between Iran and Saudi Arabia and its allies. I think the United States must play a more even-handed role in the Middle East, and find ways to address not only Iran's activities, but also Saudi Arabia's decades-long support for radical extremism."

---------------

Also, what ideology are you talking about?
