Astros will be a regular rolling ball of butcher knives when they get everyone back healthy and in the lineup, hopefully this year, but until then keep finding ways to win.

One small change and that is 2 of their best bats from last season.

Not ready to say the production has been completely replaced, but Paredes with no real protection behind him in the line up has been very solid, defense has been goods, and his numbers for a full season project to match what Bregman has given them offensively the last three seasons.

Now that I have committed the sin of actually looking ahead the baseball gods will punish Isaac for my transgression by having him sleep on the wrong type of pillow and being out a month.

Starting to think about an outfield bat at the deadline. I don’t know how his defense is but Ryan O’Hearn seems would make a lot of sense in LF and move Tuve back to 2b.

Free agent in the offseason. Played at Sam Houston maybe he would stick around on a mid sized deal.

Chandler Rome has been adamant that Espada/Brown aren’t moving Altuve back to 2nd.  You might read into that they would prefer to lose offense in exchange for better defense there, at least for this season.

At the rate Yordan's bones are mending the best move might be to let Altuve DH the rest of the year, Whitcomb take over 2nd, and find an outfielder who can provide more punch than Melton now that Dezenzo and Chaz are gone for the year as they have fallen into the MLB's version of the Bermuda Triangle, the Astros' DL.

the rotation is working

instead of trading for a bat, i'd tell the young guys they need to step the fuck up and see who responds

Brandon Lowe is the perfect guy for this team, Tampa Bay doesn't care about trading their starters even when they are in contention. 2B is the only spot we really need an upgrade, considering Altuve can play LF. There is absolutely no reason to move him back to 2B full time his defense is just awful there. If you go somehow get Lowe and Lowe from Tampa while sending back Meyers in the deal that would be the best outcome. You get two LF bats to have a more balanced lineup.

I would be shocked if a) the Astros were willing to take on his salary or b) Brown would be willing with the prospects needed to get Tampa to pay his salary.

Also, Lowe kinda sucks.  He's an upgrade only because Rogers is terrible (although, if you are taking a look at second basemen league wide, he's below average but far from the bottom in WAR).  I wish they'd give Whitcomb the at bats and we can at least see if he's viable before he's a minor league free agent.

Lowe was tossed around when we were looking to move Tucker.
Maybe both sides will re-engage now but the best time for that may have been before DFA-ing Whitley.

Isaac Paredes came in today “feeling pretty good,” manager Joe Espada said. He’s getting an MRI today.

Happy Antonio Banderas GIF

After the Yordan fiasco, Dana and the entire front office isn’t letting anyone near the field that complains of any sniffle, scratch or ache until a full body scan… by multiple hospital systems
