Transfer Cycle 2025-2026 - Shit In One Hand, Hope In the Other, Tell Us Which One Fills Up Faster

1mm per is basically a 5th round contract. I do not believe he projects to a 5th round or better. I think he over-played his hand. Making the mistake that every RB1 at Texas has a minimum value. I am on team Sark on this one. I saw Hardy, Lacy, and Washington all finish in the top 5 in rushing in the SEC as transfers and I would be willing to bet none of them got 1million. RB is a position that has been devalued, and it is also a plentiful one in the portal. That does not mean Texas cannot fuck this up, but decision not to pay 1 million for Wisner does seem to be a rational one.

To be clear, college football isn’t the NFL when it comes to relative RB value to either market or roster. It’s one of the most valuable positions on the CFB field and now it is being treated as such with NIL accordingly. That market inefficiency has been eliminated this cycle in both recruiting and the portal.

right, but a 3rd or 2nd round contract is much more especially over the 4 years. That's what I'm saying.

He was the starting running back at Texas. Is it his fault that he did everything he was supposed to for that to be the case?

You are coming at it from a really absurd angle. I get it you are already moved on and don't care that he's a real person anymore because not at Texas. I don't think he has the opinion that he's "not even an average back at the p4 level" and I don't think he's an idiot and can't see statistics. He's ranked 5th here and most lists he's top 5 in the portal. He was a 1k yard rusher in 2024 and had a coach that got fucking fired after 1 season for being shitty and running off literally the whole room. No one had the 2025 season they wanted on the offense.

2026 Transfer Portal rankings: Ranking the top RBs on the...

Every program looking to win a National Championship needs a solid rushing attack to help balance out the offense. Teams that don't already have a star running

Not a single fucking player. Name one and I'll give you the kudos, but there isn't a single player on the offense that played to their standard or to the fans expectations. That includes jack entries, arch manning, wisner, Baxter, Wingo, Moore, Mosely, anyone. Name one. The closest is Livingstone?

That's because the expectations were stupid. We had a LOT of bodies on the OL who had barely taken snaps, and whose evaluation in the off-season had basically been skipped. No OL shows up blocking great on day one; no offense does well without an OL.

4 pages talking about tre wisner. We are so fucked

if you have something more intelligent to contribute, do it

this ain't it

Whether or not Tre Wisner is worth $1m to Texas is really one of life's great mysteries, up there with the identity of DB Cooper and Jack the Ripper, and what happened to Jimmy Hoffa. It's a rocket surgery wrapped in an enigma. No one could ever know if he's worth that much. Only idiots on Surly would suggest that paying him $1m would be an over-pay.

Ehh, in Philly he’s worth $50.

Gentlemen, the only conclusion I can draw from the last several pages is that only Portal Kombat can resolve our differences. Good luck and may be the best Surlyite triumph in portal victory.

Our existing WR room is adequate and I don’t think we need to go after a Cam Coleman type given we have finite resources. The problem is our best guys have overlapping skill sets. What we need is a Sategna/Craver type that will be wide the fuck open down the field if their speed isn’t respected. I’m sure those guys weren’t cheap but they also weren’t marquee players in last year’s portal.

Kind of agree but also disagree. As for Coleman, yeah, we don't really need him. He's basically Wingo. He has drops and fumble issues just as much. A Craver-type would be nice. I don't know really anything about Isaiah Sategna other than he had some pretty good catches against us, but other than that, I never thought about him again. I went and looked uo some highlights and he can ball. If he had late season Arch, he would have been awesome, instead we had Moore who, for whatever dropped some easy passes. He dropped less passes than I remember, tho. He had 5 in 2024 and 3 this past season. Compared to Wingo having 7 this season, and 7 lst season. That's absurd. 14 dropped passes in two seasons is awful. For some reason I can't find Cam Coleman's, but he has drop issues (not sure to the extent of Wingo, but it's been noted by NFL scouts he has a high ceiling, but emphasizes he needs to correct "concentration drops".

If we’re already citing finite resources then we’re truly not all in.

Nick Marsh is better than every receiver on our current roster.

