I think our approach at the plate kind of sucks. Lorenzen only at 77 pitches through 7, this seems to be a common thing with us.

As good a series win as we’ve had this year I think.
That’s a good baseball team over there. Good pitching. Good defense. Athletic. Has an mvp level hitter in Witt. Run the bases well. They will be a bitch of an out this year imo. Best team in the division I think, regardless of current records.

Are they slowly starting to figure this out as a team?

I mean losing Bregman and Tucker in the same year is a bit much.

Good news is when everyone in the bullpen is good and nasty leverage isn’t all that important.
Tonight 4.2, 1 hit (ball that hit 2B and would have been an out) 0 runs, 2 BB’s 7 k’s. Easy peasy

At the same point in the season the 2024 Astros with Bregman and Tucker were 17-25 and 7.5 games out.

Paredes currently has more war than Tucker. We got 6 years of cam smith and 2 extra years of Paredes, plus the final 1 year of Wesneski after he takes 3 years to recover from TJ surgery.

CSB...
While visiting Louisville Slugger Factory a few weeks ago.  Was surprised to see Cam Smith already having his own allotment to the side.  The other dudes...you might've heard of em.

These are "billets" or the original wood before they are cut to the players' desired specs.

This is in the "bat room," which is basically their museum of custom bats for players through the years. "No ring" is not WS related, but rather unfortunate, just the same.

Biggio's game used bat.

Bummer that he didn't get to service requirements for a pension, but he still gets the MLB lifetime pass (given at 8 years).

I've really enjoyed rooting for him, and didn't stop after he left the Astros.

He’ll still gets a nice pension. Just not the max which kicks in at 10 years.

I learned today.  So for every quarter year of service, a player earns $6875/yr in pension to start at age 62.  43 days is a quarter year of MLB service.  So with 9 years of service (36 quarters give or take), TK will get ~$247,500/yr starting at age 62.

he played in 9 years…. he didn’t have 9 years of service time unfortunately.

His service time was a little over 6 years.

still a very respectable career and the consummate pro.

Still have a couple of Hugs for Homers bobbleheads.

he was one of my girlfriend’s favorite players on those 2016-2019 Astros teams and like a lot of us, hated it when he was traded (fucking Dusty/Maldonado).

My son (5-7 yo at the time) would give her all of his Kemp baseball cards whenever he got one and I randomly noticed a couple last night going through stuff I haven’t seen in a while. I was thinking “I guess he hung them up or maybe he’s still trying to make one last go of it.”… and then this news comes today.

go enjoy retirement and raising your family, Tony!

I really dislike this fake rivalry. They might as well be the A’s or the Angels.

I must have missed when we blew a WS by losing 4 games at home to the A’s or Angels

Same as the Nationals. I don’t really give a shit about them either.

I must have missed where the nationals play in our division and occupy the same state as us.

Does Smith go down when Alvarez comes back up? Don't understand the desire to sit his ass on the bench 2-4 times a week. Just fucking stupid.

he's less than a year out of college, he does not need to play 162 games. 100 or so is about right imo

A game out of first on May 15th.   As much as we love to bitch, can’t really hate on that too much. Especially compared to last year.

It's almost like... Every year.
