Sure chief. Been claiming for weeks arch needs to hit check downs and wide open receivers underneath instead of just chunking deep. He finally does that and the offense looks good. Again I am sorry for being right :(

So you thought he was bad, suggested what he should do to be better, he does that, and you still can't give him credit?  Pussy.

I was super excited to see Arch check the ball down multiple times. Those check downs where he is trusting his guys to make a play even though the ball was short of the sticks is exactly what I was talking about on that Florida play.

So we started with off-script, big game hunter Arch. This game he added the Check down Charlie aspect. Now we just need to see the on time, system throws and we will be cooking. He was still missing tons of reads but it was obvious he made a HUGE effort to get the ball out and I loved it. Great show of growth.

Remember when @Codaxx said that catching a ball short of the sticks would not result in a first down?

I do. Funny that it was the same player that we were talking about too. Tre Wisner.

Bro. We talk a lot of shit on the board. But there is literally no one I wouldn't sit down and have a beer with or stop on the side of the road for. Thats what makes us better than aggy. Let's not take the disrespect over the line.

Some people were hearing what they wanted to hear rather than what was actually said or written. Persons shouldn't believe their own inaccurate paraphrasing.

What do Arch’s teammates think about Arch? At the end of the day that’s what matters. They are the ones in the trenches with him.

"He proved today, he's a great quarterback and we're all behind him," wide receiver Parker Livingstone said. "He's the leader of this team and the leader of this offense."

"Arch can make every throw in the book," wide receiver DeAndre Moore said. "It's really about what the defense is giving us. They played a lot of deep coverage and Arch took advantage of that. It was a really great game plan."

and our secret 🤫 vey helpful Sooner teammate:

"He did a nice job," Oklahoma coach Brent Venables said. "We lost contain a few times to allow him to buy some time. And he's a good player with good skill guys around him. He played with really good poise and made some good plays in tight coverage."

I mean I get it…I only have three quotes (Venables is like a Manchurian Horn man) and Wisner also bragged on Arch post game. I am sure I could find more accolades from other teammates.

But if we hope to sniff the playoffs it’s what his teammates think he can do to get them the W that matters. And they seem to believe he can. Hopefully, we can win out.

Marginally beats a hotel in Indiana or Kentucky.

Good luck with the surgery.

If we’re being honest with ourselves, and I only had my vantage point of the upper deck corner in the shade, Arch made a handful of plays today that were difference makers, and he didn’t turn the ball over. We didn’t necessarily win today because of Arch, but OU lost today because of Mateer, his turnovers and inaccuracy, and OU’s inability to stop the run.

I’m not saying Arch played perfect, but if we have this version of Arch the rest of the season, I like our chances in every game.

What I don’t understand is the need for folks to defend their takes of Arch being shit. Dude is 1-0 against OU. He played winning football today. Get off his jock, at least this fucking weekend.

Bro I assure you it does not. I am staying in an area with like 100 chain restaurants. I got in at 10pm on a Saturday and my eating options were Chili's, McDonalds, and Taco Bell. Everything else was closed.  My HEB at home closes at 11. Literally nothing going on.

All of yall saying this are manufacturing bullshit. Maybe 2-3 posters went full regard on arch. A decent number did want to be wrong about last year and plenty of discussion has transpired to prove QE was the best option last year. That shit is gone. Now we just want to see arch improve week after week. He is.

yesterday he balled. He started to figure it out last week but the game was out of hand so it mixed with hero ball, understandably. Yesterday he took a HUGE step forward in game. MASSIVE.

anyone saying he was just a game manager is wrong, some of those runs and clutch throws like the one I quoted just above are not game manager throws.

he was still fucked with OL penalties and asinine play calls at times, but he did ALSO manage the game well evidenced by a win, his completion percentage, only one TD and ZERO INTs!!