OTF pushing needing a speedy slot seems like a misuse of the portal for receiver. We have a 5 star coming in that is the most electric receiver we’ve recruited since Worthy. Use him and get him up to speed. If a receiver can’t get up to speed with your offense then change the complexity of your offense. No fucking way should receivers struggle to learn an offense in this day and age of football.

Lastly you don’t have to be a 10.3 track guy to be wide open deep or to create separation.

With Mosley, McCutcheon, and Bishop, there is no need for another slot WR. Sark needs to stop with this complex offensive bullshit and just dumb it down. This isn't the NFL. There's no need to learn complex shit, other than audibles like Caldwell called for the td to Mosley against Miss St.

IT is reporting that Simon has fallen behind Michael Terry on the depth chart.

I'm not too surprised by this, if true. Terry is a beast. Pack on some more muscle and he could be our own Derrick Henry (hyperbole, obviously. Just in height). He's a dude. I'm glad, for the moment at least, he's found a position. That was my biggest worry. I didn't want Sark to waste him or what he could bring to the table. Sucks about Simon, but anything can happen in this gladiatorial game, just ask Baxter and anyone else who has suffered a catastrophic injury at their position. So, is Terry currently RB1 or is it Clark, then Terry, Simon, and Cooper?

As much as I love Tre Wisner and what he did at Texas, he did not "hold all the cards." There are multiple advanced stats out there showing he was one of the worst starting RB's in the SEC. In no way do you let yourself be held hostage by a guy like that - his performances against ou and aggy notwithstanding.

I am 100% confident that Texas will bring someone in at RB who can, at worst, match what Wisner did this year.

He was one of the worst RBs in all of FBS. He was ranked 137th in rushing at his position. He didn't just suck, he was abysmal. A lot can be blamed on the OL, but even last year it took him 16 games just to reach 1,065 yards and 6 TD's, and that was with a Joe Moore finalist OL group. He's not even in the same stratosphere as a RB1. There are zero excuses for being ranked 137th at your position, even at Texas with a shit OL. Choice and his recruiting were beyond awful. Gibson is gone because of Chad Scott (that's on Sark), Rickey Stewart was MIA for almost all of spring, and from Aug to PRESENT, so great eval there, Baxter is a shell of himself, and that's just football after tearing his ACL/MCL, and Wisner is a football player, but is RB3/4 at RB. He had three one-hundred yard games last year (ou, aggy, UK), and one one-hundred yard game this year (aggy). The woulda, coulda, shoulda can be played all day against fOSU, ou, Arky) but the fact is he didn't. I wish him nothing but the best, but it will not be hard to upgrade from 137th.

I knew Ricky Williams a little bit in college and he's obviously thoughtful, reasonably intelligent, and more importantly, curious (you get this in interviews and when he does tv).

That said, we're talking about someone who hired Master P to his agent and signed an atrocious first contract when most of his peers were signing "set for life" money in their rookie deals.

21 year old football players making dumb decisions (particularly with money) is pretty par for the course.

CSB: When I was in college in the mid to early aughts we went to Padre Island for spring break and Ricky was there with some current players. They were the nicest motherfuckers I have ever met. They literally bought all the drinks and we hung out in a hot tub for (no hyperbole) 12 hours just getting hammered. To say I couldn't walk after getting out, and not because of the alcohol but because my feet were so wrinkly and sore would be an understatement. Ricky helped me to my room with a few linemen (or DL or players. They're all huge, IDK). Then a night or two later my buddy and I saw them again in Mexico at this shitty hole in the wall bar. Someone dropped and broke a shot glass and some Mexican dude told me I had to pay $50 for it. I said fuck that. I didn't drop it, and even if I did I wasn't paying $50 for a fucking shot glass. The guy got some hard ass Mexicans to come over and they called the cops. They were about to arrest me (man Mexico is crazy corrupt, dude) until Ricky and those guys stepped in. We ended up going to some strip club after that and seeing some fine ass American college chicks naked and dancing in a cage to some of the shittiest American pop music. Seriously, the nicest fucking guys ever. I wish I would have asked for an autograph before leaving Padre, but I didn't see them again after that night. But I did get to spend the rest of my vacation shacking up with this hot ass OU chick and her friends (only got laid by the one chick. Boooo).

Being RB2 at Texas is better than being RB1 at pretty much anywhere else. He's not gonna be RB1 in the NFL ever and if someone tells him he's an every down guy in the NFL they are smoking crack.

That first sentence I definitely don't agree with.

And the NFL has undrafted or late round RBs on teams every season. He definitely doesn't think the way you do here.

1 hour ago, immamac said:

Dude should have stayed and competed. Now he's just chasing his last paycheck from football.

What? He turned in a solid 7.5 sack and 12 TFL season. He left and developed elsewhere, and now can take one more shot at a big pay day from a p4 team. This is a guy where the process actually worked out.

Wisner is already not big enough or fast enough for college. That problem is only going to get worse in the NFL. He'll be lucky to be on a team for a season or 2.

I'm gonna disagree. Wiesner has shown he can't hold up as the back over a college football season. Going somewhere else to be the feature back will only exacerbate that opinion. Staying and being in a rotation as 1B running back at Texas for 750k would have been a better bet for him.

Singleton or Johnson, to me, would make a ton more sense than Cam Coleman (or Dallas Wilson) from both a $$ standpoint and to keep the rest of the WR room from freaking out. Bringing in a guy that has a dollar amount that signals he is here to compete and let the best man win is better for retention, much like last year with Mosely, than a huge dollar amount guy that is going to be the de facto WR1a to Wingo's 1b.

Spend the difference between these guys on an additional SEC median equivalent IOL and/or a 2nd string RB. I wouldn't even be opposed to giving the difference to Endries to keep him around to have two receiving TE threats next year.

If Arch progresses as we hope, we should need fewer truly amazing dominant WRs than an OL to give him time.

Would I like all the best players from the portal and a $50M, fuck it why not. Its not my money. Does that make any sense, not really...

I’m not sure Sark knows what to do with depth. I think he would be just fine with a roster of 22 guys for the offense. And leaving the remains 63 or so slots for the defense and special teams.

Auburn linebacker Robert Woodyard is expected to enter the transfer portal when it opens on Jan. 2 as reported on Christmas Eve. The Mobile, Ala. native started 11 games for the Tigers in 2025, amassing 67 tackles, including 7 tackles for a loss and 2 sacks. In all, Woodyard has played in 29 games across his career on the Plains. The veteran linebacker was the top-rated player on the Tigers' defense all season, according to Pro Football Focus, registering an 80.1 score. Woodyard particularly excelled in run defense, scoring an 88.4.

Texas is losing three starting linebackers this offseason -- Anthony Hill Jr., Liona Lefau, and Trey Moore. While Texas has players waiting in the wings, like Ty'Anthony Smith, Brad Spence, Bo Barnes, and incoming five-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson, the position is a need in the portal as UT hasn't signed big classes at the position in recent cycles.

A source close to Woodyard's camp told Horns247 on Tuesday that Texas is going to be a program Woodyard considers "due to the relationships." One of those relationships is Woodyard's former high school coach at Williamson, Antonio Coleman, having played for new Texas defensive coordinator Will Muschamp at Auburn. (Not to be confused with the 2025 recruit Antonio Coleman that signed with Auburn)

The 6-foot, 245-pound Woodyard ranks as the No. 5 linebacker and the No. 71 overall player in the transfer portal.

So far, the Longhorns have seen 13 players from this year's team announce intentions to hit the transfer portal. Of course, just because a player goes in the portal, doesn't always mean they can't return to the team. That's not to say any of the 13 are considering a return or are all wanted back, but we have seen it happen before (Juan Davis).

TBF, they pretty much know who both DB Cooper and Jack the Ripper are.

DB Cooper's identity is most prominentlyassumed to be Richard Floyd McCoy, Jr. His own family brought forth extremely strong evidence confirming it to be him.

Jack the Ripper, as of recent DNA that was just found this year from one of the victims (Catherine Eddowes' shawl) prominently points to Aaron Kosminski, a Polish-Jewish immigrant and barber, who was also a prime suspect at the time, as well. DNA just linked him to it.