In the end for yesterday he did everything we needed. EVERYTHING.

is it good enough for next week or the week after or Georgia? Maybe maybe not but there is clearly room for improvement, pointing that out with specificity isn’t being a hater. But more importantly, I don’t give a fuck right now. We beat OU.

some of y’all just want to rage post against this army of haters that just doesn’t exist.

I loved Quinn’s game when it was on, I love Sark’s system and his calls when they are on, and the same with Arch. And guess what, I fucking hated it when Quinn self sacked and Sark holds his shriveled nutsack in the 3rd quarters or when Arch throws like Uncle Rico.  None of that is being a hater, it’s called being a fan.

now for the most important part!

fuck OU! God damn!

Look BurntOrange can be an asshole but he isnt wrong in the post you are quoting. That is LITERALLY what we said he needed to do. Not exactly sure what you are trying to say here by pointing at who liked his post. So you dont like any post by a poster simply based on who the poster is? Regardless of if the post is correct? Go back to last season. Do you not remember that @BurntOrange&White and I were going toe to toe on the Quinn thread? I mean we were really battling about it.

Fucking this guy loves him some check downs….   When you celebrate check downs it probably means things aren’t going good at qb. We beat a OU team that might lose four more games or more, let’s not get too excited about check down skills.  We’ve been there the last few years.  You know what would be nice?  Having a qb you can trust to throw a 3-6 for a forward pass….   That we haven’t had for a while.

They had the #1 defense in FBS.  Again give Arch some credit.  OL was ass early on.  There doesn’t seem to be anything about him that makes him unlikable but some of you are just miserable fucks.

When you’re 132 out of 145 on holding the ball too long maybe you own some of the oline issues…..   yall just magically think things are going to get better somehow.   I’m just being real for how it looks the rest of the season if something doesn’t change.

Did you watch the first quarter?  OL was ass.   Again we won.  He didn’t turn the ball over.  Had a few drops from receivers.  What more do you want from him?   He was ass vs utep and tosu and most of us have acknowledged that.

How sad is your life if you’re still miserable after a 23-) win against our buggy rival who happens to have the #1 ranked defense in football?

Things did get better yesterday

Check downs require context… like this context provided by @52-80 on another thread:

Quote

crazy arch numbers:

on 3rd downs, he was 11/12 for 100+yards.

Whether the check down was on another play or on third down the success he had in both completion percentage over all, third down completions and no TOs tells you everything you need to know about how ecstatic you should be about arch checking down successfully.

It’s pretty simple.  If your qb at Texas is ranked in the bottom of all of football at holding the ball too long and you have a terrible oline, it’s hard to win games….  Either that changes or we have a rough rest of the season.  Not sure what you don’t understand there?

Against a team that has four to five more losses in them….    Do I love beating OU?  Yea.  But this offense still ain’t winning many games when you can’t count on your qb to get a 3rd and 4/6 yards with a simple forward pass. We’ve had the same problem for like ten years now.  When I watch it other teams with the ball inside of the 20 that have a decent offense I expect a TD, we do that at like 5% of the time the last 10 years.  So sorry for not getting too excited about your check downs.

When the QB is rapidly improving, the average doesn’t tell you jack squat. Compare tOSU game numbers vs OU game numbers and get back to me. The season average is ass but the start point and current end point is drastically different. The kid is on the move. Not sure if it’s the eyewear from warby Parker, the wings he gets from red bull or if it’s the breathable comfort wear from Viouri that did the trick but stop focusing on averages in a rapidly improving situation, averages in this case are only backward looking.

So the qb literally having one of the slowest release times in all of college football has nothing to do with it?  Some of y’all need to wake up to reality.  He’s been complete ass from the pocket, the only time he completes passes is when he’s on the run and not over thinking.

Good lord If you can’t count on your quarterback to throw from the pocket a good pass unliess he’s on the run.  Your point isn’t good.  That’s not hard to see at this point but keep acting like he’s a heisman contender.  I’m just saying this team isn’t a contender until we can count on easy passes getting completed from the pocket.   The rest of the country knows that.
